My father wanted to check out Aldi for the first time, so I brought him here. I saw a gingerbread house kit for only $1.29 on clearance, so I had to buy it of course. lol. It was a pretty big size, pre assembled, had everything you needed to decorate, and was already etched with the design, so all you had to do was trace the lines. My toddler and I had a great time decorating, and the end result was beautiful and tasted delicious. Too bad Aldi didn't have any reusable straws in stock. For some reason, I'm reminded of ICA Sweden. Did you know Aldi Nord also owns the Trader Joe's (which operates separately from the group)? It's common in Scandinavia to use a coin to "borrow" a cart which forces you to return it, or you can just leave it in the lot for someone else to use & lose the krona (here it's a quarter). I like the efficiency & common courtesy so your car isn't scratched/nicked by wayward shopping carts. This location is north of Chick-fil-A & has a moderate-sized parking lot with an electric filling station... & the lot is clear of carts. Upon entry, there's disinfecting wipes to clean the cart's handles; this was common practice in some grocery stores & later removed. I liked that Aldi kept this hygiene option. The fresh produce is the first thing you see, which I like, followed by breads & baked goods. If you keep following the path, the refrigerated section holds juices, deli meats, cheeses, & proteins (seafood, beef, pork), then to the right is chicken, eggs & dairy, followed by the frozen items along the perimeter. The center aisles sometimes get shifted around because of inventory or marketing certain products/seasonal themes? Berryhill is a lower cost brand; Simply Nature offers organic products (their organic peanut & almond butters are a good deal). I think the eggs crisis is somewhat over because you can get them at $3.49/dz.; however, there's a 2 carton limit. There's some direct product comparisons so you can see the value between the 2; e.g. 13 oz. of hazelnut spread: Nutella $3.99 vs. Berryhill $2.85, ~29% cost savings. Aldi also offers brand products, but not necessarily at a lesser price than the major grocery stores: Nature Valley, Kellogg's, Cheerios, Doritos, Farmer John, Pitaya Foods, Marias Gamesa, Jarritos, Nongshim & Buldak noodles (these were a pretty good deal), Haribo, La Croix, Good Belly, Waterloo, Poppi, Gatorade, Bolthouse Farms, Helados Mexico, Bomb Pop. They have my fav Herdez Guacamole Salsa here at a pretty good deal... yasss! Unlike other grocery stores, there's little staff around except for the occasional stocker. There's usually only 1 register open, no matter the length of the line; I have yet to see 2 registers open. I think there's 3 lanes? And there's no self-check out. The cashier is efficient, if a bit stoic, scanning & placing your purchases in the cart. There's no bagging clerk & the cashier doesn't bag for you, so you can opt to organize & bag everything inside, or have it done in your car if you forget to bring your bags inside. If you need bags, they're available for purchase (not sure of the cost). I'm not a regular patron, but have been finding myself infrequently here when I'm looking for a handful of items like sugar (to bake), my fav salsa (to go with tortilla chips), bagels & cream cheese, pre-cut pineapples, deli meats & cheeses (for Italian subs). It's conveniently located near 2 major plazas, so if you can't find what you need here, or prefer more specialized items (Whole Foods) or known brands at a traditional market (Vons), they're just a hop & skip away. I had never been in an Aldi's before. Just wanted to see what it was all about. Wide aisles. Looks a little different than the larger chain stores, due to the aisle of general merchandise mixed in with grocery items. The prices aren't that much lower either. I discovered they have a large selection of alternative pastas, not made from white flour. Ie. Brown rice, chick peas, etc. You have to pay for a shopping cart. Don't forget to bring your own bags. Aldi has some decent prices, but the experience can be hit or miss. Every time I go, there are long lines and usually only two cashiers open, which makes checkout way slower than it should be. The food quality is okay, but nothing special. Some items are great deals, while others feel like you get what you pay for. Great place for reasonable priced food like specialty cheese, meats and other fun things. The vegetables are always fresh and they have great pizza to go, Pop that baby in the oven and it's really a treat and they're very reasonably priced like seven bucks!!! Look for Red price tags; those are their sale color codes. Word of advice: choose packaged meat further from the front because I got some that was evidently sitting out for some time and somebody put it back on the shelf and it was spoiled in a week!! :-/ Don't forget your bags and a quarter for the shopping cart !!! read more

