Mariano's stores have a classy vibe. They exude an aura of quality. Their stores have an excellent ambiance. When I walk in, I notice the stores are well-organized with phenomenal displays. I value that Mariano's stores typically have a wide variety and selection. I have appreciated the ability to obtain prepared foods at Mariano's, including delicacies like sushi. I have found other great prepared foods at Mariano's that I enjoyed a lot, e.g,. succulent beef pot roast. It is fantastic that Mariano's have self checkout kiosks, which can help with convenience. I had a terrible experience here and reached out to the corporate office 2 weeks ago to resolve it. Since submitting the following complaint I have received 2 generic responses about my complaint being received and escalated, but there has been no resolution whatsoever. I thought I would share my experience here, too, as I want to warn the community about the terrible practices this particular location and corporate office follow. Please read my complaint: I am writing to formally express my outrage regarding the treatment my husband and I received at your store on March 12, 2026. As loyal customers for several years, we frequently purchase Ensure multipacks for a family member undergoing chemotherapy. We rely on manufacturer coupons provided by the hospital to offset these medical costs--a process that has been seamless (at least at other locations) until today. ​What should have been a routine $3.00 coupon transaction devolved into a series of inexcusable professional failures: * Public Humiliation: The self-checkout attendant, Rei, argued with me relentlessly in front of other customers, making me feel like a criminal for presenting a valid manufacturer coupon. * ​Refusal of Service: When my husband attempted a similar purchase, he was flatly denied help. Despite a "Best Customer" bonus causing a system conflict, management refused to override or even investigate the error. * ​Managerial Negligence: The manager, Daniel Berg, refused to speak with us initially. When my husband approached him to explain our history with these coupons, Daniel remained dismissive and "would not lift a finger" to assist. * ​Hostile Escalation: When I returned to request the names of the employees involved for this complaint, Daniel actively avoided eye contact, spoke to me in a condescending tone, and then called security on me. ​It is appalling that a customer asking for employee names to file a formal report would be treated as a security threat. To be met with such hostility--while witnessing Courtney at the service desk simultaneously arguing with an elderly man over similar savings--speaks to a deep-rooted culture of poor management at this location. It's not the first time that I have witnessed staff here treating elderly customers poorly and arguing with them over their confusion about digital coupons or discounts. Instead of trying to help them and putting the coupon through as we've seen whole foods or jewel do, they regularly argue with customers and refuse to offer any assistance. Again, there is an extremely poor culture at this location. Although sad, it's not surprising since at one point, at our request, Daniel involved his supervisor, but she was also inexcusably rude. Lacoro, who is, as we're told, the Store Director of this location, refused to help at all stating that if the coupon doesn't scan there is nothing that they will do, though other locations often accommodate. ​I have never felt so uncomfortable or disrespected in a retail environment. Due to the lack of empathy and the aggressive escalation by Daniel Berg and Lacoro, we will no longer be shopping at this location. I expect this matter to be investigated and for management to be trained on basic conflict de-escalation and customer retention. This was unacceptable. read more

For the most part it's a good location. I don't recommend getting any of the packaged ready to eat chicken wings/drumsticks. For some reason, they use way too much salt. Also the ready to eat mac and cheese can be skipped as well. I prefer this location over the one on Naper blvd, they have a gas station and not as much traffic. What a horrible experience. First of all I got a cart that was really hard to push making the whole shopping experience frustrating. Next I couldn't find cereal because the aisles were poorly labeled on the overhead signs. At the end of the trip I decided to stop by floral and was about to purchase a gigantic gorgeous hanging plant, but there were no prices on it anywhere, no signs with prices, and nobody around to tell me the price. I decided just to check out. The woman who bagged my groceries just threw everything in without looking so in my paper bag the boxed items were tipped at funny angles, my quart of milk, was tossed on top of everything, including my produce. The woman who was checking me out couldn't get the cash register to function correctly. It was just a bad experience all around. The only reason I'm giving any stars is because they had a hard to find cereal. read more

One of the things I like the best about Mariano's is that it's truly one stop shopping. Not only because of all of the departments you'd expect bakery, liquor, flowers, and so on. But they carry all the specialty type things you'd find at Whole Foods along with all the more generic things you'd find at jewell. They have a large and high quality assortment of just about everything. Additionally, the store is very well organized with visible signs to help you find things. A major plus when you're trying to navigate a busy store. The staff is very friendly and the cashiers tend to remember repeat customers. Also, having a bar you can stop and enjoy a glass of wine at while your shopping certainly is a nice edge on the competition. They also have a fancy cheese department that's operated by a knowledgable employee. An absolute bonus. I shop here several times a week and absolutely recommend it. read more

It's a really clean location. The prices are a bit higher than other grocery stores, but it is clean and they have friendly staff.

