However, the quality of service has declined significantly lately. I have experienced several issues where deliveries were marked as delivered but never arrived. Furthermore, orders are frequently delivered hours late or hours earlier than the scheduled window. The most frustrating aspect is the lack of communication. It has become nearly impossible to get a hold of customer service or the drivers directly when issues arise. While it is easy to obtain a refund, the frequency of these errors and the lack of a reliable contact method make the service difficult to use.

That said, we managed to grab a few items we wanted, and the checkout line moved surprisingly fast. We picked up the Pad See Ew, Paneer Masala with Rice, and a couple of ice creams. Everything we tried was tasty, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good the frozen Pad See Ew was. The portion size is on the smaller side, but at $4-5, it's a solid value. Note to self: avoid Trader Joe's on weekends; weekday trips are much better.

The back of the store has a nice beer and wine section--think Whole Foods-style offerings but at lower prices. For example, a six-pack of beer for just $4.99 isn't the best tasting, but at that price, it's hard to complain. Here's my biggest tip: avoid this store on weekends. I made the mistake of visiting on a Sunday around noon, and it was chaos. The underground parking garage holds maybe 20 cars, and the line to get in stretched onto the street. I ended up parking on the street in the neighborhood two blocks away, which wasn't terrible, but once inside, it was a different story. Every register line had 20-30 people, stretching all the way to the back of the store. Overall, Trader Joe's offers great prices and unique finds, but unless you enjoy battling crowds, I'd recommend going on a weekday.

I thought I'd just grabbed a bum cart, but the tiled flooring really creates that noise. The lay-out is bizarre. Like, you wade through the produce section to get to the rest of the store, and then it's impossible to get out through that same entrance to exit after you check out. Or maybe there's a path, but I had to push my creaky cart downhill in the snow all the way back to my car and almost got hit by several cars zipping along that same route. I'll give this store another try, because I was told by coworkers this is the cheapest option in town for groceries, but it was too massive, crowded and noisy for me. And I don't think the prices were great, even with the app I downloaded.

The store is clean and I have found the staff quite friendly and eager to help. There are always people there but I have never experienced it to be overcrowded. Maybe that's the size talking? I think the prices are competitive, even with products you can also get online. The fruit and vegetable selection is excellent. They have a decent selection of meats. They have a nice deli with a sushi offering that is quite nice. It seems that the products that can be locally sourced, are. The self-checkout works well but they also have at least one humanoid-run checkout. There are a lot of products I will never buy, but I am satisfied with those that I have.

We do a lot of home cooking, competition cooking and do cater small events. We had used a local…read morecompetitor for years for our products and supplies, but when GFS came to town, we decided to try them for a while. Initially things went well, we always got what we needed. We have stopped to shop and asked to have whole cold cuts and cheese sliced when there, but they did not have staff on hand to do it. These days we get asked to call ahead, never used to have to do that, what has changed? Often times we buy on the spot so don't have time to call ahead or drive back. Staff is mostly always nice, professional, store well appointed and clean. However, we started running into not being able to items we normally were able to get, sale items were out of stock when we drove the distance to get there. This doesn't help when you count on a service to help you meet regular needs, so we ended up going back to competitors more now that we have had better luck with. We will still use them, but we are much more careful and don't assume things will be readily available. Not sure if its corporate or management changes locally, but it used to be seamless. Don't advertise if you can't deliver the goods!

A bottle of soda is like $1.75, which, by my Chicago standards is pretty normal. Water is also priced normal. I've never had bad service. I walk up to the counter with my merchandise, pay, get change and leave. What I like best is the map and store rules. I am actually a fan of maps. I think our spatial capabilities suffer just a little bit every time we use google maps to tell us how to navigate while never actually looking at the map and where we are going. In any case, the fine cartography makes navigating 1,000 sq feet much easier. Plus if I were at all uncertain about opinionated whining or paying in large sums of change, I could easily look at the back of the map and realize that these things are not acceptable by the Clerk.

They also do 15% off for birthday coupons if you are a member. Yesterday I was able to clean my 15% off and I had a five dollar reward. I wouldn't say the customer service is the best for my retail manager point of view, but if you ask questions, they will answer them. They don't necessarily go out of their way to ask how you're doing or any of that stuff though. I will say I still enjoy every trip that I go there. Yesterday I bought bubbly an array of items for charcuterie boards, and some really amazing gourmet snacks, not to mention a couple of hot sauces.
