So you know how to find it! Bloomington Friends who love ice cream? The best ice cream I have ever had anywhere is right here!
    Julia Cameron D.

We stopped in because we were charmed by the pretty store front away from busy streets. Best Ice Cream I have ever had any where and I've enjoyed gourmet ice cream all of my life but none can compare to the sheer deliciousness of Ale's! The shop is spotless clean and fragrant with the amazing scents of all the tantalizing flavors! I find it hard to adequately articulate just how delicious and unique the treats are here. Ale is catering to an international palette with authentic recipes from many other countries. I didn't know ice cream could be this amazing and I'm a Culinary Teacher:) Ale's sets the standard so high it would be hard to go anywhere else hence forth. I want all my loved ones to have this euphoric and exquisite confection experience. Tell her Cam sent you!

Just went here for first time & it's my new favorite Bloomington ice cream shop. Charming little place, the owner was really nice & the ice cream was delicious: we had Horchata & Guayaba. Good for a visit after a movie at AMC.

This wonderful place is run by an amazing husband and wife duo. The husband was super friendly with amazing fast service. The food is so cheap and yet so good. Ranging from homemade ice cream to Mexican sodas. My boyfriend and I got ramen elote, which is ramen in a. Cup with some cheese looking stuff elote seasoning and some other things I'm not quite sure of. We also got frescos con crema or strawberries with crème and amazing Spanish dessert. We also got a condensed milk cake or tres leches I believe. The ambience is also amazing as the decor and vibe was so fun and cute.

It is really good thick and creamy almost too thick to drink , but that's OK. This was excellent and very fast, the dining room is clean and well kept. If you have a genuine concern, it's worth it to offer direct feedback so they can make it better. When I did my check in as I waited in the drive through lane, I was very surprised to see how low Freddy's is currently ranked. I think it may be telling that the negative reviews have an acknowledgment from a manager with a link to click, but from what I can see, past issues still remain. After grabbing some boba with the kid, I thought it would be nice to hit Freddy's. I've been to BK regularly, and even McDonald's a few times, but not Freddy's, even though I was so happy after my first few meals. It's been a while! Tonight I kept is simple. A couple of double cheeseburgers with ketchup only, and some fries. In terms of flavor, easily 5 stars. Everything was delicious. BUT..... Cross contamination. That's a no-no. Why were there bits of lettuce on the outside of my burger? I didn't order mine with lettuce. The wait. There were a few cars at the windows, and when I drove up I was behind a pickup who ordered a minute or two after I drove up. Based on what I saw at the window, he didn't really order that much either. After we had both ordered, we waited... and waited... If I wanted that kind of a wait with just a few cars in line I'd go to Hardee's! I know Freddy's does fresh burgers, and there is actual cooking done, so it takes a bit longer, but this seemed to be a bit much. The other issue I had was the lack of fry sauce. Freddy's is known for their fry sauce and I was looking forward to that! There were napkins, fries, and burgers in the bag, but no fry sauce. Sad. Fortunately the fries were good on their own and they stayed warm for the drive home, which was just a few minutes away. So twenty bucks for 2 double burgers and large fries. I don't mind paying for quality, but service needs to go with it. Keep the work space clean, don't cross contaminate, and then it's worth it. I hope to be back sometime. The burgers really are good. It's a shame the bar seems to have been lowered on service and employees.

The vegan flavours are somewhat less interesting than the some of the dairy flavours, but still offers some variety: they always carry vegan vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and grasshopper. You can also get any of the vegan flavours in your sundae/blizz/whatever, so this is actually a very good place if you can't or don't want to have dairy. Having tried all of the vegan flavours, I thought the chocolate was actually too cloyingly rich and sweet, but I really liked the others. The vegan ice cream is oat-based, which I prefer over the more common coconut. They also have a rotating selection of soup (with a few meat and a few vegetarian or vegan options available at any given time) in what I assume is a bid to stay relevant during the winter. The ice cream is still the main attraction for me at any time of year but the soup is worth getting if you want to make a meal of it, and it's nice to have something healthy to balance out the ice cream. I have tried the cream of asparagus and carrot ginger. The carrot ginger had shredded carrot in it instead of being a totally smooth puree, which I actually really liked. There is also some summery Americana food like hot dogs and mac and cheese, but I haven't tried any of that so I can't comment. The place has lots of seating inside and outside. It seems like they generally get very busy in the evenings but it's usually quieter during the day. The staff have been friendly in my experience. When I ordered a soup and sundae together, they offered to make the sundae and keep it in the fridge for me until I was ready to eat it, which was nice and thoughtful.

