I have been living near that Aldi for 6 years and have only been there once, for the first time, a week ago(!) Being form Europe, I am sad I didn't go there earlier! you can find a lot of imported goodies at a very reasonable (not to say 'cheap') price. I appreciate the pre-made charcuterie boards you can quickly grab on your way to a winery :) A plus for the veggie's prices and freshness. Place is understaffed, looks old, there is no service but it's clean and properly stocked. Conveniently located next to the Walmart and across Trader Joe's. My son and I stopped to pick up some groceries on our way home. Store is clean, well stocked, and had a great variety of fresh, frozen, produce everything. The prices on mist everything were great or at least comparable to other stores as well. Very easy to get to, close to get on and off the freeway. The staff was super nice, very friendly associate that checked us out. Gave us a little someplace different to buy our groceries and pick up some stuff we do not have at our local grocery store. I don't need to get a cart for five items. So why the attitude with throwing my stuff into the cart in a hurry when no one else is in line. I love ALDI'S!! I love that it's small, has gluten free and healthier snacks, just enough wine, cheese and chocolates along with the household items and gifts I forgot I needed! The produce and meats are mostly prepackaged but that's ok and the selection is more adequate. I'm getting used to the different brands they care and am finding my new favorites. Such a weird store, with weird layout. Very small grocery store. If you're familiar with Fresh and Easy, it's similar to that but with less variety. They have some bread goods, fresh produce, deli, canned foods, snacks, etc. They even sell random things like pajamas and dog beds to name a few. I came here to check out the vegan options and left satisfied. Not sure if I'll make another trip out here as it is out of my way and it highly depends on whether or not I like what I bought. But nevertheless, there were tons of canned beans, veggies and fruit, chips, frozen burgers, hotdogs, cheese, nut/seed snacks, drinks, bread, baby food/snacks, diapers and wipes. So a nice a variety for what it's worth. You do have to take a quarter to get your shopping cart to unlock. You'll get your quarter back when you return it- how's that for an incentive?! The cashier quickly rings you up and tosses items I. Your cart. You are then expected to take your cart over to the table area and bag your own items. I get that this is faster but it's weird and kind of inconvenient. With that said, I've been to Aldi twice. I have yet to see if I'll make another trip as the first time I wasn't impressed and I'm on the fence after this second trip. Bring your bags and a quarter. My go to grocer! Since I only buy the basics Aldi always hits the mark. The staff at this location is exceptionally friendly and they all work so hard to keep the store up to create a great experience for everyone. For as busy as this location is it's usually in a very clean and presentable condition. Aldi's isn't a place to your regular grocery shopping, but more to supplement it. I come here for the great prices on beer, wine, and other adult beverages. Their prices are even less than Costco. :) Sometimes they offer other deals like $0.54 for a dozen eggs. Here's the secret to shopping at Aldi: Green tags - normal prices and always stocked Black tags - new items Red tags - limited items, could disappear any time Bring a quarter if you want to use the shopping cart. But you get it back when you return the cart. There's 7 checkout lanes but I've only seen one open. You have to bring your own bags or you'll pay $0.79 per bag. My wife came home with a big smile and told me she bought a whole bag of Jalapeno peppers for 25 cents (8 whole peppers inside the bag). I told her that was "impossible" to sell packaged jalapenos for that price. So I open the bag and cut off a piece of one jalapeno and put it in my mouth and found zero heat. Then I simply ate the rest of the Jalapeno and found the overall heat level at a 1 out of 10. It was simply a bell pepper that looked like a Jalapeno. The next day my four-year-old grandson was at our house. I told him that Grandma had gotten ripped off at ALDI by thinking she had bought Jalapenos but instead got some cross-breed of mostly green bell pepper. He asked to try one and he proceeded to do what I did. First a small piece and then he bit off big bites of the pepper. It is clear that J&J dumped these peppers on ALDI at a giveaway price and this enabled ALDI to sell for 25 cents a package. I like ALDI, but be more careful you don't commit fraud with the products you sell. These packages should have been labelled something different than "Jalapeno" - Maybe "Bell Pepper Jalapeno" I have been in the Jalapeno and bell pepper growing business for almost 40 years. I have had this happen where the fields are planted too close together and the seeds become a cross bread. Then when you plant those seeds you get a mixed heat Jalapeno. I will tell you that as the peppers aged until they were over-ripened they did get a little spicier. They started out as a 1 out of 10 (for Jalapenos) and the last one that was maximum ripped was a 4 out of 10). read more

