Wow I can truly say this place is a hidden gem. Tucked away in a town in Ohio, this farm to table restaurant was incredible. Love the NY vibe to this place, count on a wait over the weekend. Always a diverse selection of beer and a great place for an upscale cocktail. The food is good, with some items being sensational (their calamari and scallops are fantastic!) and some items being less memorable (I haven't yet had an entree item that has blown me away but they're still of quality). Their patio is nice but they are stuck with a terrible view, I might suggest a projector or something to create more atmosphere. This place is great! The old minute bar now ale house 1890 has fine food at fair prices!! Great drinks great spirits, great environment.they have just re opened this week and was short on some of the food but that is acceptable for not knowing how many people would attend. Very great staff. The patio is a great spot to kick back and enjoy a drink by the fire seats around 50 I would say. Their is also a top deck. All In all it is a great spot for a drink or three after work or for your anniversary. Would recommend to anyone to try. read more

What a delightful break from the ordinary... I had the PB&J burger (where the "J" is for jalapeños), which at first I wasn't too sure about, but OMG, why isn't every restaurant that serves burgers doing this?!? For now, this is the place you must go to to get this culinary treat. If you're a fan of peanut-infused Thai food, this burger will speak to your soul. On to the service; it was quite good! I sat at the bar and Taylor was very attentive and knowledgeable about all the food (despite being a vegetarian, LOL). The place is cool, and kept very clean and would be a great place for groups of friends, family or even a date night with your special lady or fella. I can't think of a single reason not to go. I've been here a few times in the past few months and the staff is very friendly, atmosphere is relaxed, food is awesome - so good that I've eaten calamari here and I don't even like calamari (the sweet chili sauce is amazing.) I've also had their steak and pecan crusted chicken. Both delicious - and prices are reasonable! The selection of craft beer is great and I love an establishment where I can ask the bartender to surprise me with a cocktail and end up enjoying it so much that I drink it during my next visit. I recently went to Lancaster to get some food. There's a couple events going on and I stopped at the ale house. The menu wasn't too good that many things you can actually get that work you know you couldn't get everywhere else you know it doesn't really market spot as a top restaurant the food was shabby. The employees were rude Edges seem not to have a caring passion. Even McDonald's worker is actually acting better. Some of the employees even told me they didn't like working there a guy named Tyler and I think another person name Adam one worked kitchen and the other one I think was a server I don't know, but when I sat down ate my food, I come to find out that it tasted like absolute trash. Never thought anyone could ruin french fries but someone actually did that thank you. Do you know if you guys learn what seasoning was made me or flavor you would have gotten a better rating. So if you eat this food fast enough and don't even mind what it taste like you can actually eat it. read more

We couldn't even eat, had to wait an hour then they said it was 15 min till our seating, next I know I've waited 3 hours for it, then they kept rambling about we'll get seating soon we just went to a local Mexican restaurant and got seating in 30 seconds. When told there are no reservations allowed we planned accordingly. Arrived precisely as they opened and put in for our party's table, only to then have the hostess tell us she could not accommodate us due to groups of 6-8 being expected in. I would call those reservations. At that point, we were told we would have a two hour wait. WHAT???? The hostess / management was not at all interested in working with us and shorted their wait staff a very hefty tab and tip (party of 11). Never, in all of my adult life have I experienced such incompetence and blatant disregard for guests in a restaurant. Did I mention we drove 45 minutes to have dinner at this place? Absolutely horrible business practice. Several in our party are "locals" so this experience will most definitely be shared and we will not return. Shameful - isn't this the industry crying poor as we navigate the end of a pandemic? The owners need to revisit the way their staff manages their business or they won't have one. read more

I just enjoyed my second visit to AH for a first date because I knew it would impress. The food, drink selection, atmosphere and wait staff were all exceptional. Ordered the Bruschetta (again) and the Ahi which was slightly overcooked but had a delicious glaze and was served on top of risotto. Been here three times. First time the Calamari was over cooked and tough as rubber bands. Second time I had the rib-eye and it was fantastic. The third time my family all had great meals. I hope they get more consistent because Lancaster needs more places like this. Nothing worse than an inconsistent restaurant. They are getting 3 stars only because of inconsistencies. They would be higher if not for that. I suggested this place to some friends and they stood at the hostess stand for 10 minutes while 2 female employees looked at them and continued to chat with each other and ignore my friends so they finally walked out. We were in the area and was checking out where there was a good place to eat. Ale House 1890 came up, and so after checking reviews we decided to go there. The service was excellent and our server was quite helpful in helping us pick one of their draft beers on tap, letting us sample a few to decide. I had the amazing tomato bisque that I had read so much about and it was everything described!!! Our wedge salads were also great with the home made blue cheese dressing! My husband and I are seasoned diners and so when we get an exceptional waiter we are thoroughly impressed. He knew exactly what we needed and could not have been more professional with some charm on the side! First let me say that our entrees were great... We were 14 for lunch and our waiter Mac and the kitchen staff served us effortlessly... I am certain behind the scenes they were hustling but they never let on... Additional servers assisted us as well and each were accommodating and courteous in their own way. The appetizers were great... Burgers terrific especially the PB&J Burger... Sandwiches outstanding especially the Main Street Triple Decker Grilled Cheese and the Pig and Fig Pizza was tasty! The chef certainly commands a smooth menu and kitchen. This is a great restaurant for down town Lancaster. It has lots of different beer selections and the bar is absolutely beautiful. The staff is great and I love the menu. I personally like "The Street" it's a club sandwich with an egg on it and the sweet potato fries are amazing. The price is ok it's a little expensive but the atmosphere is great and during the summer the back patio is just awesome. I love the pretzel appetizers are good too with the mustard. The owner of the restaurant takes pride in his staff and establishment. He is there all of the time and really cares. Another winner! Went here for dinner on a recommendation from a local and it was amazing! I had the grilled pork chop and it was cooked perfectly with loads of flavor. Great menu and prices aren't too bad. My one ding is on the accessibility. The overall accessibility of the restaurant is good. They even have a ramp from the bar to the main dining floor. There is an accessible stall in the bathroom unfortunately to get to the bathrooms you have to step up one step. read more

We happened upon Ale House 1890 while on a long road trip. Atmosphere is really great - lively yet cozy. Staff is amazing - they went out of their way to accommodate us and our hungry, cranky two year old. The pretzel bites are amazing. I had the grilled caesar salad and my husband had a burger - both delicious. Our son quickly devoured a pasta marinara and green beans that looked amazing. As the name suggests, the beer menu is on point. Lots of delicious craft brews. Excellent for a date night. As we left my husband said 'if we lived here this would be our favorite place to hang out and have a bite.' read more
