I came here for a double date for their Grecian dinner event and it was such an awesome experience! This mansion is gorgeous and we were seated in the indoor patio section. Even with snow on the ground outside, we were warm the whole dinner. The food was delicious (the lemon chicken soup was my favorite) and the portions were really generous and with the multi-course meal we were stuffed and I had to take the baklava home which I definitely enjoyed later! I loved my mulled wine cocktail which was so cozy on a winter night but I also had a sip of the pomegranate cosmo and it was super refreshing! Service was super friendly and prompt and I was amazed at how busy they got as the night went on but the staff never seemed overwhelmed and kept on with their gracious service the whole night. read more

We had 5:30 reservations for dinner on a night open to the public. After being seated at approximately 5:35, we were left sitting at the table for over 30 minutes before anyone came to the table (my husband finally had to go to ask whether we had been forgotten). I understand places being short-staffed, but this was ridiculous. I ordered a chicken dish and it was mediocre at best. My first time for dinner was very pleasant especially due to the bar staff of Brendon and the lovely and delightful Heather. I was surprised that the Wednesday menu was reasonably priced simple fare. Due to the splendor of the setting I was expecting a high end selection of fish, fowl and meats; quite the opposite it was burgers and salads. The seating arrangements were equally elegant with views and accompanying piano music. The rather plain entrance off the parking lot, through the service area was unexpected but you can't have everything. Be sure to make reservations! read more

First time visiting this very pretty historical home. Each dining area is with its own feeling of history. Group of 4 started with the appetizers plate. It was good but had tiny dots of cheese and the Gherkin pickles were tasteless. Aldworth Manor is a dream wedding venue. Shane and the Long family are so easy to work with and we had the perfect weekend with family and friends. Our guests couldn't stop raving at how beautiful everything was. The food was delicious - we were able to do a flexible mediterranean buffet, for which Joan and the kitchen staff were very accommodating (lots of guest dietary restrictions). Brendon, the bartender, made one of the best Blood Moon margaritas and we had a great time talking to him during the rehearsal dinner and during the reception. We loved that our family and friends could stay on the property with us, to make it a weekend of quality time with loved ones. The Aldworth staff made our day incredible, we are so lucky to have had our wedding at Aldworth. We cannot recommend this venue enough. read more

Although Aldworth Manor is a beautiful setting, the dinner was sub par. We were a larger group (eight) and were seated promptly. Our waitress came in after about ten minutes and asked what we would like to drink. We asked up front for separate checks per couple. It took at least 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive and we ordered our dinners when they were delivered. Our food came in an appropriate amount of time and our waitress was friendly and trying her best. After eating our food we waited for about a half hour before our waitress asked if we would like desert. Some said yes and some ordered coffee. Two people ordered after dinner drinks. the deserts arrived about 20 minutes later and the coffees. No dinner drinks. Our dinner plates and empty drink glasses were never cleared from our table. One after dinner drink was delivered. Eventually the waitress returned to tell the person who ordered his after dinner drink that they did not have what he wanted. He ordered a cup of coffee instead. About 15 minutes later the waitress came in and told us they were brewing a new pot of coffee. He said forget the coffee, please just bring our checks. When we were handed our checks they were incorrect so had to be redone. She arrived again and they were still incorrect. She left and tried again and when presented a third time, they seemed to be correct. Ours was. Our reservation was for 6:00, we were on time, and we left our table at 9:15. The food was okay. My Caesar Salad with grilled chicken was not good at all. The chicken was like shoe leather and the lettuce was barely green with a very little amount of dressing. The smash burgers were passable and the fries very average. We had to ask for ketchup and salt and pepper and butter for the bread that was served. Some of the other dishes looked and were well enjoyed. This was the second time we, as a group, dined at Aldworth Manor. The first time was quite good and pleasant. This time, not so good at all. Aldworth Manor is located in the woods of Harrisvillle, NH in the Monadnock Region. This historic home is a popular venue for weddings, but on Thursdays and Fridays they open the home to Tavern night where locals can enjoy the building and a meal. Reservations are strongly recommended. There are several rooms throughout the first floor of the home set up for dining, allowing for an intimate experience. We sat in the bar area, we had one of the best drinks I every had. The Spring Clean. I actually ordered two, which I never do. My husband and I shared and order of Parmesan Truffle Fries. For dinner my husband had Chicken Marsala and I had Fish Tacos. We both loved our meal, it was flavorful and fresh tasting. The staff were friendly and prompt. After dinner we walked about the grounds and enjoyed the beautiful view of Mt. Monadnock. Highly recommend this place for date night or if you have a group of friends getting together. Wow!! The manor, grounds and view are lovely! The night started in the tavern with Lawsons Sip of Sunshine and a Bees Knees- excellent. We were excited to sit in the front room with a view of Mount Monadnock to have dinner. The evening took a turn as the food came out. First, the bread was chopped into little cubes and served without plates- interesting. Nothing to write home about. Next out was the side of onion rings. One small, oily, stringy, onion. Greasy, not crunchy, thrown into a basket. However, the real disaster struck when the main courses hit the table. We ordered two burgers medium rare and the other couple had salmon cakes with risotto and fish tacos. We needed to ask if the risotto was on the plate because it didn't look different from the salmon cake. The burgers were blobs of beef with not a hint of pink served on very bland rolls. The only meal that looked edible was the fish tacos. On top of that, all of the plates were lukewarm. It reminded us of going to our grandmother's house in the 1970s and being served mystery meat. We can't remember a meal this bad! Our recommendation: go for the view, sit outside, have a drink and eat anywhere else! read more

