Came here for a friend's birthday dinner. Logistically, it was great. They were able to accommodate a large group, and they were great about letting us split up the check -- immensely helpful with a group of 15 people. Food-wise, though, I'd say it's mediocre at best...I ordered the caprese panini based on the recommendation from the server. At first it was bizarre -- then I realized that instead of basil, which is normally in caprese sandwiches, it came with what seemed like lettuce and parsley. Not quite interchangeable. I also got a side of the tots. Can't really go wrong with tots: fried potatoes, but I don't know if they were "Baltimore's Favorite". Tator Tots - if you like them you should be hear. Sure, the burger was pretty good, and they seem to have an extensive menu, but Alexander's is really putting the emphasis on Tator tots. Nacho Tator Tots, Crab Tator tots... they literally have a section of the menu dedicated to them. I ended up getting it with the crab dip. The tots were good - but the sauce was a bit rich for tots in my opinion.... but I cleaned the plate so I can't complain. The burger - with crab dip - was damn good too. As far as the place goes - we came in through the bar entrance. It looked like a really typical dive bar. As we were about to head up the stairs, a bar tender let us know that the dining area was next door. This lead us to a completely different atmosphere. Really a nice casual restaurant. An odd thing about this place is the specials - you don't really know what they are. We were informed all burgers were $2 off - but I didn't see this written anywhere. Good prices, large menu with a lot of variety and a TON of different tot options! It was surprisingly not as crowded as I expected for a Saturday night. We got the last table outside so I could people watch but there were a lot of tables available inside. We started off with the Texas tots. The cheese and bacon bits were distributed evenly onto the tots. It was the perfect amount for an appetizer to split between two people. For my entree, I got the Broadway Quesadilla with grilled chicken. The queso cheese in the dilla was to die for and the chicken was cooked just right. My boyfriend got the Korean pizza. All I can say is that after almost every bite he kept repeating, "this is soooo good." Our waitress was super nice and very attentive. We can't wait to go back soon. read more

Stopped in for a GF Lump Crab Cake with 2 sides. My daughter ordered a regular crab cake. They were not lump crab meat but back-fin mixed with imitation crab. Shame on them. Brunch at Alexander's Tavern is seriously as good as it gets. Considering that I have literally ate at every brunch place in the Greater Philadelphia Metro area, I feel I can make this statement with a certain gravitas. and let me tell you, Alexandre's is as good as any place I go to in Philly. The menu itself is standout. It has a number of interesting, daring dishes. The smothered tots (tots smothered in cream chipped beef) were my choice, and I chose well. Salty, crunchy, creamy and wonderful. My friends got the steak benedict and crab cake benedict, and both were winners. I really liked the atmosphere here, and it was very light inside and unassuming. Simply a plant on the table. the servers were courteous and kind. Unlike Philly, the emphasis was often on the dishes instead of the decor. I really appreciated that. Had the Maryland Tots and let me say, if the review were based on that alone, it would be a 4 pushing 5 star review. The servers were friendly and attentive and were able to transfer my tab upstairs without any glitches. The upstairs bartender gave us free reign of the TV and I was even able to use my Yelp check-in to get a $3 dollar draft. The main reason I go 3 on this place is because the bar is very narrow, both up and down, and feels dirty. I suppose that's par for the course in Fells Point, but atmosphere is a big thing for me so feeling cramped and dirty cramps my style! If you aren't deterred by tight spaces you'll like this place for sure. read more

My friends and I started our tour of Fells Point by grabbing dinner at Alexander's before heading over to the bar area of the tavern. We got there around 8/8:30 on a Saturday night and expected to have a bit of a wait. That was okay to us and we figured we could at least grab a couple drinks on the bar side before grabbing a table. However, we got there at just the right time as there was a bachelorette party leaving and another table of four getting ready to leave as well. We were quickly seated. Our server was working the bachelorette party with a lot of separate checks so it took her a few minutes to get to us, but that was okay because we had waters on our table and nothing but time to get caught up on chitchat. My friends ordered margaritas and I stuck with a Boh (cause I'm classy like that ... actually, because it's near impossible to get in New England). We split an order of the chips and salsa which was served with three dishes: tomato salsa (delish), queso, and mango salsa. We inhaled those with no problem. One friend had the Texas tots that looked to die for, another had the Fells Point wrap which was huge and served with potato tots roasted in Old Bay, and I had the jerk chicken salad. I don't like a lot going on in salads and when I saw it was served with just lettuce, jerk chicken, and mango salsa... I was sold. It was one of the best salads I've had in awhile. Our total tab, with drinks and tip, was $50-something. Our server, Sarah, was so friendly and awesome! After dinner, we moved over to the tavern part to wait for a few friends to show up and grab some drinks. The bar is long and narrow which makes it really difficult to traverse when it is two-or-three-deep, but I found the crowd (in general) to be: friendly, understanding when you bump into them, and somewhat of the older-to-post-college-age crowd. The bartenders were also super nice and really fast with making drinks and change. I think I heard correctly in their policy of a $10 minimum on credit card tabs, which isn't bad at all. To sum up: good comfort food, friendly service, cold Boh, and a fun bar. This is definitely a place I will return to when I come back to Baltimore! read more

