Aldi is the best! Even if you see the parking lot packed, able to get around the store quickly. Sometimes there is a line to check out, but no biggie. Their quality and prices are top notch. I used to not buy meat from aldi, but quality has definitely improved. Sometimes they even carry Perdue chicken. The aisle of shame gets me all of the time. Their candles are almost comparable to bath and body works. Lots of cute items that can be given as gifts. Their products are usually well stocked. If you don't mind bagging your own groceries and being patient if there is a line, this store is for you! read more

Very rude staff unfortunately, was my first visit just now and I most def won't return. My aunt who lives out of state is an Aldi fan but clearly my own local store sucks. Staff really rude and unfriendly, no eye contact whatsoever. And ponytailed Hispanic guy checking out people (at the lone open cashiers site btw; 2pm on 8/14) threw a mini hissyfit when I left w/ the cart he had put my items in ("THE CART NEEDS TO STAY HERE")- how in the world are people expected to know how things work at Aldi?? Yeesh. I walked back to inform him that he should take into account that there could be brand new customers. And consider not being a Jerk. He too had zero eye contact, I walked away as he just stood there mouth agape. Will continue to be a loyal customer of Brookhaven just down the road (LOVE them, been going there 20+ years, staff nice, produce fresh), good 'ol Jewel, Mariano's, and Trader Joe's !!! I'm going to say this is the best Aldi in the area (definitely better than the one on 75th in Darien). The selection is great and, since this is a newly built facility, it's clean and amazing. They have all of your basic food staples plus a few "gourmet items" (definitely gourmet for what Aldi used to have). This location also has a lot of limited time only specialty items (like cheeses and meats) which is great. The frozen food selection is great and the staff is always friendly. Aldi also encourages you to use your own bags (as they always have) by asking you to bring your own or pay for the ones you get from the store - awesome! Highly recommended for food staples in your pantry over Jewel or Dominick's because you can get the same things for much, much less. read more

I like this aldi a lot. I have started coming here regularly for my groceries and I always find what I am looking for without a problem. The layout is well done and the store is clean. And the prices are better than any other grocery store that I have ever been to. The employees are also decent especially giana. Giana is the best employee at this store and she has been my cashier several times. She's very friendly and helpful and is the model example of what a grocery store employee should be. She deserves a raise. I'll definitely be back in the future. read more

Yeah, it's probably better than the one on 75th, but then again it's15 years younger! Great staff, good place to go if your leaving your car at Discount Tire. Pretty nice place. My family does most of our shopping here, and I find it amazing how they offer great products for less! Super clean with a wide range of healthy foods. Not to say they don't have sweets-we love their pastry crisps. It's disappointing that they don't have a deli (if they did we would get all our food from here) but everything they do have is wonderful, including tortillas that we often buy warm-so good! They also don't offer many products that aren't food, like toilet paper, so we are unable to do all our shopping in one stop. I highly recommend shopping here, but don't expect to get everything on your list. read more

This place has great prices, good food, (mostly) and nice workers. While the prices are great, some of the food seems to have gone bad, so double check what you get. Also, make sure that before you get here, to bring a quarter to get your cart and also some of your own bags,( bags cost a nickel each if you don't bring your own, and you can get your quarter from the cart at the end). read more

Aldi has become my new favorite grocery store- I go there more often than Trader Joe's! Their unique products are so different and so delicious. I've become addicted to their pita chips and can eat them with anything! In addition, their seafood is perfect when used with my Sous Vide. I also love their filled pastas- each flavor is more delicious than the next! read more

This location is so bright, fresh, and clean! It was definitely more busy than the regular Aldi I'm used to. They had SO MUCH PUMPKIN (the 100% canned pumpkin stuff) in stock. Coincidence that it was October 1st when I went haha? I really don't know when it came in stock, but I bought probably half of it right then and there. Everything seemed to be well-stocked and well-organized. They had employees doing replenishing in a couple of the aisles which was good to see. Our cashier was funny and friendly. I only came for two items (clearly pumpkin being one of them, and then heavy whipping cream...fall desserts here I come!), but I'm happy to see how much more they're expanding. The Good: fantastic selection, perhaps the best in the western suburbs The Bad: customer service/cashiers - no baggers gives the aldis cashiers the opportunity to *throw* fragile goods into your cart. Last time I went I was shopping with my mother, and as I was putting the items on the conveyer belt from our original shopping cart - my mother was *trying* to gently pile the fragile goods into the second cart after the cashier checked the item. Only the woman would refuse to hand my mother any of our purchased items my mom was trying to take from her - and instead was wiping them into the cart without really looking as fast as she could right past my mother's hands. There was absolutely no one behind us in line at that moment and so no excuse for this lack of consideration and hastiness. (When some of the more fragile items are getting broken or damaged, what was the point of saving money?) My mother was so frazzled and felt so degraded by this incident (and apparently other past bad experiences with this franchise chain) now she will not to go to any Aldis anymore. read more

This is my favorite Aldi in the burbs. It's super close to my mom's house, really clean and only crowded on the weekends. They have everything every Aldi has, which is awesome. Also, the skim milk, I know I'm obsessed but it's important to me. I would definitely come here instead of going to 75th. read more

