As a newly-diagnosed celiac, going out to eat has become such a struggle which is frustrating because it is something I like to do! Enter Alexander's Tavern, who offers the most extensive and all-inclusive gluten-free menu I have ever witnessed! Not one tiny section, not half a page, but a full menu--front and back! I was able to order wings and fries and a sandwich with zero fear. They have dedicated GF fryers and mitigation strategies to reduce the risk of cross contamination. Service was excellent and we got a table by the bar for lunch on my birthday. We don't live nearby, but made the special trip once I saw their menu and it was the best decision ever. The food is typical pub grub--comfort food, in fact. I was so happy to finally taste things I haven't been able to have in a while, and I was super thankful that this restaurant takes GF dining so seriously. The food was average at best. The brussels sprouts had no bacon in a "maple-bacon" order, and they were a little overdone and also soggy (delivery order). The pizzas were okay, but pretty small and the tomatoes and crab meat were definitely not fresh... all in all, pretty disappointing for a $33 order. read more

This was my first restaurant week brunch experience! The waitress was very attentive and welcoming. She came to check up on our table multiple times throughout the meal. The French toast bites for appetizer were decent. They were a little too sweet for me--the gingerbread flavor was a tad overpowering. But the idea of French toast bites is genius! I always have trouble deciding between savory and sweet for brunch, and this was the perfect solution! I could have a sweet dish for appetizer and a savory one for the main dish! The pork and crab benedict (4$ more for crab) I ordered was one of the best Benedictus I've ever had! It wasn't too salty nor was it drenched with hollandaise sauce. The pork was tender and the crab was fresh! And, the location in fells point is beautiful, just a few minutes walk from the water. I would definitely recommend coming here for brunch!! read more

Ate here last night with my boyfriend for a little date night while we visit from the Philly area. First of all, as a celiac who follows a gluten free diet, being greeting as we sit down with "Does anyone need a gluten free menu?" is an absolute charm. And it's a full menu y'all, not just 2 or 3 options and some half-assed salads. I got the tots with crab dip, lump crab, and old bay on top, which were lovely. I got the pesto gluten free pizza and it was very good. I'm usually not a fan of gluten free pizza crusts or anything of the sort, but I took a chance and it was great! My boyfriend got the regular veggie pizza and fries with garlic aioli - pretty sure I ate more of the aioli than he did lol My only complaint was that there were two VERY loud parties going on while we were there, which is certainly not the restaurant's fault. I had the Steak Caesar Club $9- marinated flank steak with tomato, lettuce, applewood smoked bacon and Caesar dressing( I add cheese for $1 more). The flavors were very nice and the dressing wasn't over powering. The fries are the skinniest shoe string fries I have ever seen and reminded me of those Andy Capp's Fries but 10 times better! The male in our party had the of the daily special pannis. The other female in the out party had the Cheese steak on French Bread. We each tired a different seasoning on our fries: House and Old Bay. The food was tasty and well prepared. The service for the most part was average- when we did want our check it did take some time. the atmosphere is very inviting and the bar is very roomy. First place I visited on my trip to Baltimore and it was truly a pleasure. The crab dip was unlike any I've had before, I wanted to place another order to take home! The burger I had also had crab dip on it, the tomatoes were cut very thick but besides that great experience. The staff was friendly and made sure we were always taken care of. The place was very picturesque and I loved the way one side of the room had a bench along the wall with pillows against it for the people to sit comfortably. I'm confused by all of the positive reviews. Maybe I should have went in instead of ordering takeout? Ah well, so I placed my order via Yelp (Grub Hub). When it came we realized that I had received the wrong order, even though the order was correct on the receipt, so I know it wasn't the drivers fault. My friend ordered honey old bay wings. They were bland, over cooked, and cold. I got the honey reference, but I'm confused as to why it's called honey old bay? Neither myself nor my friend tasted any remnant of old bay seasoning. I opted for the Tot-chos but instead received an order of buffalo chicken tots. I'm not a fan of buffalo anything, neither is my friend so we were reluctant to try it, however we found a few tots that weren't smothered in it and desperately took them down. Ugh! They tasted like they were fried in old oil, with no seasoning, for entirely too long. Needless to say we will have to make other arrangements for dinner tonight. I would not recommend. read more