Thanks to Aldi, I can feed my family of 7 for less than $500 a month. They have great weekly specials and pretty amazing base prices for staples like eggs, cereals, and canned goods. The store is clean and the food is high quality, unlike other discount stores (Grocery Outlet, BARF). The customer service isn't great. Half the checkers are friendly but the other half are cold, unwelcoming, and bored by their jobs. There are often mistakes made ringing up items (CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS!) and it's a real pain in the butt to get it corrected because the transaction is completed before you realize their mistake. Good luck tracking down an employee to help locate an item you can't find. But HELLO, a dozen eggs is regularly under a buck. Last week I bought boneless skinless chicken breasts for $0.99 a pound. Canned goods are closer to 50 cents than a dollar and sliced bread is the cheapest you'll find it. If you want a luxury experience, this ain't it, but if you're just a thrifty mom trying to feed your family on a budget, Aldi is your Mecca. read more

This one start is for a product I purchased last night. I noticed the expiration on one can of sweetened condensed milk was for 2021! So I looked at the expiration on the other can and it was 2024! Upon opening it, the inside rim of the can was rusted!!! I tried to contact the store and Aldi headquarters but the recording partly said "no customer contact is part of their money savings model". So a shout out to look for expiration dates, yikes you might get botulism and not the kind that takes away wrinkles!! This is why I like this chain: At 900 core products, they have a 'smallish' selection, which allows for smallish stores, smallish rent, and smallish price tags. This is my favorite grocery store. Come here at least twice a month. Yes, it's small. Yes, they don't carry the same things you would find in "big box" stores. Yes, you have to bring your own bags and pack your own goods. Yes, you have to pay a quarter for a cart. And yes, IT'S OK. If the layout bothers you, then I don't know what to say. It's not all that complicated, and after a few trips you can pretty much get the flow. They have their own brand products and a scant amount of major brand names, but overall, not a bad selection. You can find locally sourced produce. You just have to READ the labels or ask. When in doubt, don't get. They also carry seasonal items (right now, it's patio furniture). They have limited supplies on stock, so hurry and get what you like. I made the mistake of waiting on something once, and I missed out. Checkout is a breeze. Just keep in mind that you should bring your own reusable bags. If you don't have any, you can use their empty boxes (like at costco). When you're all done and you're groceries are packed in your car, you return the cart and get your quarter back! Not a big deal. The trip here is worth the savings everytime. The store is clean, the staff are always pleasant and friendly, and the products are good. read more