Aldi is an interesting take on your traditional supermarket. Their basic premise and philosophy is that they offer food items at cheaper rates than your normal grocery store. From what I can see, in some cases this is true, but in many cases, the prices are pretty much the same. When you walk into the store, the first thing you notices is that it's not super large. It's fairly contained. The aisles are widely spaced, which most people would find as a good thing. The items that line their shelves are not highly stocked, however. So, what this store is really good for is finding that rather unique item that you weren't really expecting to buy. In terms of items like seafood, poultry, and meat items, their prices are pretty much the same as at my local supermarket. The thing I'm saying is don't expect to come in here and to walk away seeing a major difference with your grocery bill. The store is very clean, very organized, and very well put together. So, you're gonna find your items in a clean inviting environment. This store has a large parking lot attached to it. So, you should never be an issue with parking. Overall, not a bad place to shop. But, keep in mind, you're not gonna have the wide selection of choices that you would have at a traditional supermarket read more

100% Aldi is some kind of euro-cult thing. The brands are odd, there's a weird mix of products, and things can be hit and miss. You will find a decent variety of european strange foods, candies, etc. And of course there's the aisles of Kmart like "home products and knock off toys." But what I know is.... - Prices are undeniably LOW - There are some amazing finds to be found - You can almost check off your grocery list - If you're willing to make some compromises you'll save a ton Remember to bring a quarter with you so you can get a push cart. You put the quarter in to "check out" your cart and you get it back when you've clicked it back into the cart parking area. I love Aldi! It's my favorite grocery store. Only downside is that they don't have a whole variety of groceries so can't come here for specific ingredients. But if I'm here to get basic essentials def a go to place. Very clean store and I go here for the CHEAP prices! And quality wise can't really tell how different they are from Ralph's or Albertsons. I've bought a whole pack of a dozen chicken thighs for $7 or so. Butter sticks for less than $4. American cheese for a little more than $1. Honey for less than $3. Other foods I usually come here to buy are sourdough, brioche buns, any fresh produce, dairy products, baking ingredients, and soy milk. Surprised this place isn't crowded every time. I do notice that sourdough runs out sometimes. Glad there's a grocery store chain that doesn't break the wallet in expensive LA. read more

Welcome to Torrance! I love shopping at Aldi! This store opened at 8AM this morning with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony! I missed it because it was scheduled for 8:30AM. No worries though, it meant there was no line when I arrived at 8:15AM! I was greeted with a little clip-on flat Aldi trinket, a shopping bag and a cart (where I didn't need to insert a quarter myself)! They have unique items which are fun to find! If you go on Wednesdays, they stock new limited items. My daughter-in-law is always excited to see what new items they will have! Unfortunately, she moved out of the South Bay and there is no Aldi's near her... she's so sad! She sends me to shop for her now. There seems to be ample parking in the lot. I was kind of surprised at how many EV Charging spots there are! Even one Handicap EV space! There's nothing better than shopping in a new store! I have to commend Aldi for their cleanliness in even their older stores! It makes for a happier experience! I love the variety of goods they sell! I will be back to this location to use my August coupons ($5 off $30) for 3 different weeks! read more

This has become my go-to grocery store this past year - affordable prices and fresh fruit, veggies and meats. Occasionally have run out of what I want if go during peak times like a Friday afternoon or something. Generally checkout goes quickly, they call up more help when needed if more than 3 in line. Store always clean and staff helpful. I love the 'use a quarter to get a shopping cart' system - been used in Europe for 20 years or more- why don't all stores use this?? It efficiently forces everyone to bring the carts back - simple. Otherwise when I go to Vons or Ralphs people leave them everywhere as rude as ever - amazing how 25cents instills humanity!? read more

Their produce is great and their selection of meat is great as well. They have other fun items as well that's aren't food related but for the home and garden and always swap off. If you're expecting lots of choices of one type of cheese like a typical grocery store, Aldi is not your place. If you don't mind, private label items and slight cheaper items, then Aldi is your grocery store. Now that we've gotten that out of way, I've been shopping here for several months and can say I notice significant savings on my monthly grocery bill. I find that most items are slightly cheaper than Ralphs. The salmon is the best value out of all the other grocery stores. They also have great promotions but you need to shop the day the promotions otherwise it sells out. I would say the fruit here is just okay. I do still have to shop at other stores to supplement my groceries. Another thing to note, you do have to have a quarter on hand to use a cart but will get it back when you return the cart. Also, you pretty much have to bag the items yourself since the cashier usually doesn't bag items. There's usually one lane open. Overall, Aldi is good grocery store for value and simplicity but it doesn't have everything. read more