After arriving i got my food out and saw there was a huge mosquito bug literally pressed onto a couple of my fries. I mean i can see the legs head and fuzzy body with the proboscis. A big one at that. I feel sick to my stomach and obviously don't trust that the rest of the food hasn't been touched. I called to see if i could possibly get a refund because i don't really want to get more food from somewhere that already served me mosquito french fries. I spoke to the manager and told them the situation. The manager did not offer to remake my food and told me a refund was not possible and he could send me a couple coupons to my address. I told him i felt this was inadequate and i have worked in multiple different food establishments and this has never been the way something was handled. the manager then said he discussed with the higher up manager and they said it would only be possible to refund the two fries because the rest of the food was up to par. How can you possibly tell me the same food in the same bag with the bug hasn't been contaminated. In this economy i feel as these people are literally playing with people's money and time. I spent 32.04$ for 2 meals that i can't even eat it let alone enjoy the meal. I ALREADY ATE A FRY WITHOUT KNOWING THERE WAS A WHOLE MOSQUITO IN NY FRIES. I am so disappointed and irritated by the service provided from this restaurant and really want my full refund.

Appetizer came out quickly and entrees came out when the appetizer was 3/4 gone. Perfect timing. The edamame appetizer was hot and had plenty of salt, which is exactly how I like it (9.5/10)! I had the crispy chicken with pineapple (served in half of a pineapple) and spouse had the orange chicken. He said his was good (8/10), but I loved the pineapple chicken (9.8/10). He had no leftovers, I left with about half of my entree. We took a mango sticky rice to go and then drove around town for about 45 minutes before going back to the hotel to eat it (for context - I'm sure it's even better eaten in the restaurant). Even with it sitting at room temperature in a styrofoam container for about an hour after preparation, it's still a 9.9/10 for me. The mango sticky rice was a perfect ending to an excellent meal. When in Bloomington again, we will definitely be back. We may visit again before leaving town - it's that good.

My Thai on the westside of Bloomington is not merely a restaurant…read more It is an institution. A temple. A weekly ritual site. A blessed carbohydrate-and-curry sanctuary where my family has been eating once a week for ten years, which in restaurant loyalty years is basically a dynastic blood oath. I have eaten here through different seasons of life, different levels of exhaustion, different versions of myself, and probably several minor existential collapses. And through it all, My Thai has remained the most consistent restaurant I have ever eaten at. Not "pretty consistent." Not "usually good." I mean shockingly, mathematically, almost suspiciously consistent. Like somewhere in the back there is a monk, a wizard, and a very serious Thai grandmother operating a flavor reactor calibrated by NASA. My go-to is the Pad Prik King with chicken, because I am a simple man with a complicated nervous system and a deep spiritual need for spicy green beans. The green beans come in hot and crunchy like they are ready to fight for their honor. The sauce is rich, spicy, savory, and just the right amount of "hello, your face is awake now." The chicken is there doing noble chicken work. Bawk bawk, little warrior. Bawk bawk. This dish does not ask for attention. It seizes it. It kicks open the door wearing sunglasses, throws a handful of basil into the air, and says, "Get in, we're going to flavor town, but the weird respectable Bloomington version." And the best part? It is always good. Always. For ten years. Do you understand how rare that is? I have seen empires rise and fall faster than the quality control at My Thai. The service is friendly, the food is dependable, and the whole place has the comforting energy of, "Yes, the world is strange and unstable, but your Pad Prik King will still arrive correctly." That matters. Five stars. Ten years of loyal service. My Thai westside is one of Bloomington's great constants, and my spicy green bean chicken kingdom remains undefeated. BIG BADA BOOM!

The hard ice cream is all homemade. I've mostly gotten the cyclones and sundaes with soft serve, but the scoops in my banana split were good. In addition to regular soft serve, they also have Dream DeLite, which is a low glycemic index (diabetic-friendly) yogurt/whey-based soft serve. I like to get this since even the small sizes are pretty big, and the DD feels like a lighter option. By itself, I find the flavor is slightly off from regular vanilla ice cream, but the texture is good, and when it's mixed with different flavors and toppings, I can't really tell the difference. Almost all of the specialty sundaes and cyclones I've tried have hit the spot. My favourites have been the classic banana split sundae, and the mud pie and German chocolate cyclones. The only thing I did not like was the mint Oreo cyclone - the mint flavor was too concentrated and kind of tasted like mint toothpaste (I usually like mint ice cream). The cyclones sometimes aren't blended all the way to the bottom of the cup, but this isn't a big deal. The employees seem to be high school/university students. They're usually friendly and have their operations organized. There are a few other Jiffy Treets locally that I haven't visited, but based on what the other ones put online, this one doesn't have some of the seasonal ice cream flavors or vegan soft serve that some of the other locations advertise.
