I've stopped at Aldi in Texas and enjoyed the variety this grocer has to offer. When I came across this store while visiting in Simi Valley Calif there was one located by my hotel. I had a kitchenette so I grabbed a few things for my stay.

ALDI is dedicated to low priced groceries. It presents a warehouse feel with their own name brands, but lacks the quirky fun of Trader Joe's. What it lacks in pizzazz or atmosphere, Dear Hubby (the grocery shopper in the family) shares that he likes to buy the staples there as they have the best prices. We went in to get cookie-making supplies, but haven't tried their store brands yet. There's a warehouse feel to the place. It's the kind of no frills environment I don't really enjoy. They do get the job done for basic items, but you may not walk away with a warm fuzzy feeling. Bring your own bags, and expect to be your own bagger. Dear Hubby says that he's impressed with the quality of their items, and knows how to negotiate his way around. Go, DH!

If you haven't tried delivery by Aldi (Instacart), you are missing out!! The fruits and veggies I got were was less expensive and much better quality than a traditional grocery store. I ended up with 5 bags of groceries (including 4 packs of Foster Farms chicken) for $80. BEST PART - delivered to my house in less than 2 hours! Love this! Totally going to become my #1 store!

I bought this crofton wood server. The original color is shiny mocha brown. I went home and hand washed it and this is what I look like after.

ALDI is a bit different type of shopping experience, but we like it nonetheless. First, you need a quarter to get a shopping cart. (I'm guessing this ensures you'll return it and not leave it stranded in the parking lot... or cart it off down the road if you're homeless.) Second, you pack your own bags after you've paid. Bit different from other markets, but a smart way to save money on baggers. There is tons of parking at this location. It's new, clean, and well kept. The selection is great and the PRICES are amazing. We save lots of money by stopping here each week. The employees are nice and the food is fresh for the most part (be sure to check expirations, however, like at every market). We enjoy ALDI! 4 stars!

I'm so happy to see an Aldi in Simi! I've only just learned of them but omg the prices! You won't find cheaper prices anywhere. To that guy a few reviews back, you are an idiot. The reason Aldi requires a quarter deposit and doesn't bag for you is to save you money. If you want to pay way more elsewhere then go ahead. I'll return my cart and bag my groceries to save that kind of money. I loved the store it was so clean and neat looking. The employees are all so friendly and I love the organic and gluten free options. Store brands are just as good if not better! I'm totally making the switch! Thank you Aldi see you soon!

    Ask the Community - ALDI

Is Aldi affiliated with Trader Joe's, like it in Chicago?

Yes, more or less. Aldi was founded by Karl Albrecht who gave the company to his two sons Theo and Karl jr. The two brothers split the company in Germany in Aldi North and Aldi South. In the US, Aldi belongs to Aldi South whereas Trader Joe's… Read more

Yelp didn't lead me astray when The Baker's Daughter returned as top pick. You can find The Bakers Daughter tucked inside a shopping center just off of Cochran and Madeira Road. The place is cute with a few tables inside as well as some patio seating. There is an open kitchen so you can see them mixing batches of fresh bread daily and racks of fresh bread out for fresh sale. A small bakery selection of fresh pastries and sweet bread selections. I ordered the chocolate chip espresso scone to try and was blown away of its flavor! So good and moist! Also we ordered an Avocado Tartine and the Sausage and Egg Sando. The avocado Tartine was delicious, I opted to add an egg. All so fresh and a generous portion of smashed creamy avocado. But for me the star of the show was the sausage and egg Sando! Oh sweet lawd this now tops my list of favorite breakfast sandwhich! And I don't know how I'm going to survive living 50 miles away from it! Made on baked fresh brioche roll, in house homemade incredible sausage patty with an egg and the most delicious chipotle aioli and tomato jam that I think I'm going to dream about it tonight! I professed my love of the Sausage Egg Sando to the kindest team member who was working the register. He was so friendly and he shared that some people say it's too spicy but my taste buds which don't really do super spicy thought it was barely spicy at all! It is seriously full of flavor and simply perfection in every bite! The team member also shared it was originally a "special" but so many people asked for it often it's now been added to the menu. He shared that the tomato jam, sausage patty, chipotle aioli and bread were all freshly made incredible sausage house too! I can't wait to find myself back in the area just for that Sando!

For the baked goods, I got the pan de queijo and the cinnamon bun. To be honest, I wasn't super impressed with either of these items but I'm willing to try the others. The cinnamon bun was just too sweet for me and the pan de queijo was just very dry. I loved the outdoor seating, it was really relaxing. I went on a weekday morning and it wasn't crowded at all. The staff was super friendly and willing to give me recommendations when I asked. I will definitely be coming back!