Aldworth Manor and it's lodging has been transformed. At the end of the road and looking out over Mount Monadnock this stunning location has been reborn. We just got done shooting a feature film here in October of 2017 and we have had a wonderful time! It held all 34 of our cast and crew and the 170 acres and 17,000sqft Manor was an unbelievable setting for our film. Not to mention the near by town of harrisville. The staff is absolutely wonderful, really couldn't have asked for a better experience. We will shoot here again. read more

We swung out for Tavern night last night before a concert down in Harrisvillie. There's some interesting history about the house and it seemed promising when booked. We decided in the end that Tavern night is tragic. Not bad. Tragic. We had an early reservation (5pm) so we were showing at a pretty empty place. The 'entrance' was unmarked, and eventually as two couples were walking around outside confused the 'parking attendant' called out "you can go in any door!" Which was true, but not true. we ended up walking into the kitchen - it's a door, but it was still a bit uncomfortable. We were seated, after our surprise arrival, at the worst table in the place: a mini two-top in the corner of a room against the wall/closet, not actually big enough to be a table. (You know the one I'm talking about.) That is a table of last resort for walk-ins. Even a last resort for any patron. We asked to move and then moved to a nicer actual table in the first room near the door. Our server was very nice but unable to be a server. The menu is very confusing - what are we trying for here, tavern or Manor? The mains were a cheeseburger, chicken sandwich, gnocchi, and an expensive salmon. Those things don't really align. I had a gnocchi (must have been TJs gnocchi in a bowl of sloppy Joe mix) that was simply awful, the Caesar's, and the firecracker shrimp. Both the salad and shrimp had better reviews, though I might question the shrimp being good. Honestly, and this is tough, but I could have walked in the kitchen and made a better gnocchi dish in 15 minutes, regardless of what was in the kitchen. After we finished eating it took nearly 30 minutes to clear our dishes. We eventually stacked our own dishes as some sort of signal. During this time, at least 15 or 20 servers/workers walked by our table heading to the kitchen with empty hands. Eventually, our server finally showed up again and we were ready....a coffee, a cannoli, and the check. No way we were going to allow them to leave without asking for the check. Come to find out, no cannoli. That is an easy fix since they were clearly out to start the service - let the customers know when you come to take orders. Simple stuff. (Of note, a lot of places contract out pastries and baking and our hope was that this would be the case...) I want to harp on the servers and dining room staff, but I really want to hang nearly all of this on whoever is managing, or not managing, this place. There is clearly no guidance, no goals, no supervisor, no skills, and zero capability in that person. Might as well not have one. And, not having one might be better than whoever they have there now. Terrible. There's actually like a dozen suggestions that would fix this disaster - small stuff that would tighten up the entire operation. Seriously, not worth any sort of trip. read more

