Every time I come in, someone speaks, asks if I need help, or just has a good attitude. It honestly makes a difference because you don't get that everywhere anymore. The store is always a good experience, but the staff is what really stands out to me.

Unfortunately, the shopping experience has some frustrating issues. Some self-checkout machines don't accept cash or coins, and often there's no register open at all, leaving you to scan and bag everything yourself. Why come here if that's going to be the experience? Just go to Whole Foods. They offer Amazon discounts and much better customer service. Prices are on the higher side, and staff at checkout provide minimal assistance. When I asked about cash, one employee simply said, "The machine does not accept cash," with no apology or explanation. For the prices you pay, it's disappointing that basic checkout convenience and cash & coins acceptance for self-checkout machines are NOT consistently available, especially compared to how much effort goes into the store's presentation.

They have pretty much everything you could need when it comes to Japanese groceries and products, and a lot of the items are reasonably priced. There's also a hot food bar, which is a huge plus bc my boyfriend and I like to grab a few things to share whenever we visit :p Shopping here is always a fun experience, and the staff are consistently friendly and helpful, which makes it even better. Highly recommend!

No matter the name, this is my go-to spot for Japanese groceries and prepared food. The parking situation is actually pretty easy and flexible since it wraps around the entire building, so you can usually find a spot without too much hassle. Inside, the selection is great. You'll find a wide range of authentic Japanese ingredients, snacks, and ready-to-eat meals that actually taste like what you'd get in Japan. One underrated highlight is the sushi restaurant upstairs. It's legit and a great option if you want a sit-down meal after shopping. Overall, this place has been a staple for me, and it's one of those spots worth supporting. If you're looking for authentic Japanese food and groceries in the South Bay, I definitely recommend checking it out.

Somewhere in between the Korean Friendship Bell and Korea Town in Los Angeles, but not exactly right next to either. My goal was to go check out Erewhon and all the smoothies and artisanal popcorn that celebrities and food influencers rave about online, but the Torrance H-Mart was an interesting destination in itself. I had to really restrain myself from buying everything that I wanted. I ultimately bought: 1. The Hojicha Tea Black Chocolate from Japan (the brand is Meiji) 2. The Green KitKats (Extra Matcha Tea Chocolate from Japan). 3. The Hanyul Hand Cream (I bought three - Chrysanthemum, Artemisia, and Ja Cho). They smell amazing and keep my hands moisturized. Southern California is so dry compared to Northern California. Ja Cho is Lithospermum Erythrorhizon root extract. 4. The Innisfree Green Tea face mask. 5. The Esfolio Volcanic Ash face mask. It's perfect for dry skin, and creates a healty glow. I asked the lady working there if the Volcanic Ash was from Jeju Island. She had no idea. I bought it anyway because it sounded interesting. 6. The Innisfree Volcanic Clay Mask. I know for a fact that this clay is sourced from Jeju Island, and I've been buying this product for years. Cleans up the sporadic acne flare up fast! It's perfect for combination skin without drying skin too much. They have vegan jerky, Sriracha mayo, and Kimchee Ketchup. I can buy that at any H-Mart, I think, so I didn't buy any of that. I wanted to explore so much more, but so much to do and so little time.
