Horrible customer service these people act like its an inconvenience for you to be in there store.

This place is a cute hardware store, but the small engine repair shop has terrible customer service. I have had a few things repaired here. They are slow as Christmas, first. Second, the shop Manager was very rude when I spoke to him about my weed walker that had supposedly been "fixed" after 6 weeks of waiting for it. I will not be going back there to have any other repairs fixed. read more

Its an ok Hardware store. A little expensive. And sometimes limited on some things. But as far as basics and convenience, they are well located and seem to carry most general type stuff. They also do Small engine repairs here. From parts to warrant work on several brands of mowers. However their turn around time can be a little lengthy. Might be due to the amount of work load, they always seem to have a mountain of mowers there. All in all it's an average hardware store. read more

This business has the absolute worst customer service. Don't waste your time or money, especially if you happen to buy the wrong part because they won't take it back even if it's new and still in the packaging AND you have a receipt from the day before! What a racket. They definitely aren't the only game in town and we won't be using them again. They arrogantly treat people like crap because apparently they don't think they need your business. Save your time and money and shop elsewhere. I wish that I could give them ZERO stars. read more

I don't know what happened to the Alexander Hardware of old but it certainly isn't like it used to be! A good hardware store it is but a small engine repair shop it isn't anymore. I don't know if they fired the techs who used to do the small engine work but the people they've got doing it now are awful! Here's what happened to me: a few months back my weed trimmer broke so I took it to Alexander's to get it fixed. About 2 weeks later I called to check on it's status and was told they had to order a part for it and it might be another week. No big deal; I knew they were backed up but I was in no hurry as I borrowed my dad's weed trimmer to take care of my lawn work. Well, about a week later they called me and said "it's unrepairable because the cylinder wall was scored and had no compression." This was weird because the engine ran just fine and my problem was the drive shaft had broken and just needed replacement. I assumed that they had found something else wrong and had my dad run by there and pick it up. About an hour later I called my dad back and told him what they told me and asked him to try and start it. He primed the pump bulb, set the choke, pulled the start cord and BRRAAAAAAAMMMM!!!! It fired right on up! Now, if a cylinder has no compression it would NEVER start! I later took it to Campbell's Repair another shop just down the road and all he did was change the spark plug and order a new shaft and now it works just fine. But if that's the cake here comes the icing on it.....about 2 days after this silly fiasco I received a voice message on my cell phone saying "It's going to cost $70 to fix your weed trimmer; did you still want us to proceed with it?" WTF!!!??? I had already got it back from them and they called me saying their ready to fix it!!?? Obviously these kids got my weed trimmer mixed up with someone else's and now I'm out of 30 bucks and they didn't do diddly squat to it! The reason why I call them "kids" is because my brother in law had a bad encounter with them a few months before I did and he noted that they had nothing but what looked like 18-22 year olds working in repair shop there. It seems their inexperience and lack of organization skills underscores why they screwed my repair ticket up. My advice, if you need small engine work done take it to Campbell's Repair on Gunn Road. It might take them a few weeks but they do a superb job. As for Alexander's, I'm done with them. read more

I took my grandkids gokart and 2 new tires to alex. hdwr. they said when they took the old tires off it needed new wheel bearings and the shaft was ruined; they needed to order the bearings. 2 weeks later i picked it up: $216. I asked them before i paid it, "is this warranted for any amount of time?" They said, "the parts have manufacturers warranty." got it home & the front tire (not one of the new ones) was flat. The rear new tire wobbles and there is a rubbing, whirring sound with each revolution.This is a totally new sound. I will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. I don't trust them. I don't know if I should take it back & try to make them "fix" it, or get someone else. OH yes I know: GET SOMEONE ELSE. read more

This store also repairs small engines (lawn mowers etc.). I took my push mower in two weeks ago and gave VERY specific written info about the small problem. The clerk even commented in a complimentary manner that it was the most specific description he had ever received, HOWEVER, instead of passing the note on to the repair dept., he gave it back to me and did his own summary on the work order. I waited 8 days and didn't hear from them so I called them. It wasn't ready for two more days. I picked it up, went home to mow my yard, and the same problem was still present (NOT REPAIRED) (briefly, it runs about five minutes and dies). I took it back. They have now had it 6 days, even though it was a re-do and should have gone to the top of their list. Every time I call, I have been asked to hold. I hold 15 minutes (timed),then hang up and call back. This has happened the three times that I have called them. I have never been greeted when I walk into the store and no one has EVER thanked me for my business. Once I get my mower back, I will never set foot in that store again. If the mower is not fixed this time, I am going to contest the charge with my credit card company. I try to support small businesses, having been a business owner myself, but this store gives small businesses a VERY BAD NAME. STAY AWAY ! read more