Property, facilities and accommodations: I couldn't have asked for a better experience than the one I had while staying at Aldworth Manor. Aesthetically, the property is breathtaking. The historic buildings add so much character to the already stunning surroundings of greenery (and red - I was spoiled and stayed during the foliage of the fall). One might expect a campiness to lodging in the middle of the forrest, but Aldworth provided a beautiful place to stay: private, luxurious, well maintained, clean and cozy. Staying here felt like home with a vacation upgrade. The wifi worked great when I needed to sneak away to work on the computer. My experience was personalized like I was at a mom and pop type shop but still completely professional and private. The owners and staff bent over backwards to accommodate my needs and answer my questions. Changing up the scenery: Harrisville General Store is a local one-stop-shop about a mile from the manor where you can sneak away for morning coffee, grab that toothpaste you forgot to pack, or stop by their made-to-order lunch counter for a sandwich. They also carry gluten-free snack options! Audrey's Cafe is a couple miles further and they consistently had delicious breakfast. I can't think of a reason why anyone would hesitate to book at Aldworth if you're lucky enough to find an opening! read more

Welcoming and sweet hosts who do everything in their power to make you feel at home and comfortable. Aldworth Manor and grounds are the perfect spot - for your wedding, next event, or just a fun get-away from the hustle and bustle of life. The grounds are lovely and well-kept, as well as the lodging. I stayed in the lodge, and it is spacious and pretty and very clean! Just a short drive into a town that could easily be from a movie - Aldworth is perfectly situated to feel like you have "gotten away from it all" while still having easy access to nearby towns and quick drives to larger metro areas. read more

While the beauty an ambiance of this lovely and carefully renovated mansion won't disappoint, unfortunately nearly everything else does. It started with all of us noticing right away that the table was set with paper napkins, inexpensive cutlery, fake flowers and mason jars for water glasses...all incongruous for such an elegant setting and menu price point. Waitress service was ok but the dining rooms were clearly understaffed. Issues with all six meals which was not at all what we were anticipating. Some plates were over-cooked, boring and without seasoning, or served with the incorrect type of pasta. Several entrees weren't available despite our early seating and reservations . Manor co-owner was there but was dressed like the dishwasher in a white undershirt; he did not come to our table to say hello or to ask how our food was. Perhaps they do a fine job as a venue for weddings or other events but overall our expectations were not met and did not meet the degree of care and investment that was clearly poured into such a special building and its grounds. No plans to return soon, sadly. read more

I recently spent a great deal of time at the manor and it was amazing! We were there for an event that required a great deal of support from the staff on the property and we were also staying in the lodging available on site. It was impressive how well everything worked. First of all, the site is breathtaking. Although near both Keene and Petersberg, The grounds were very private and quiet. We wandered about and just saw natural beauty everywhere. If fall colors are your thing, I highly suggest a stay in October. Second the staff were superb! Polite, kind and ready to help with everything! I can honestly say that our event would not have been a success without their support. They are amazing! Third the lodging was great! In Harrisville there really aren't many options when it comes to hotels or inns, and it would be easy for a lesser destination to take advantage of that and cut corners - but I'm very pleased to say that the folks at Aldworth do not! The rooms are very comfortable and feel like home. The amenities exceeded expectation. And the all important WiFi? Fast and reliable. I had to do several video conferences during my stay and they went off without a hitch. I cannot recommend Aldworth Manor enough. It is the perfect place for your event in New Hampshire. read more

This place is a dream! I woke up every morning to see Mount Manadnock out my window of the Headmaster's House and I could see the Manor while having my coffee at the dining table! It's only a 15 minute drive to the base of the Manadnock hiking trail, about a 3 minute drive into Harrisville, and just down the street is the delicious Audrey's diner. Such a wonderful location for our retreat! I'm thinking of renting the whole Lodge for Thanksgiving next year! The staff is incredible and so helpful, truly wonderful people. read more

I recently spent several days at The Manor shooting an independent film and left...not wanting to leave. Ever. Not only are they working on a brilliant restoration of this majestic piece of history (full disclosure, they were only about halfway done with the restoration on the manor itself, but what they have done is gorgeous), but the houses on the grounds where we stayed were comfortable, spacious, and homey. And the surrounding town is exactly what I picture in my head when I think "historic small town New England". Whenever I wasn't working, I found myself wandering the grounds and the surrounding forest in a blissful, zen state. Every corner, every view had magic to offer. Magic is a word that came to mind a lot while I was there. And it was October, so the leaves were still turning, something that in Los Angeles I don't get to see. I can't wait to come back with my family next Fall. If I can wait that long... read more