I generally like Mariano as a grocery store, but this one is pretty gross. You can always find rotten meat on the shelf and you can smell it once you get near the department. They have refrigeration units on the floor that pump out a horrific smell. Produce here isn't great either. I will say we have had success with the bakery. They have a great selection of different breads. Just avoid the produce and meat department here and you should be ok. read more

Great place for groceries shopping and lunch. I come here a lot for their hot bar and salad bar. Their soups is really what brings me in. They usually have like 8 options and all are fresh. And they are $6 for a large. The salad bar has everything you need with a dozen of dressings. Good choices on fruits and berries. The hot bar is also great with the options always shuffling. They have several options of chicken, potatoes and rice. As well as lots of good vegetables. read more

Hardly any bakery. 1 Butcher in the meat dept with a line of people waiting. No pizza @ the pizza area. Employees look very unhappy, never smile. In general the place looked sloppy. The atmosphere is always comfortable ( some other stores in the area are so cramped and dirty) and the staff always seems helpful. Came back to this location after purchasing a rotisserie chicken that was raw on the inside. I did consume the chicken and I'm pretty sure I had food poisoning as a result. Customer service at the desk was great and they were very understanding. I decided to buy lunch and go to the deli section for chicken salad. There were two older women working along with a younger guy taking numbers. (There were other people working behind them as well but it seemed as if they may have been assigned a different task). To help with social distancing we moved down further since there was a crowd forming. As a result, it seems we missed our number being called. In our defense you're shouting through your face mask across the entire deli line at peek business hours. I go up to one of the older women and tell her my number. Both immediately catch an attitude and one of the women rolled her eyes and said, " we've already called that number numerous times" or something around that. One of the women did help us which I thought was nice even though our number had already been called. I thanked her again and added there her coworker was very rude. I just thought the attitude was very unnecessary. Especially since I'm with a friend from out of state whose never been to Mariano's. I felt quite embarrassed after bragging about the customer service. It's still true this guy in the orangish shirt in the self check out lane was very enthusiastic and helpful. I spoke with Jaylen over the phone about my raw chicken he was very nice as well; but the old ladies in deli maybe were due for a lunch break. Some of the reviews here are odd. You really have to take Yelp reviews with a grain of salt. Tanking a company's reviews with one star because they no longer carry the soup you like? I mean it sucks ( I hate when Trader Joe's gets rid of things...but that doesn't mean I poorly rate my local TJ's). Someone else gave one star and claimed they "only" have self-checkout? That's absurd and there's a big check out area with SEVERAL registers at this store. Its one thing to say the layout is wonky (at most stores you have typically have to pass the checkout lines in some capacity to exit), but being in a store that large and assuming they only have self-check out and not even asking.... As for MY actual review: I've been to this store several times during each of my visits to Illinois. They have a large selection and the staff, when I've needed them, is friendly and helpful. The store is clean and well maintained. I like that its spacious with tons of things that make me feel like I'm in a Whole Foods (big bakery, deli, hot bar, pizza, coffee - they even have a bar) - but with more accessible product selection and prices. read more

