A couple of poke bowls after a long days work, with their signature sweet potato fries. The protein bowl was... sort of dry. Roasted carrots were in it that had only been mildly tanned. Flavors were OK. Ingredients were missing that are normal for this bowl. We eagerly awaited the fries, which are made to order, and might be the best in Bloomington. That's if, as they'd promised, they would be delivered to our outside table. I had to chase them; they weren't quite hot, but good enough. There is lots of solid competition for bowls in Bloomington; these were average and the service weak. The flavors were OK, but the food was sort of dry. Perhaps if the server hadn't had trouble hearing over the constant sound of the smoothie machine blasting away, something different might happen, also the reason we sat outside in the first place. This is my second time getting Feta and it's absolutely amazing. I love how much space they have so you can study and eat a meal or grab something to drink. My husband and I were in town on a little weekend trip and I wanted something a bit more fresh and healthy for dinner. We found Feta Kitchen and Café on Yelp and decided to stop in. Sadly, they were out of one of the items we were hoping to try (feta grilled cheese), but we got there layered Mediterranean dip and it was absolutely delicious. Really great value and amount of food for $10. It might seem like a lot to pay $10 for pita chips and dip, but the bowl was packed and we were able to eat from it twice. Just a warning, the sauce on top is spicy. You might want to get it on the side. If I lived close, I could see myself being a frequent visitor of Feta Kitchen. They have a pretty huge menu and offered delicious sounding smoothies. Oh, and it's absolutely adorable inside. So aesthetic. read more

Think Mediterranean Chipotle (but much better). Locally owned, fresh food, friendly employees and close for Southsiders (not a lot of options over here!). We LOVE Feta and it is on a regular rotation at our house. It is all about the spreads for me. They are all fantastic, but the Skhug, Amba, and Whipped Feta combined on any bowl are LIFE. I usually go with a "make your own" greens and grains bowl and load up all the pickled vegetable goodness. My other favorites are the Gyro Crunch (YUM) and that Mezze Plate. I wish you could just order the Crispy Eggplant because it is so good. My husband likes the Honey Sriacha Chicken Bites - they are sauce heavy and a pretty large order. Generally, we are getting orders to go. The space is open and clean with a little kids corner. Nice environment, especially for fast casual. read more

Solid option for Middle Eastern (probably Israeli?) food, about as fresh as things get for food that's essentially pre-made. Highlights were the freshness of the cucumber/tomato salad and the punch of the zhug (Yemeni green hot sauce). Pickles and tabouleh were perfectly fine, still crunchy and such. Been going to feta for a couple of years and usually it's super easy and has good food. This review comes down to entirely about the service. I went in and ordered lunch and thought a side of feta fries would be good with some toppings. We pay including a 15% tip on a to go order which is already stupid. We wait a little while and our food comes out. They waited until now to tell me that they didn't have feta cheese or whatever so they just made me regular fries and put ketchup in the bag. They made it seem like this was nothing. I'm honestly a little pissed off about this and maybe I'm overreacting but charging me for something you don't have available is unacceptable to me. I would appreciate someone giving me my $7 back for regular French fries that I did not really want. Also don't really think they deserve the tip now but that's beside the point. Someone should really figure this out. Really disappointed and won't be back unless they do something to remedy this. Update: the food actually wasn't as good as previous experiences. I thought the inside of Feta was cute! It was a little confusing to see where the line was for the kitchen versus the cafe but thankfully some visuals and seeing people helped lol. You can make your own dish but my boyfriend and I ordered off the menu. I wish I got a picture of the fries but they were amazing!! Some of my friends rave about Feta, so I finally took myself on a solo date. I love the area that it's in, super peaceful and kind of quaint. The inside interior is very clean, bright, and open. I chose to build my owen bowl with quinoa, pork, cucumber, feta (how can you not), and tziki (?) sauce. It was super filling but didn't leave me feeling like trash afterwards. The kind of meal you feel good about. Perfect for post-workout. I even had leftovers! The pricing was about equal or a little more than you would pay for Chipotle. Great options but underwhelming flavor on the baba ghanouj - lacked the traditional smokiness and wonderful eggplant texture! The falafel was dry and grainy, lacked moisture - which means overcooked and faulty batter. We got the mezze plate and it was wonderful! Enjoyed the mixes of whipped feta with skhug. read more

A Bloomington hidden gem on the south side of town, probably the BEST post workout meal you can get in the area. Super interesting menu with Mediterranean style bowls, smoothies, and shakes. Never tried the drinks so I'll speak on the bowls. The create your own style is very similar to a cava or chipotle but the ingredients here are super unique! I'm A big fan of the Israeli salad, and pickled red onion for veggies and Amba and skhug for spreads. It's reasonably priced for a generous amount of food and is super healthy! Only downside is the protein is a tad underwhelming- falafel is bad, grilled chicken is eh and the gyro meat is the best here but still not gonna blow you away. My friend and I walked to feta today because the weather was beautiful. We each order the gyro flatbread sandwich. The menu seemed a bit pricey, but the portion size was huge ! The dining area is often dirty and poorly maintained despite having a 3-4 person staff. The past 3 times I've come in we're around 2-3 pm and my family and I left due to extremely slow service and unsanitary conditions (tables were not bussed, food was on the floor, trash cans were overfilling massively). Pretty disappointing considering the concept, location, and interior are all fantastic. It's not unusual to see front of house staff on their phones, chatting with each other, or staring off into space while customers wait in line. It also seems like back of house and front of house struggle with communication as fried/grilled items come out incorrect or missing requested ingredients pretty frequently. read more