Great choices fit for hung over foodies and friendly service abounds here! We stopped in here after perusing the Fell's Point Flea Market and were not disappointed! I had a special frittata which had sausage, new potatoes, artichokes and goat cheese drizzled lightly with hollandaise sauce. So delicious! M had a Sausage and cheddar omelette and we partook of the house special Tater Tots. They have brunch specials so of course, there are drink specials on bloody marys, mimosas and the old standard, screwdrivers. They have a lobster hash that I will definitely try on my next trip to Fell's Point. The service was very good for a busy Sunday and we didn't have to wait long to be seated. I absolutely love AT's. I don't go to Baltimore often, but when I'm in town and looking for comfort food and good vibes, this is where I come. I spent 2022 NYE here and I couldn't have been happier. Chris and Tristan bartended the whole night. They put the Michigan game on for us earlier in the night and kept the hospitality rolling the rest of the night. The staff cultivate a culture of respect and inclusiveness that make this one of the homiest bars in Fells. read more

Stumbled upon this place last night while visiting fells point, with my husband, for my birthday. The service was great! The bartenders had great personalities. The drinks were hands down the best .. maybe ever. I had the lemon blueberry crush. SO refreshing! The crushed ice was a game changer. There was a mix-up and no one came to our table for nearly an hour (we actually had to go looking for someone, despite having to be added to the waitlist to be seated in the first place). We had only planned to spend a couple hours at the tavern, but ended up spending about four hours at our table, mostly sitting and waiting. Mmmmmmmmm so I was strolling through fells point and came upon this place. The menu looked great so we went in! The place looked a little hippy and we ordered margarita pizza and bbq tots (sweet potato tots with pulled pork and cheese). it was to share between two, and while it took a little bit to clean up our table, the waitress was very sweet and patient. And the food finally came out - oh gracious. I can't speak for the other dishes, but this combination was gold. margarita pizza was thin crispy and tangy, and the potato tots were perfectly fried with a lot of topping. on top of that, the portions were huge. great experience - all for $23! As a parent of a toddler, I now judge all places based on how kid-friendly they are. This place already has weekly/monthly kid-friendly nights that make it less painful to go out with a baby or toddler, the holy grail being their Valentine's Day date night - it includes babysitters! We got to eat and drink downstairs (with half off wine! and food specials!) in peace while 2 very responsible and mature teenagers made sure our son had fun upstairs crafting, watching cartoons, and learning how to play shuffleball. Stopped in for dinner on a Saturday and was surprised to find it wasn't busy; the speed and quality of service we got would have indicated otherwise. The bartender pretty much ignored us after getting our initial orders in, and I even had to flag down a separate, almost equally inattentive bartender just for a second drink after the meal. Our original bartender was much more interested in the single lady at the end of the bar, so much so that he even joined her on her side of the bar while we sat staring at empty glasses for over twenty minutes. But I digress - the tots really are legendary, the brisket burger I had was fantastic, and my partner's salad was great. Drink menu is so-so, but gets the job done. A gem of a watering hole nestled in the bustle of Fells Point is AT's - a great place for both tater tots and liquor shots. I recently visited for the first time and the barkeep Casey not only provided excellent service; he also managed to teach me a great deal about the history of the area in between taking orders with a sparkling demeanor and wishing newcomers very happy welcomes. He ended up connecting me to a friend of his and long story short, I now own a 27' sailboat and am having the best summer of my life. Ended up here after receiving little service at another place. We entered hangry, and left satiated. Atmosphere: cozy, quaint , and rustic Service: friendly, funny, and prompt. Food: freakin' amazing! Here's what we ordered and how we liked it: Meat Lovers Strata- steaming hot layered casserole of brioche, eggs and all the meats. Very hearty meal in a small package. Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict- 2 English muffins topped with perfectly poached eggs, sweet BBQ pull pork and house-made hollandaise. Served with crispy home fries. Surprisingly light. French Toast- real French toast...not previously frozen. Sweet and buttery. Breakfast Mac- bow tie pasta in a velvety cheese sauce topped with scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. Made me lose my mind. You'd think that all this stuff would ruin the integrity of mac n cheese if mac n cheese were the kind of thing that could ever have integrity. And, to top it off $3.50 mimosas and Screwdrivers served in 16-ounce glasses. As far as I am concerned, that other place did us a HUGE favor. Love Alexanders... One of my fav. bars in Fell's Solid beer choices, not the greatest, but decent enough. One thing you will find is that Bmore has some GREAT beer bars (Max's) so to always be compared to that has to be tough. But Alexanders does a solid job not only with the beer, but the specials, food and fun! Like most of the bars in Fells when you first walk in, you are greeted by a long bar with a long skinny hallway. Alexandars is the same, but they offer a couple tables in the back and an Upstairs! The upstairs has a bunch of different games so it is def. worth a try, and its great to parties so alot of people rent it out. On to the other items, food and drinks... Alexandars offers a good, not HUGE array of drinks, beer and food. On the food side, the food is solid! Pretzels, tater tots, etc... my mouth is drooling already. The drinks/beer/specials are good too... you can drink your face off with a group of people during HH and you won't break the bank. Alexanders also has outside seating which is nice when the weather is good and you enjoy people watching! So bottoms up and grab that last round cuz HH is about to end! read more

