The woman in the front office, Kaelinn, is very kind and polite. However, everything else at this office is a mess. The dentist was pretty dismissive of my concerns at the initial consult for my wisdom teeth removal; I wrote this off as being due to my own nervousness about the procedure. Then, Limchaseng prescribed me medication that I was allergic to, and it took two weeks of (mostly unreturned) phone calls for me to get that straightened out. He claimed that I probably wasn't really allergic, and that it would be fine: I had to insist to get a different medication prescribed. The bigger issue, though, had to do with extremely shady financial dealings. The first thing I had asked was whether they accepted my insurance; I was assured over and over again that they did. Then, when I came in to pay the deposit, they did a complete bait and switch. They waited until I had paid $600 deposit, and then demanded an additional $3,000 dollars seconds later, and said they would not perform the surgery unless I paid it, claiming that my insurance was unreliable. When I questioned the change, Limchaseng came out and was extremely unprofessional, asking me why I thought it was okay to not pay him and why I thought it was acceptable for him to not pay his staff a living wage(?). This all happened 5 days before my scheduled surgery: I had already taken time off from work, as had my partner, and I really needed to have the procedure done on the scheduled date. Luckily, Novato Oral Surgery had an opening on that date - they were kind, compassionate, and professional, and took excellent care of me. My insurance came through with no problem, and the total out of pocket cost was 1/3 what Limchaseng had initially charged for a "deposit." Also, Limchaseng exclusively hires young women, and calls everyone who works in his office as "his girls." These women seem to be good at their jobs, but the way he refers to them is very odd and off-putting: adult women are not children. Strongly recommend everyone pay attention to all the negative reviews here and find a different oral surgeon! read more

My dentist referred me to Dr. Louie for a tooth extraction. I am a senior citizen, and have had extensive dental work throughout my life. My experience with Dr. Louie was one of the easiest and quickest procedures I have ever had! Dr. Louie was professional, courteous, and clearly expert at what he does. I had an infected failed root canal and one oral surgeon gave me a date to pull the tooth out 2 months. My friend recommended Dr. Louie (as everyone calls him) and they got me in within a few days. I was quite nervous as I was in pain and the infection had been going on for weeks. Well, everyone! in the office was kind, gentle and professional. There was sense of lightness without being dismissive and he had my tooth out so fast I didn't even know what had happenned! He's a pro! I felt welcome from the minute I walked in. Very flaky! I went to him 3 times preparing for an implant. On the day he was to insert the implant he started telling me about other possible issues that needed repair. Which they didn't. I spent $1700 but never received my implant. He running a scam, which is common with Dental Surgeons. Their pissed because they flunked out of Med School. Wonderful doctor and office - everyone is kind and helpful, and they work well as a team. My situation was confusing (2 CT scans and 3 doctors weighing in), and Dr. Louie worked carefully with me to make sure we were doing the right thing. This extraction was the easiest procedure I've had all year (compared to 6 hours of root canal & crown on the tooth next to the one we removed). Dr. Louie is perfect for osteoporosis patients as he studies the latest research on bisphosphonates and extractions. I am very glad Dentistry by Design referred me to him! TLDR; Do not come here if you have anxiety about dentistry, surgery and/or Coronavirus. I was referred to Dr Limchayseng by my dentist for my wisdom teeth extraction. I was finally ready to deal with it. I have very high anxiety about dentists in general, but also about surgery and with the current situation now, Covid-19. He assured me that Dr Limchayseng is very good and he will do a great job while also making the whole thing quick. I trusted him. I made the appointment for a consultation in the Novato office. Upon walking in, the first thing I noticed was no safety glass, and the receptionist with a mask hanging from one ear. Another one behind her with no mask at all. I didn't see anyone sanitizing anything. They didn't tell me I was required to wear a mask or ask me to use the hand sanitizer. They did take my temp. So, that was something. I was given a clipboard with forms to fill out. When I scheduled the appt over the phone I requested to fill the forms online to minimize contact and time spent there. However, that was not an option. The receptionist, after handing me the forms and clipboard was like "where's my pen" and I just took one that was randomly on the counter. I didn't see it being sanitized so I can only assume it wasn't. I filled out everything and took it back. One of the forms was a waiver saying I wouldn't sue them if I caught Covid there because I have a higher chance of getting it in the operating room without a mask on. I'm wondering where would it come from if they are cleaning everything and making sure the employees don't have it? That made me feel more anxious. I thought it was just my anxiety getting the best of me. I was already dreading the whole thing. I hand my clipboard back to the receptionist, she grabs it and puts it on the counter. Never sanitized her hands or clipboard after I touched it. The assistant comes in, grabs it, also doesn't sanitize it or her hands. So now it has switched hands 3 times with zero precautions. She takes me back to the room. On the way I see another person with no mask in the back walking by the room. The assistant did have a mask on at least. She says "we're just going to take your blood pressure" and I said "Let's not". I knew it would be sky high and I feel worse than when I walked in. At my regular dentist, they sanitize EVERYTHING before I even walk up from the door. I watched them clean the counter tops, pens, hands, everyone properly wearing masks, and protective glass. Maybe they set the bar unreasonably high. Either way, this made me feel more at ease than when I first got there. The situation at Dr. Limchayseng's was complete opposite. I told the assistant I can't go through with this. I feel unsafe. She proceeds to tell me that they are following all the recommendations. They are not required to wear masks with each other, only patients (except I was a patient and both receptionists wear not properly wearing them), and that she feels safer here than she does at home. Which makes me wonder, if she feels unsafe at home how can she guarantee she is not bringing something to work and exposing all the employees to it? I explained the situation with the clipboard exchanging hands, random pens, no masks on multiple people and no sanitizing of any kind going on. And I left. I could not get out fast enough. Being someone that suffers from anxiety, I hoped that going there would make me feel better about the situation and less anxious. That is not what happened. I told my dentist about this. He will not be referring anyone there for the foreseeable future and made me a new recommendation for a MUCH better, safer, cleaner place. read more