To put it in a few words: This is like the Big Lots of the grocery world without the chain association. So expect no frills and bring your own bag and quarter. This place is awesome for those times when you don't want brand name items, but still want decent items to make meal(s) without fighting with the grocery store line for a couple items. Great for those watching their budgets (who isn't these days?) and portion sizes because while not premium ingredients the grocery items here will do in a pinch. If you find yourself intimidated with too much food and more than you can use at one time before it goes bad in conventional stores, come here. Smaller packages for everyday basics like bread, vegetables and cheese. Perfect for those with smaller appetites or shopping for one. And the quarter? for the shopping cart deposit because you can't use one without it. Not a whole lot of employees and no baggers. Like I said, no frills place and have your payment ready. The shopping carts have this smart way of keeping carts from being abandoned in the parking lot, you put in a quarter and take your cart and once you leave you take your quarter back. Was going to the Gardena Aldi when I first started going to their store. The Gardena Aldi wasn't well stocked. I noticed that the Torrance location is better stocked and seemed to have a bit more variety of products. My favorite item at ALDIs is there premium ice cream which is basically only 5 ingredients and no fillers. Milk, cream, eggs, sugar and vanilla or chocolate. First time at Aldi supermarket I wasn't too pleased the wife and I went to check it out to see what their prices were like seems to be pretty good but they don't have a lot of stuff that we wanted I drink Pepsi all they had was Coca-Cola. I noticed the store wasn't crowded like other ones are that was different and the checkout lines weren't long at all there's handicap parking inside the store there's handicap scooters with also electric car hookups near the street of Crenshaw. The store is okay but I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon but that's just my opinion check it out for your own and see what you think? Prices on a par with Trader Joe's, however beware price on shelf is not always what you are charged at register. No bagging by cashier of course. Definitely a step backwards. I like this store and the prices are good. Granted they don't have some of the major brand items but when reading ingredients, the brands they carry are like what I would buy at major markets. I have purchased very good tasting products from brands I had not heard of before. Aldi is not quite the high level of Trader Joe's, but for everyday groceries I have found the Aldi in Torrance to be just fine. For the most part the employees are fine. It would be helpful if they went the extra mile to help you find something though. Then again, generally you do get the kind of attitude you put out there. :-) P.S. Some people complaining about the 25 cent charge for using a shopping cart didn't mention you get the 25 cents back when you return the cart to where you got it. The price of the Bolthouse Juice is great, but the the carrot juice, and mighty mango juice sell out fast. The buyers need to order more and Stop ordering the strawberry banana smoothie bc that flavor is not very popular. I have purchased every mighty mango and carrot juice from the three stores closest to me, and every time I go there they are sold out . Aldi needs to order and stock more Bolthouse Carrot and mighty mango juice. I wasted five hours this running all over trying to find an Aldi who stocks Bolthouse juice. I try calling but Aldi has no listed local numbers and nobody answers their customer service, and the staffs says that they restock everyday, but when I go back the next day still sold out. I decided to come here to grab some veggies. I also saw a sale on bone in ham. When I got to the cashier, heavy set hispanic dude, turns out the ham I picked was not on sale. He said that the older dated ones were the ones on sale. So I told him I no longer wanted the ham. He placed the ham aside. Then he told me what my total was. It sounded wrong. Then I asked if he charged me for he ham. He said, "Oh, you didn't want the ham? You didn't want it? You don't want it anymore?" Bro, are you for real? He made a mistake and tried to turn it around on me! That is why the ham is over there, instead of in my cart. He kept saying, "It's not a problem. I can void it right now." Then on top of all that, he gave me the wrong receipt. I came back to ask for my correct receipt. Again he said, "It's not a problem. I will give it to you. Just wait a minute." He tries to charge me for a ham I didn't want and then gives me the wrong receipt. Hmmmm I know what the "problem" around here is. I just approached ALDI at 8:55 PM on Monday, June 27, 2022. I knew they closed at 9 PM and planned to run in and buy one item that I needed for dinner. The door was closed and an employee at the door who was vacuuming looked up and gave me the hand across the throat gesture while shaking his head as if to say "no" and then looked away back to his vacuuming. That's it. No other attempt at communication. He opened the door to let customers out and I asked if I could run in to grab the one item I needed. I could have literally grabbed it and been at the checkout by now. His reply: "I can't let you in, it's a safety issue having too many people in the building." A what? You're a grocery store. You advertise being open until 9 PM. I'm a customer. I'm here at 8:55 PM with money to spend. Open the door and let me shop. How difficult of a proposition is this? Even if you're going to have an idiotic store rule such as this, the employee enforcing it doesn't have to be such a lifeless drone. Good customer service goes a long way in situations like this.
