Alberto knew exactly what we were looking for and thoroughly explained the superior security, design and construction of the doors he recommended. He carefully measured and took notes and answered all of our questions and concerns. He thoroughly went over the various color and hardware options and was courteous, respectful and efficient throughout the entire process. Alberto provided us with pricing information, which we found to be reasonable and fair. We placed the order and a few weeks later had an appointment for installation of our new doors. As with our initial appointment, Alberto showed up on time for the installation and promptly got to work installing our new doors. He made sure we knew exactly how the triple lock system worked and went over everything a few times to ensure that we were comfortable with it. The installation process went smoothly and when he was finished Alberto carefully cleaned up the entire work area, again inquiring if we had any questions or concerns. We are extremely pleased with our new security screen doors. They are exactly what we were looking for and the entire process went quickly and seamlessly from start to finish. The guy doesn't return calls, doesn't follow up. His word is crap. He installed motors in our shades (that took forever) and when one of the motors burned out after less than a year, came and picked the motor up with a promise to get it replaced by the manufacturer. That was December and the last we heard from him despite numerous follow ups from our end. No excuses. Just a lousy way of doing business.

The guys who came to install them showed up promptly, did an excellent job and were very friendly; and did the whole house with downstairs shutters in just under 2 1/2hrs. Could not have had a better experience.

Find someone or a company that cares about their customers even after the fact that they received payment.

Unfortunately we had an awful experience with Jaki and cannot recommend her work at all. There were…read morered flags from the beginning but we wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. Please don't make our mistake. Ultimately, Jaki did not understand our vision and kept pushing her design preferences on us. We had to fully create our own PowerPoint deck with reference photos to get our ideas across room by room; source our own tile (when she claimed the design we wanted didn't exist in the tile we wanted); ordered the wrong quantity of products; among many other issues. Additionally when we chose not to use her preferred contractor, she became even more difficult to work with. She claimed she didn't know how to use IKEA's closet building tool to help us build our master closet, was always running late to our meetings; nor did she know how to use Gmail to schedule said meetings. Due to COVID and vendor supply issues our renovation took much longer than anyone expected. But the most egregious and unprofessional behavior was when she quit the job BEFORE any of the fixtures she ordered were even installed. She literally took our money and ran. We were still in the middle of our renovation and had been project managing the majority of the work ourselves. To reiterate-- we paid Jaki in full for her services but she would not even honor returns or exchanges for products that we DID NOT install (because they didn't end up working in our space and were misrepresented in the renderings). In the end, we had to go directly to the vendor ourselves, who graciously honored the exchange given that we had such a terrible time trying to get that through Jaki. The whole experience has been extremely disappointing and we would not recommend her services.

Before approving the order, I asked for several basic details in writing, including the payment schedule, estimated production time, anticipated installation window, Pacific Shutters & Shades' workmanship warranty, and the Hunter Douglas manufacturer's warranty. I was told their payment terms required a 70% deposit, with the remaining balance due at installation. On a $10,000 proposal, that would have meant approximately $7,000 paid upfront. I asked whether they would consider reducing the deposit to 50%, with the remaining 50% due upon installation and completion, and whether they would waive the 3% credit card processing fee. I also specifically asked for Pacific Shutters & Shades' own workmanship/installation warranty because the information I had received only addressed the Hunter Douglas manufacturer's warranty. Rather than providing the requested workmanship warranty or continuing to discuss the payment terms, the company responded that they felt the project was not the right fit for their company and suggested that I use another provider. I was disappointed because I was prepared to move forward with the purchase. For a $10,000 custom window-covering project, I don't think it is unreasonable for a customer to want the payment terms, installation expectations, and workmanship warranty clearly documented before paying a substantial deposit. Based on my experience, I would recommend getting all warranty and payment terms in writing before placing an order.

Understanding this, my wife and I needed some new window coverings for our living room, dining room and a guest bedroom. We researched until we found five companies that had a large number of high reviews, above 4.8 on a scale of 5. We found all the sales people to be pleasant and their offerings varied, but one stood out above the rest, and that was Window Spaces. A small, local company, Katie, the owner, came for the estimate. After measurements, and spending time understanding what we wanted, she provided several options, with various price points. She was patient, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and seemed focus on matching our wishes with our needs. We indicated we wanted quality products. She gave us a bid that included Hunter Douglas products, a Roman blind for the guest room and draperies from the Hunter Douglas owned drape manufacturer. Of the five bids we received, Katie's bid was both the lowest and had the highest quality products. In fact, we had a bid from a company that deals solely with Hunter Douglas and when I called to let him know we would be going with another company that also offered Hunter Douglas. He asked if I could share the bid. I said it was a couple of thousand less than his bid. He seemed surprised and doubtful, but I assured him the bid was very explicit and Window Spaces listed the specific products, fabrics and manufacturers. Katie told us specifically the time frame for manufacturing, shipping and installation. She sent us confirmation of the orders to the manufacturers and their promised shipment date. Her customer skills are outstanding. She kept us informed and let us know when a part of the order arrived and offered to have it installed sooner than the promised date if we wished. On the day of installation, Hunter arrived first to install the blinds and was followed by Katie. Katie came in and she and Hunter installed the drapery sheers. Then she steamed them making sure they hung just right and picture perfect. There is something reassuring about dealing with a small business owner who obviously enjoys and is committed to the quality of her craftsmanship and serving her customers. For Katie, you are not only a customer, but you are part of the community she lives in, you are a neighbor. When the job was done, we felt we had found a truly exceptional company to handle our future needs, plus we had made a new friend.
