I began looking for a video tutor before starting a feature length documentary for commercial release. I was surprised how difficult that actually was. I wanted a one-on-one crash course, not a school or seminar. I also needed it to be straightforward and quick, as I already am computer literate and do audio editing professionally. I will admit that I was terrified when I first opened Adobe Premiere. I had a specific need and wasn't sure how to navigate toward that. The manual was hard to digest and there were too many options. I needed a straight path. Luckily, I found Alex, he is promo-savvy and made himself easy to find. Later, I found that he consults on social media marketing, in addition to offering the exact kind of lessons I was looking for. In four two-hour sessions, he taught me the basics of file management, editing, transitions, and exporting. He also peppered these lessons with a great deal of real-life examples on "how to think" like an editor. And gave me quite a bit of bonus information on storytelling which fired my creative imagination. I am no longer intimidated by the medium or the message. I still have a lot of work ahead of me. I will have to turn what I've learned into habits and systems. But I do feel like I learned the basics as thoroughly as I needed to, in order to move forward. I can't imagine anyone (even at Adobe) knowing more about Premiere Pro than Alex knows. Alex also knows quite a bit about film production, and he teaches common practices in that business as well, for example: how to organizes one's project in the standard way so that another video editor can get in there and take over. He can recommend publications on film production. He also knows his hardware. I first met Alex ca. 2014 to learn to use the cheap version Premiere before moving up to Pro. (I do not recommend this path because they are really different products with little in common.) Alex is articulate and affable, and can accommodate every electronic payment system that I know of. read more

Great instructor, very patient and a clear communicator!

I recently completed 8 hours of Zoom tutorials with Alex as an introduction to Adobe Premiere Pro. It was a perfect experience and exceeded my goals and expectations. I found Alex online while looking for someone to help me edit old family videos that I had had digitalized a few years ago. I wasn't looking to do anything too fancy--just wanted to delete footage (20 minutes worth) of a wall my husband accidentally filmed and perform similar basic tasks. I concluded it would take too long and be too expensive to hire someone to do the editing and opted instead to learn a new skill. I am 69 years old with no prior video editing experience (and very little photo editing experience). Alex was kind and patient throughout and his explanations were always at a level I could understand. For me, the most valuable part was recording the four 2-hour lessons so I could review them as needed--and I have, many times. I know I have barely scratched the surface of what Premiere Pro can do but I was able to put together a lovely 30 minute video of my daughter's first three Thanksgivings, complete with titles and music, which I "premiered" for my family at Thanksgiving dinner last week!