I did receive a follow-up email from the doctor on January 2nd, wherein he claims they have policies in place that should have prevented this from happening. Frankly, I call BS on that. I could see if a) I was the only person who has had this happen to them, but clearly I am not and b) if it had happened to me once, I might believe him, but it happened to me twice. "I have a policy that is in place not allow patient wait times to be more than 5 to 10 minutes. It did not help today that I had two staff members that called in sick this morning and are out with the flu. That handicap of course did not help your experience this morning. I am very sorry that this had happened to you. " Even if there are policies in place to prevent these kinds of non-communicated waits to patients, they're not being followed, so who really cares if there is a policy. read more

DR. Louie and his staff took on an almost impossible task of placing an implant for a tooth that bone and gum had disintegrated. Because of Dr. Louie's professionalism, knowledge, and persistence, he was able to create perfection. I must also mention, Dr. Louie's excellent bed side manner. His staff is also the most friendly, professional people. If I had more thumbs, they would be up. I would recommend Doctor Limchayseng in a heart beat! read more

I've just had an extraction done by Dr. Louie and I can't begin to say how great the experience was. I've had many extractions in my years and this was the best in terms of comfort and no residual pain. The staff in the office is wonderful, friendly and very professional. COVID protocols are followed perfectly and I really appreciated that. Dr. Louie is friendly and very easy to talk to. My wife went here to get her wisdom teeth removed. She has a small mouth and the wisdom teeth included some sideways impacted ones, making it especially tricky. For his part the surgeon did fine. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for his staff. They treated us with little respect and seemed more concerned about office gossip than their paying customers. Besides the general attitude two incidents stand out to me. One of the women at the front told my wife all of her ear piercings would have to be removed before the surgery, so she painstakingly took out each of them. She has about fourteen piercings, some of which have to be taken out with the help of another person and a pair of pliers. Not a fun experience, and even worse when they need to go back in. The radiologist told us afterwards that it wasn't necessary, meaning the front desk person hadn't even asked before making us deal with that. No apologies were given. Eventually she was able to go in for the surgery itself, where my wife was promptly given too much laughing gas. The extreme dose sent my wife into a sort of waking nightmare, rendering what should have been a somewhat worrisome experience into something terrifying. This was her first experience with any type of surgery or anesthetic. Not a great introduction. The assistant had not received consent to use gas, and we had opted for general anesthetic by injection. Besides the questionable legality and ethics here, we aren't sure why the gas was needed. Probably so they could butcher the IV stick and not have to worry about the patient complaining while they got ready to go. Unprofessional, rude and I believe unacceptable. Again, the doctor himself did fine and I don't have an issue with him. If he had a different staff I would probably recommend this place highly, but that isn't the case. Everyone I talked to recommended Robert Allen, we would have been better off listening. read more