Rude employee named Giana. She started to put groceries in a different cart than the one I had my kids in. This has never happened to me at any other Aldi or other grocery store. I then politely asked her to please not do that since I can't push 2 carts. Then comes the attitude immediately. She practically starts yelling at me that she can't because there are 2 kids in the cart. Ok fine, I tell her I've never encountered that before but fine. I push my kids cart over and tell her to continue. For some reason she then tells me that if anything happens she can be sued. I said ok, that's fine I said ok already, please continue, there's a line of people I don't want them waiting I didn't ask for any further explanation. She then says, I'll even ask, and proceeds to call another employee to confirm. They confirm and she says see I told you. I reply, I never asked you to confirm and Im not arguing with you, I said ok the first time and asked you to continue. You're the one making this into a big deal and holding up the line. Continue checking me out. She then mumbles something under her breath. Mind you both my kids are silent and just watching this horrible display of character. They never said a word so can't say my kids were misbehaving. She then pushed my cart so far away I had to walk a bit to get to it, away from my kids. This has never happened to me before in the years I've been shopping at Aldi. I asked her why did you shove my cart like that, I haven't even paid yet. Then she mumbles something. I pay and she rudely says have a nice day. I'm calling corporate and going back to speak to a manager. She should be reprimanded. I never want anyone fired, maybe she had a bad day, wtv, we all do, doesn't mean you can take it out on customers. read more

What's not to love about Aldi?! If you you are sitting there behind your screen reading this and going "meh." Then you my dear madam (or sir) have never been. Aldi is a NO frills, no BS grocery store. Every aspect of your shopping experience is designed to keep the most amount of money in your pockets. For example, one thing I am a MAJOR fan of is their shopping cart strategy. You put a quarter into a small device on the row of "locked" shopping carts, and it'll release a shopping cart for you to be on your merry way to frolic upon the low prices on all items in the store. And after you're done shopping and have dumped all the goodies in to the trunk of your car you bring the cart back where all the other carts are to get back your quarter. It may seem like a silly, punitive strategy, but it works! Even though its just a quarter, everyone wants it back, and as a result all the carts ALWAYS get returned to the carousel. You'll never have the nightmare of returning to your car surrounded by a gang of angry carts, or worse seeing a cart that slammed into your rear end. So that little quarter saves you headache, hassle, and keeps prices LOWWWW, since Aldi doesn't have to worry about paying for car/cart related casualties. (Plus, you get a little more exercise this way haha). Again, like mentioned before Aldi does whatever it can to keep prices low. I'm talking about there have been times where I got a dozen eggs for 90 cents milk for $1.20, and bread for $0.69-- and no they weren't radioactive, broken or molded lol. That being said, another way they keep their prices low is that YOU BAG YOUR OWN GROCERIES, and you PAY FOR THE BAGS. Buying bags is of course optional! And you are more than welcome to reuse your own bags!!!. Another way people "bag" their stuff (because lets be honest, you're probably going to forget those reusable bags all the time lol) is via "boxing" their stuff. This means that all the products that aldi has is not lined up in shelves. It's available in open-faced boxes. Once these boxes are emptied of its contents the staff will clear the boxes out-- OR you can just grab these boxes for yourself and fill your groceries in them. I prefer boxing my stuff :) YES Aldi is super cheap, but it's ALWAYS organized. You will never find yourself fighting through a jungle of produce strewn on the floor. But what about you mavericks with a panache for the finer or exotic things in life? Maybe you're doing Paleo, maybe you have an allergy to Red 40, maybe you just like going against the grain for no reason at all. Have no fear, your Aldi genie is here. In the last couple years there has been an exponential explosion of organic products in Aldi's aisles. Organic fresh produce, organic canned produce, cereals, pasta sauces, frozens, snacks, Grade A FRESH organic maple syrup, three types of goat cheese, agave syrup, ALMOND FLOUR, ALMOND MILK, ALMOND BUTTER you name it, You want organic baby kale no bigger than an inch in diameter for under $3? You'll find it! You know those exotic yuca-taro-sweet potato vegetable chips that you find for almost $8 depending on the size of the bag? Yeah. Generic organic version here, ~$2.89. You want organic AND hispanic Menudo beans? how about low-sodium Tajin seasoning? Maybe you want the Supremo Chihuahua cheese BUT IT HAS to be the mega size? THIS IS WHERE YOU FIND ALL OF THESE, pay with a $10 and still have a few cents to spare. The only reason why I gave this a 4/5 is simply based on this Aldi's size; its a little smaller than a few others I went to so I was unable to find a couple items (like freeze-dried strawberries), but those items are so obscure that it doesn't affect most people, and if you really want it that bad, another location will definitely have it. TL;DR: Come armed with a quarter for your cart, no frills shopping experience; clean and organized, but grab an empty box if you stumble upon one to fill your groceries in them because Aldi is a self bag philosophy. They take only cash and Visa. Come here no matter what your budget is, diet is, organic/allergies etc. YOU WILL FIND IT and you will still have a fat wallet after. read more

A great place to save your money. The quality of the food is as good as any other and you can get more for the same amount of money. They don't have a big selection but when you are on a budget they have what you need to get by. Their selection also varies depending on the time of year and is sometimes crowded but still doesn't take away from the fact they provide the essentials at the best prices. read more

Ever since I started shopping at Aldi, I have saved so much money and also I am so very impressed with the quality of the food as well as the home/garden items they offer. I live much closer to the Hodgkins location, but going to this Aldi is worth the trip! What a selection - and the place is really clean! Love It! The staff is very friendly as well. And yes, it is definitely the BEST ALDI in the area. read more