I really enjoyed my experience at Alexander's Tavern. Went with two of my friends for brunch on Halloween day and was greeted by friendly servers donning funny costumes (and masks!). We were promptly seated inside (it was far too cold to sit inside) at tables with signs that denoted they were just cleaned. Social distancing was enforced. Mimosas and screwdrivers were $3.50 for a 16oz, pretty cheap! And it wasn't watered down. Decently large brunch selection with reasonable prices. My breakfast sandwich with home fries was (I think) around $10. Would've given 5 stars if the food came out a bit faster and they had slightly larger portion sizes. There was a group of at least 8 eating when we got there so if you have a bigger group they can comfortably accommodate you. Drinks - The brunch drinks were so cheap! $3.50 for a mimosa or screwdriver. Naturally, we were super excited! Unfortunately they tasted super cheap as well. AT's is always a solid choice. I am a big fan of all the paninis offered- particularly the TBC and the caprese inspired ones. The tots are so good and a fan favorite. Although they got rid of their broccoli side, the asparagus is a good replacement. The consistency was just perfect, the amount of crab in it was really impressive and the flavorful cheeses, and the perfect amount of old bay...every aspect of it came together to make it the perfect soup if you're craving some crab and/or cheese and/or soup on a rainy day like today :-) The staff were super friendly too! My wife and I decided to walk to Fells Point and try AT for the first time. We made a reservation but nobody seemed too interested in the fact when we arrived. The first server seemed reluctant to wipe down the table we selected as she debated with her co-worker as to whether it had been wiped down or not. But Devan E. our server saved the day, wiped the table down and proceed to change our first impressions with excellent service the rest of the afternoon. The food was great we had the brussel sprouts and fish and chips. Everything tasted fresh and was hot. I like my food served hot! The bread pudding bites for dessert were so-so. Think it's brownies and ice cream next time. Great to be in a restaurant again and great to see AT adding a 20% dine in gratuity for their staff - and live dangerously add an additional tip! The staff is kind and attentive and I really appreciated that. Nice little hole in the wall and I truly enjoyed getting to experience this spot at fells point. I'm very disappointed by Alexander's last night. We were looking forward to going as one of my friends has celiac disease and Alexander's has an entire menu to accommodate. 6 of us come in around 7, well before the place got busy. We order drinks and appetizers. The drinks come out oddly, the ladies first, then 15 minutes later, the rest of the drinks. We are sitting there for 45 minutes before the waitress (Faith) comes out and remembers that we haven't had our appetizers yet. She blames the kitchen for not delivering. The appetizers were fries and chicken tenders ... something even with a busy kitchen could have taken no longer than 5 minutes. The thing was, the restaurant wasn't full and all 6 of us got our mains prior to the fried appetizers coming out. Our food comes out prior to the appetizers. Faith offers the apps at 1/2 price for taking so long (which at this point, we don't even eat). Dinner was ok. No one was particularly impressed but no one was disappointed. I also had a desert, as I ordered from the Restaurant Week menu. The dessert was the driest desert I've ever had. After 2 bites, I ask the waitress to try it and send it back. I've probably returned food to the kitchen less than 5 times in my life and complained to a restaurant manager about the same. The desert, on top of everything else, was just too much. When the manager came over and I polity explained what happened over the course of the dinner, he gave a very week apology and took the apps off the bill. Again, we were very excited about Alexander's and completely get things go wrong in a kitchen. Everyone at the table has worked at a restaurant before, we get it. But don't lie about it (Waitress) and do what you came to make up for it. read more

Visited this place past Saturday for brunch for my friend's birthday and the food was really mediocre. The Baltimore omelette had hardly any lump crab in it (it also had no garnish or other add ins) and the pancake was very dry. The only thing that was a positive was the breakfast potatoes, but I wasn't impressed with much else. It was also odd that the restaurant was practically empty when we got there at 11:30am, when brunch generally starts at 11am. The server Laura was very nice, but unfortunately I won't be returning. We hosted our rehearsal dinner for our wedding at Alexander's Tavern on 4/22, and we were blown away by the hospitality, food, and overall experience! We searched long and hard for the perfect place for our event (45 people), and as soon as we spoke with Carrie we were sold on Alexander's. She and Elizabeth made it so easy to plan the dinner, from discussing menu options, to working with one of our guests who is Celiac, to accommodating our numbers. Everyone enjoyed the buffet style appetizers and dinner options, and dessert was delicious as well. The servers we worked with, especially Tristan, were all so kind!
