Lots of great choices, but I just stuck to a traditional shaved ice with grape, watermelon and cherry syrup. Being used to traditional Hawaiian shaved ice (where the ice consistency is more like packed snow), I was a little disappointed. It was like eating mini ice cubes with flavored syrup. I could barely eat it and I ended up tossing it. I could have waited till more of the ice melted and then it would have been more like a slushee. Unfortunately, this did not hit the mark for me. The raspado was amazing the ice cream on top was a new experience. The churro loccos needed the cucumber chopped down more. The huge chunks of pipino kept me from enjoying them. There's an element of freestyling since different employees make the drinks slightly different but it's pretty good and the flavors are a departure from the norm of Starbucks, Jamba juice, etc. I've never seen anything like this place around but I've been told that these guys are the best. The Hawaiano was too sweet for my taste and the Gloria was mediocre at best. However, the Champino, Chamango, Chamarindo and Diablito drinks are all right up my alley and very refreshing. Came here to get a quick snack got here at 6:45pm and they close at 10pm. Walked up to the door and they had a sign that they would "reopen" at 6:30pm and had the door blocked off with a large sign. We didn't want to enter because the open sign was off and the big sign was blocking the walkway. We look in and at the end of the store at the back door two employees stood there looking at us and we didn't know if we can enter or not. A great place to go to treat yourself to a specialty shaved ice or a regular one too. Personnel are friendly and efficient. Gloria in particular has gotten to know us. She double checks but she always knows what we'll be ordering as soon as we get there. We used to go to the Raspado House every Sunday. It was kinda empty and got served by a tattooed Hispanic gentlemen wearing shorts and a tank top which made me a lil uncomfortable.. This new raspado "shaved ice" spot opened up in June, and has been pretty busy since. We have gone three times and each time we have not been disappointed. Among the array of flavors my party has gotten are: Chamarindo, Chamango, Tamarindo, Coconut, and Chocolate. The Chamarindo and Chamango are two of their specialities. In reality, they are flavored with chamoy and if you ask for more spiciness they will add chile. It also comes with a straw filled with even more chile goodness, and a saladito. Their flavors are pretty vast, filled with real chunks of fruit, and have sizes ranging from Small to Large. All in all it's a really great place for a hot summer day. I do have two complaints (if that's what you would call it). One is the price - A large cost 4-4.50 and for me, that sounds a bit expensive for raspados. The other complaint is for their speciality drinks they only come in one size which costs 4.50. read more