Sweet Jesus I had a good time here. While that might be in part due to my fantastic friends who hosted an open bar in the private room upstairs, I will say that I'd happily return to Alexander's when I'm back in Baltimore. Downstairs was pretty empty around 10pm on a Saturday night, and considering I didn't make my way back downstairs until 3am or so, I have no idea if it ever got crowded. The upstairs private room was incredible: a small but well stocked bar, shuffleboard table, foosball, and the piece de resistance: a large flat screen with Wii attached, including Guitar Hero. Oh happy day. While most of my time was spent with guitar in hand or kicking ass at bowling, I *somehow* managed to get my fair share of drinking in. Good assortment of beers on tap: the Hefewizen treated me well. The shots were also tasty and, um, well sized. I munched on a bit of "gourmet" popcorn as well that was supremely addictive, as all good popcorn should be. Every staff member that I encountered was incredibly friendly... dare I say, jovial? And although Julie H. and I did not see The Wire-like grit that we were hoping for on our trip to Baltimore, I'm still impressed with the city's offerings in terms of good, clean, drunken fun. read more

Why aren't these dishes soggy and wilted from sitting under the heat lamp all afternoon waiting for some poor sap to order the RW menu? Why are these 3 courses $20.13? I chose this place (1) because they posted their restaurant week menu on their website up front, in your face, no clicking around thru obscure links. (2) because that menu had items on it that sounded great. (3) because 2 elite yelpers I know personally gave the place great stars. (4) because I could make a reservation on OpenTable. So for me, the place was already winning when I arrived. But wait! There's more. We parked right in front, on the street, for free (after 8pm). Were seated right away at a two top in the window. The hostess and server were extremely nice (or was I just used to DC service?).... (...they even adjusted the temperature when Mara G was still chill from her plane ride). And the food was extremely good. It was really great, fresh, individually prepared food. Not massed produced vats of restaurant week swill to dole out to the masses. I started with the panko crusted fried green tomatoes topped with crab (extra $4). It came with red pepper coulis, black bean/corn relish, atop baby lettuce. Fresh and flavorful! The chipotle pork medallions on mashed potato with sauteed spinach and stone fruit compote, mmm. A tiny bit of smoky, spicy pan juice plus the sweet but not cloying stone fruit compo was the best kind of flavor colission. This was a great experience. Overall. I'm a fan. We headed over here after an unpleasant experience around the corner. I'm really glad we did! We arrived at about 2:45, just in time to order brunch. The kids shared a pancake and french toast, and were very happy to enjoy orange pineapple juice. I had an interesting brunch... a nice cold draft beer (Check-in deal $3!,) tomato soup, and french toast! I know, strange combination, but they all looked good, so why not? My husband ordered the breakfast nachos at our server's recommendation. My french toast was fluffy and delicious- I was very pleased! My 4-year old who insisted he wanted pancakes ate his half pancake and half french toast (We split it amongst the kids so they could try both) he ate another whole piece of my french toast! If you know my son, that should be all the review you need! Hubby was quite happy with his breakfast nachos- we might try to make something like that at home. The customer service was very good! We were greeted right away and chose our own table, and the server who sat us (ended up not being our server) was friendly. She greeted our kids, gave them crayons and menus, and was inviting and nice. Our server had a great attitude and was very welcoming as well. She helped my husband choose between 3 items he was interested in and made her recommendations very well, I thought. The kids' food and soup came out pretty quickly, and our breakfast followed within a very reasonable time. We'll be back! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because after we ate our breakfast, it took awhile to receive our check. When we did get it, a couple very small corrections needed to be made. Our server was apparently working on it behind the scenes when she noticed it, but I didn't realize that and asked another lady to look into it. As such, we have 4 pending charges but that should resolve itself quickly enough anyway. :) We enjoyed breakfast very much, and then were happy to walk through some of the remnants of the Fells Point Festival (but that time + rain, and it was shutting down, where we were, for the most part.) read more