Dr. Louie and his staff were absolutely amazing with my 4 year old who had to be put under to have a tooth extracted. They were so caring (of both my daughter and myself) and kept me very well informed. They treated my daughter with love, compassion and kindness... as if it were their own child. Dr. Louie removed my son's wisdom teeth without issue. However. a month later one became infected. I contacted the office and was told Dr Louie is out for a week. I was referred to a Dr in Larkspur. I live in Petaluma so I mentioned this would be highly inconvenient and asked for a closer referral. I was told (rudely) they only refer to Larkspur. Furthermore, the Larkspur office seemed to have no idea why I was calling them and initially said they had no same day opening - my son clearly had an active infection. Eventually they agreed to see him late that day. Instead, I called Petaluma Oral Surgery who understood my issue, saw my son immediately and provided professional and kind service. My 9 year old had to have surgery to bring down a molar that never came in. Dr Louie was amazing with him and made him (and me!) feel so comfortable. The doctor even called us that night to make sure everything was ok. My son had very little pain and a quick recovery. This man is amazing. I have had two surgeries, both under anesthesia: two implants done at once and then my wisdom teeth. Dr. Louis is an exceptional man, with several doctorates (at least 3 from what I remember), he is the anesthesiologist for his practice. I will agree that they did go a bit overboard with the nitrous (laughing gas) and I did ask for them NOT to use it, but they did and then they shut it off once I told them I did not want it. After that they only ran oxygen through the mask. He started the iv to begin the surgery himself, and I could barely feel the needle, no he did not mess up or "butcher" the job. If you want an overly qualified, genuine, funny and kind man then go see Dr. Louis, you will not be disapointed. read more

First let me say that Dr. Lim is a great Dr. probably the best around. However, his staff member behind the desk is rude, incompetent and a liar. I showed up to my 1:20 appoint at 1:15 to find a locked door. I waited until 1:27 and called the office and left a message with their answering service and went home. They never called me back and when I finally got a hold of the woman at the Dr's office later that day she proceeded to lie and argue saying she had unlocked the door at 1:20 and was there the whole time as if she was talking to someone other than the person who was there with a phone in his hand. All they had to do was call me back, apologize they were late and I would have simply made the 2 mile drive back to the office but again, they never even called me back which led to this review and me having to find another DMD who will be not nearly as good. read more

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Louie and his team. They made me feel extremely comfortable with the procedure and it was very quick at less then an hour. I had little to no pain and was able to eat soft food immediately. I would highly recommend Dr. Louie for any work that needs to be done. read more

Went in for a consultation for a dental implant. Right off the bat, I asked for a ballpark estimate and they quoted about $6800. At this point I told them that was too expensive (apparently about double national average) and thanked them for their time. So, for about ten minutes in the office, and despite my protest, they still charged my insurance company for the consultation. Seems unethical, although I doubt unusual in the medical industry. We had a great experience with Dr. L and his staff during my 18 year old's wisdom teeth extraction last week. The staff were all very responsive to our questions. While my daughter was in surgery (which was unbelievably quick), the practitioner came out and explained after- care to us. This was a good, and most likely, an intentional plan on their part as it took up time so I wasn't worrying during the procedure, and also, she gave me a status update during the procedure. The office had a good sense of humor. Dr. L. is charming. We didn't have to wait long for any appointment, so they must've fixed whatever complaints they saw on here from years ago. Dr. Limchayseng is wonderful....he's a competent surgeon with a great sense of humor. I needed to see him because my general dentist performed a procedure that, I believe, should only be done by an oral surgeon. The procedure failed so Dr. Limchayseng was kind enough to not only take my call on a Saturday when the procedure started to fail to give me advice, he was able to fit me in that Monday. He was reassuring given the circumstances making me feel at ease with his great personality while clearly explaining what the coming months will bring due to the failed procedure. Scheduling was fast and easy, staff professional and courteous, and most importantly, Dr. Louie was great. It's hard to describe an extraction as a pleasant experience (and this wasn't) but it was not at all bad, and much much better than other extractions I've experienced. Dr. Louie is by far the best oral surgeon in Marin County and if you have a challenging case, by all means, go to Dr. Louie. We went to the Novato office and have never been to the Petaluma (or any of his other) office(s). The main problem with going to Dr. Louie is he has his patients back to back without any room for back-up. I also found his office staff abrasive. I took my daughter to his office for a couple of procedures and each time we were on time but still had a very long wait (the first surgery for well over an hour). Mind you, there was a long wait for all the consultations before and after her surgeries, too. The office staff made us both of feel as though we were a nuisance for sitting in the waiting room. Dr. Louie was so pressed for time that I don't feel like I got my questions answered. Immediately after surgery, the nurse woke my daughter up, put her in a wheelchair and wheeled her to the door to leave while Dr. Louie prepared for his next patient/surgery. Dr. Louie passed us in the hallway as we were booted out the door. Dr. Louie did excellent work on my daughter's mouth but the everything before and after surgeries is in dire need of improvement. When it came time for her to get her last surgery (albeit less complicated one) done, we went to another oral surgeon and had an excellent experience. read more