I love the idea of Feta, and there are many tasty things on their menu. The grilled chicken, gyro meat, hummus, tzatziki are all very good for the price point. But the devil is in the details, and in this case it is the falafels and olives. To have a Mediterranean/middle eastern concept with such cold, flavorless, mealy falafel's is a bit of a shame. And to serve the kind of black olives you get on a Papa John's pizza is definitely disappointing. I will still continue supporting the establishment because, at the end of the day, the pros outweigh the cons. But now that these bowls are creeping upwards of $18 after tips and inflation, I feel like bringing this up for value's sake. Also, if they stayed open until 9, they probably would get more dinner business. read more

What are delicious and surprising experience. We were looking for something healthy and casual in Bloomington on our way back north from French lick to Indianapolis and Feta popped up in my search results for "falafel" on yelp. This business is only six months old and local and offers both dining and coffee shop options along with an assortment of bakery items like wedding cake cookies and raw vegan bars. I ordered the build your own grains and greens bowl with tabouli, spinach, and an assortment of pickled veggies and sauces. The topped falafel was both filling and moist. I was impressed that this nutritious meal was only nine dollars and very plentiful. I also loved the variety of seating options and handy kid-friendly play area. Ugh I'm so disappointed. I should've known that a smoothie café couldn't possibly do Middle Eastern/Mediterranean cuisine well. Tried Feta for the first time and it was fantastic! This place is Chipotle-style and allows you to build your own bowls. With several different base options and a plethora of fresh, flavorful ingredients on top, you're sure to find something you like and feel like you're doing a body a favor for eating it. Not only that, but it was super filling. Definitely a place that could accommodate to various dietary restrictions. For fans of "build your own" style food options, this place offers a Mediterranean option to your circuit. They also have juices, smoothies, and even ice cream options too! The shop is located on a corner to the south of downtown. The free parking is "angle in" so you have to be north bound or east bound to pull in, so plan ahead to avoid turning around. Inside, there is the Kitchen to the left and Cafe to the right, but honestly, I couldn't see any difference. You can sit wherever there is space. To the far end of the order counter is where you will start your building a meal experience. You start with your base (I chose flatbread which is like a thick pancake), then protein. The woman who was doing the actual building made a few suggestions based upon my ordering which I found helpful. I then added dips & spreads (up to 3) and toppings (whatever you want) and finally, sauces for the top. The portion was huge so the value was very reasonable for the price. I went over to the cafe area because there were more small tables than the communal tables in the kitchen area. Note that there is a children's play area in the cafe section, so if kids playing isn't your thing, stay on the other side. And the food was quite tasty! Very fresh and lots of flavor. Basically, the amount you enjoy your food is very dependent upon your choices. So, don't be afraid to ask for assistance on pairing items. The only thing I didn't care for was that the flatbread was soft and spongy, not crisped like flatbreads I've had elsewhere. The curved serving bowl made it difficult to cut through the flatbread to enjoy while eating (I had piled the meal too high to lift it out and eat by using my hands.) Disgusting...shameful. Careless restaurant, sloppy staff, negligent food preparation. I bit into an olive pit and handled the HORROR so kindly. I immediately notified the manager and demanded he take away the 6" pan of olives on the cold line. The manager on duty was incoherent and stoned (in my opinion). Because of the cracked/chipped tooth I need a crown. I filed a formal complaint with the manager and am still waiting (4+ months). The Owners and MGMT team have yet to respond to letterhead via USPS mail, phone calls, staff messages or electronic communications. I have no idea where they stand, and assume they just don't care. Do not bring your children here. All I wanted was someone to be accountable, someone to care, someone to say SORRY! Food prep is so simple. Your restaurant is often slow, why cut corners?! I'm into this joint. Food is fresh, location is right around the corner from my house and offers me a wonderful, healthy, veggie heavy option on the south side, which is scarce. I actually ate there for a late lunch today, and I'm glad they are open for a few more hours, because I may go there for dinner as well. Out the door, a "bowl" with lentils as my protein, +$1 for adding delicious roasted broccoli, a cup of water to drink and a tip in the jar cost $10. I suggest asking the fine folks who are making the food for suggestions...after all, when everything is made from scratch, the people making it are deeply familiar with it all. I went with a quinoa base, lentil and broccoli, pickled onion, whipped feta, and blah blah blah other awesome stuff, and literally felt better after eating.