This is Trader Joe's cheap little sister (owned by the same German family). I came on a whim (and without a quarter- seriously, who carries cash anymore?) because I was curious and in the area. After scanning the cold cases from dairy to meat, I thought to myself, "Crap. The only thing with clean ingredients that I can buy is Kerrygold butter." Thankfully, I decided to meander up and down every aisle to check out what they have. I found a lot of things to be at least a dollar cheaper than Trader Joe's, such as avocado oil, ground flax seeds, unsweetened chocolate squares and spices. The cartons of organic mixed greens were almost 2$ cheaper than Ralph's, Sprouts and Frazier. I think the best brand here is Simply Nature, and I scanned aisles for those products. I'd like to note I'm not all for organic, but they tend to have cleaner ingredients. Overall, I ended up very impressed with select sections, but I can't do most of my shopping here. As others have mentioned, the variety of products is more limited than Trader Joe's and they don't have as much in the way of organic produce and products, but it still offers great value. My latest finds include: yellow mangos $.30 ea hass avocados $.30 - 80 ea beet hummus $1.99 (absolutely yummy!) wild caught salmon filet $5.99 lb Fresh mozzarella in water $2.99 Meioni Pinot Noir wine $15.99 just to name a few.... And the store is very well kept, clean organized and stocked wherever possible. As a grocery store I absolutely love shopping here. I love this store. They have a little bit of everything kind of like Trader Joe's. I always find something neat and buy more than what I planned for. I docked off one star only because they usually have one register and the line tends to get pretty long. Other than that I have zero complaints.. I buy eggs here all the time because they are the most affordable in town. They have a large cheese and wine selection and home stuff you didn't know you needed lol if you haven't been to an Aldi yet I would recommend it. Luke Warm Trip to Aldi. I had never heard of Aldi before a few months ago when someone in Trader Joes mentioned it. They spoke about it as if it were so amazing. I went armed with reusable bags and my friend to grocery shop till we dropped! But nothing like that happened. Boo! Lol Ofcourse the store was clean and staff were friendly as it just opened a few days ago. The store has a "Fresh N Easy" feeling to its flow but prices aren't really competitive to it. I personally was looking for great organic produce and hoping they would have a few Vegan Options (meats, cheese, spreads, etc.) I'm not full vegan but eating more plant based is my goal and finding yummy alternatives would have been awesome but they had nothing. The organic produce was a small section of bananas and root veggies. Nothing to run home about. The one section we did get a pep up from was in the middle of the store with the random household or lifestyle items they sold. Sleeping bag for $10? Shoes? A carry on suitcase for $29, how about a child's fisher price swings!? They have it! Haha That part reminded us of Costco but on a much smaller scale. Other than that we just picked up a few random things which we ended up putting most back since we realized we actually didn't need them, we just didn't want to leave empty handed. Oooh Women! My purchases were a bunch of bananas, (2) organic vegetable broths, and (2) cans of white beans for just under $7. (Not bad ) All in all its not a store for people who want higher quality and organic products. It's a go in a grab a few things you like but plan to go to another bigger store (Trader Joes, Costco, Ralphes...) to finish off your grocery list! Go check it out and see for yourself. read more

Meh. Good for some real basic essentials, but that's it. Limited selection due to their small size. There was a handful of things that were a steal, though most other item prices are comparable to Walmart, WinCo, Food4Less, and Grocery Outlet. Like two of those, you bag your own stuff, but you have to pay for any plastic or paper bags they give you. You even have to pay a quarter to get a cart. However, you get it back when you return the cart to the front of the store. So it's like a deposit. I went on the day of their grand opening and there was still a line outside of people waiting to get in when I got there. At least I arrived early enough to get a free reusable bag, which I didn't use because I didn't buy anything. read more

When they first opened, they were a good place to shop for decent quality produce and meat, and ad specials...that has totally disapeared! They quit mailing ads few months ago. Their ads now are on line, good only 48 hrs, and are usually out of stock by morning of 2nd day. Isn't there some type of law that advertised items must be in stock? Not even a raincheck offered. I have to tell you every time I shop at this store, even during the current health crisis, all of the employees are friendly and welcoming. They are always smiling and attentive to their customers. The prices are good for most of their items but they only my have generic items which is hit or miss. I thought I was getting a great deal in a pack of 24 waters but realized when I got home that the bottles are 3/4 the size of a regular water. Didn't love their cheddar cheese. It's also a pain to have to find a quarter to release the shopping cart and then to have to return it to get the shipping cart back. Staff are not helpful and a bit rude. They sit at the cash register and won't put your items in a bag as they are checking you out. But if you are looking for a place to shop to save on groceries this is it. read more

We've now checked out the Escondido Aldi as well as this Vista location. Both store offer some decent prices on their canned goods, eggs, coffee creamers and other items. The fresh produce at. It's locations is ripe to the point of ready to spoil. Unlike Trader Joe---Aldi doesn't tell you where their produce is brought in from. Worrisome since some countries with cheap produce exports still permit copious usage of DDT and other toxins. Both stores can be a bit depressing inside. Selection is not so good and their go to off brand is several steps below that of Trader Joe. The only reason this store earned a third star rather than the two stars allotted to their sister store in Escondido is that this location has no hill in the center of their parking lot. The denting of our car in their Escondido parking lot cost us about 600 times more than any savings. read more
