It's a little hidden gem of a hardware store but definitely worth the trip if you'd like to get out of the city, go for a drive, see some cows, horses, old barns, and abandoned rail cars along the way.

I have been redoing the bathroom on Lil Pugs side of house and had a leaking faucet, replaced cartridges and still leaks. Made the trip to Wigman's and talked with the fella about it, he schooled me on spring/seal behind cartridges. He set me up with what I needed and instructions on how to install, a simple procedure I am sure everyone knows but me (I am more auto repair than home repair). Followed his steps and leak gone in less than 10 minutes, no telling what drama and expense he saved me. Every trip here is the same, it starts with a "what can I do to help" and ends with a reasonably priced purchase of ONLY what I need, and tips and pointers on how to do it. They didn't have the handle I needed but it is an older and unusual item, (who breaks a shower handle?) and they do often have those type items. If you need a REAL hardware store, you can't beat Wigman's. Prices are in line with big box, help yourself 'cause employee is former fry cook at local burger joint stores. Support this local business as they will offer you help and knowledge, something people seem to have lost a value in.

Ace tends to have among the best customer service of any of the hardware type stores I've experienced. The folks working at most Ace locations actually seem cheerful and happy to help you find something or give suggestions on the best items for certain projects. The staff are also good about reminding you about available discounts and other money saving options. The experience at most Ace locations is far better than what you typically get at Lowes, Home Depot or Walmart.

Anything from yard care to plumbing, air filters, or pool supplies. I cannot comprehend how they can fit everything I need in such a small store without it feeling overly cramped -- but they do it well here! They will give honest recommendations for what you ask and will not try to upsell you on products just to make an extra buck. They are more focused on earning loyal, returning customers than creating a bad experience with higher sales. The mix of friendliness, honestly, and helpfulness has turned me into a loyal, returning customer for anything and everything I can purchase here.

When I brought it back that afternoon for help in starting it, the man who had sold it to me was very unprofessional, with a complete lack of people skills. He got angry and contradicted me, claiming to know everything since he'd been to Stihl "school". But he was wrong. Stihl's own directions for breaking in a new saw contradict what he said. Where do they find these people? I hope I don't ever have to go back there again.