Signs in the front says to wear a mask, it isn't optional. We are still in the pandemic and with omicron occuring, high spikes of positive covid-19 results. I would expect employees and even managers to encourage their customers to follow rules. But no, every time I go to this store there are plenty of customers and sometimes not all the time employees themselves not wearing masks. Please start to tell your customers to think of others and who cares if you have a confrontation with them, I would rather managers to enforce the sign they put up with wearing a mask. I used to brag about Mariano's Italian Sausage, now it may have burnt me and made me sick? Burnt Me???? Yes, the last two purchases of Sausage were sooo' fat ladened that the flame shot up on my BBQ grill and singed my my hair and I'm 6' tall. The fat grease also made me sick and they didn't taste like the Italian Sausage I used to buy all the time. It's a Jen Air gas grill and was set at Medium with only 8 sausages on the grill. These sausages really spit the greace out of them. I noticed as beef rose to $6.99 a pound that the sausage remained at $2.99 a pound. Who are they fooling?...add some extra fat to the mix and nobody will notice! OK, I shop at Mariano's once a week since the beginning in Westmont. This store is not as good as the one in Naperville. We moved from the city and used to shop at the Mariano's in Ravenswood - which was fabulous. So we were excited to try the Mariano's here. It's okay as long as you don't buy anything from the meat counter. We keep getting rotten meat. :( First we bought pre-packaged chicken, open it up a few days later to cook it, and it's spoiled. It is one day before the sell-by date. Next we bought some of the ribeye steaks that were on sale. They were from the meat counter, and we were so excited. They were well-marbled, looked great. We opened them one day before the cook-by date, and they had turned all grey on the edges. We smelled the package and they had spoiled. Both times we went back to the store and they let us exchange the meat for fresh products, but it's still not acceptable. That's our time, money for gas, etc. We will not be buying meat from Mariano's anymore - we're going to look for a local butcher instead. By the way this happened at the Mariano's on Roosevelt in Lombard too. We bought some sirloin from the meat counter and it had spoiled by the next day. Definitely one of the best places for perfect shopping! It has always been a habit of mine to shop, whether I just need a break from a tiring week or just wanting to have a nice buy once again, and this is the best place for me. They really have everything that I need whenever I shop, even from just the simple things like coffee for my husband to fresh foods I need whenever I need to cook something that I want to try. I also do baking and they also have some stuff that helps me so much with it, measuring cups, flours, and other more baking equipment. Their foods are fresh and their aisles are well organized. They really stock everything quickly and their service is phenomenal. They would assist you whenever you need to find something and would help you with if ever you need their opinion. I've been itching for this place to open up for months! It is super close to home for me so I really think this will be my new grocery store shopping spot. I have never been inside a Mariano's before but heard only good things. I stopped in yesterday morning just to check it out. My toddler was in tow so we just meandered through the aisles and took in everything there was to see. Little "shops" or "bars" offered within the store include: - Coffee/breakfast sandwiches (they also make crepes) - Juice and smoothies - Gourmet popcorn and chocolates - Wine - Sushi There may be something else I'm missing, sorry that's all I can remember right now! Since my husband happened to be off work today, all three of us decided to get coffee and breakfast here since I told him about stopping in yesterday. There was no line ahead of us but a line quickly grew behind us as we started to order. My hubs and I got the combo of coffee and breakfast sandwich plus an oatmeal with berries and almonds. Total was $11, not bad. You can tell this place is new based on the service though. Everyone is very eager to help, but a little slow to figure it out. I think once this place has been going for a little while everyone will be able to make things move a little smoother. (Took a while to enter our order into the computer and the line was backed up for a little bit). We sat down in the cafe and waited for our food. FYI, that cafe needs some shades, the early morning sun was peeking in and totally blinding us! The food was hot and exactly what we ordered. Both sandwiches, different kinds, were really buttery and greasy. They were, I believe, prepared ahead of time and popped into the toaster once we ordered. Not something I would look forward to eating, but in a pinch I would get it again. Just get extra napkins. Then the oatmeal had a few berries and a handful of slivered almonds in it. It was just meh. Tasted like instant cinnamon Quaker oatmeal. You get a good amount of it though. I wouldn't suggest it. Coffee was good. Produce section was immaculate, much like the rest of the brand-spanking-new store. Mostly regular produce, seemed to have a small selection of organic. They have a hot food bar, salad bar, and olive bar that you can get a to go box with. Perfect for a healthy meal option on the go. They have a fairly large floral section with gorgeous flowers! My daughter kept smelling all the flowers, it was super cute. But we were there for a while since there were a lot of flowers to smell! Overall I look forward to doing my main shopping here from now on. I think the prices are comparable to or cheaper than Standard Market and Whole Foods. The quality seems to be right on par still. This place is the cleanest and organized grocery store I have ever been to! They have so wide selection of food, goods, and others. Mariano's does well in fresh produce, has a good bakery, a good cheese section, and even a small hot food area. But the aisles don't seem to be well organized and they're are always changing them around. Food selection is limited. It uses Kroger as their local supermarket provider, food is fairly high priced. It does carry freshly squeezed fruit juices, except they seem to always be out of juice except for orange juice. It's not a bad place to find specialty foods, but again, the selection is limited. The Bloody Mary is really good... We ordered 3 drinks each ... C'mon it's $5 each ... Bloody Mary was really good....mimosa was good too.... You can walk around with your drink... Bummer part is... You have to bring your glasses back to the bar... I wish they had an area to drop off the glasses around the store... I'm not trying to compare this to The Cube ( Standard Market ) but I also wish the bar is across the cheese section not across the meat section... Right across the bar is where we got our steaks ( which btw... My BF grilled Sunday and was really quality superb cuts anyways... It's just positioned in a weird area and not much seating. So while walking around with our drinks, we got hungry and ordered pizza and found some seating at the dome. But we still couldn't drop off the glasses there :/ bummer! Speaking of pizza... We ordered a Napoleon Margherita Pizza... And it was burnt... More burnt than the normal oven pizzas I've ordered in other places.... When Mariano's initially opened in Westmont, we were so excited and so pleased with everything about the store. Now, just 3-4 years later, it is poorly managed...with the biggest emphasis on items not being available (especially in produce), dirty, and seemingly entirely dependent upon self-checkout to move customers out of the store. The employees seem like they just don't care...which is sad. There are many items we love at Mariano's, but will hesitate to go too often...we are now shopping at Pete's Fresh Market more than anywhere else. Please help to fix this store...especially with the merge with Albertsons. We'd love to see Mariano's stick around in our neighborhood if it's improved. read more

I just wrote a tip on how nice Ivan was in the checkout lane. I just got home from shopping at this store on the way home from the city and, low and behold, Ivan did not bag one of six items I Purchased. I need that item for a dinner I'm hosting tonight. I talked to Angela at the front desk and she said to hold onto the receipt and they would either refund my money or give me the product, but that doesn't help me as I live a half an hour away and don't shop at this store. Now I have to be inconvenienced, get back in the car and go buy this item. I will never be shopping here again! No wonder it has lower ratings. read more

This has to be the most screwed up store I've seen most mariano's are great this place is out of something everytime you go in there then you get a raincheck when they finally have the item in stock you have to stand around for 10 minutes before they can find someone who knows how to adjust the price they really need to get some managers that aren't totally incompetent and train their employees how to do their job.
