Still a two star review…read more... The San Marcos Farmers Market is on Friday night now. I think it was on Tuesday night before.... It's on North City Drive and that part of the street is closed. It's completely pedestrian friendly, so one star for that. There's live music, plenty of food stands, jewelry stands, handmade things, local arts, etc. As my partner and I strolled the entire thing in less than 15 minutes, we both agree...this isn't a farmer's market. A farmer's market has stands and stands of fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, even locally produced jams, honey, etc. This had TWO stands and what they offered was very limited. Now, if the city of San Marcos called this anything but a Farmer's Market, this would easily be a 5 star review. Music, food trucks, family friendly, local vendors, Wynston ice cream right there...it's a great way to end the week/start the weekend. But to call it a Farmer's Market? No way...it's quite a stretch. Two stars.

I got to try a Macaron making class and it was a fun experience. It was supposed to take 2.5 - 3 hours. The other party was late so we started about 10 minutes late and we went way over 3 hours. The class is very hands on. You get detailed instructions, and a template for the Macaron shapes. The instructor is the owner, and she is Cordon Bleu trained and loves making Macarons and Chocolate. She will tell you all about her schooling, background, experiences, and the history of the Macaron. The instructor will walk you through the process step by step, explaining why you have to be precise and follow each step completely and in order if you want to get good results. She also explains how you may need to add a little extra of an ingredient based on the humidity, the science behind it, etc. You make the Macaron shells and you also make Italian butter cream filling to put in the Macaron. You will get 14-16 delicious Macarons depending on how you follow the template design setup. Enjoy my photos.

Frustrating experience at the deli counter at Albertsons…read more I asked for one pound of thin-sliced chicken with paper between the slices, which is a completely normal deli request. The employee immediately pushed back, saying I wouldn't need paper if I ordered thicker slices. When I repeated what I wanted, he groaned like a child, moved painfully slowly, and acted like the request was a huge burden. He only cut half a pound and by that point the attitude was so unpleasant that I just gave up and took it. The bad attitude and constant groaning made a simple order feel like I was inconveniencing him just by being there. Customer service at this deli counter needs serious improvement.
