That dreaded 'Stop' before I could pay my annual car registration online forced me to scramble for…read morea certified smog check station and this one, at the intersection of Chicago and 3rd wasn't too far from home. Be forewarned, the basic fee has taxes and stuff that walked it up to $77 out the door, which was disclosed up front, so kudos there. I also made a reservation online but the guy took me early when I arrived, and in about 15 minutes he announced my car passed and provided the paperwork and scanned myDMV form. It's imperative that you bring that to your session. Nice guy, very friendly and professional. They offer a $32 service for expediting payment for the registration same day, but if you have a computer at home, you won't need that. All-in-all, a quick appointment, and unavoidable, but I would definitely come back if or when (probably next year). Pro tip: Fill up your tank and use a fuel injector cleaner from Autozone or O'Reilly's. Most importantly though, if your check engine light is on, you won't pass.
