My Alexandra's experience and unique treasures made my day. Although most high-end clothing stores seem to stock small sizes, I found three unique, classy pieces within half an hour that fit my size 14 body. (I've learned to ignore size labels and usually get lucky!) Not only did I receive delightful service, when I was "talking to myself" about whether I needed the whimsical scarf in hand, the kind associate said, "If you can't see an immediate use for it, don't buy it!" New ownership has fairly annihilated one of my all time favorite places. Alexandra's used to be a place where all the consignors brought clothing that was in pristine condition, clean, fresh, ironed, perfect. The prior management organized items by color, and displays were easy to access, with room between clothing items so that it was easy to look at each piece. This is not the case today. Now the clothes are so packed in that it's difficult to pull pieces out, there is now a decided musty smell, the quality of clothing is now ordinary, not high-end, and the prices have increased. I am very sad that my favorite place for shopping is now in such decline. read more

Not impressed. I had really high hopes for this store after receiving a recommendation from a Portland consignment shop and reading glowing Yelp reviews but will likely not be back. Yes, its all designer, and yes, there is a large selection but I spent a decent amount of timing combing through the racks and did not find one item worth trying on. I am 29 and I felt like the selection is aimed at a much older clientele, which is totally fine, but not for me. If you are in your 20s or a youthful dressing 30s you may well feel the same. read more

This store has treasures galore! From mid-range to high end most anyone can shop here. The best part of this well-stocked store is the service! The manager (who has been working there for 20+ years) is the kindest lady you'll meet. I stopped in just for a short time just before they were closing. I HAD to go back the next day because there was so much more I needed to look at. They called me by my first name as well as many other customers that came into visit. I don't think their customers would be returning if their service or products were bad. If you're a HIGH-END consumer and want to look for a 'treasure' then know your product, because they do have a sign that says, "All Sales Final." But if you are a HIGH-END consumer, then you probably wouldn't be shopping there. Consignment stores can be hit or miss but it's all in the fun of treasure hunting. They also don't hound you or fluff you up, by saying, "That looks great on you!" just to make a sale. It's too bad my niece gave them a low rating, even after they took back her product, that I returned for her, without knowing their sales policy. They didn't have to. They were upset at me at first, but realizing how I was caught in the middle, they were very, very apologetic to me. their selection is pretty current like what you find in the contemporary ladies section of department stores today, not much is very unique. the pieces cater to middle aged women and older women who are more streamline than outlandish. mostly size medium items all around and pretty much all are designer. i thought the lady working at the counter was courteous and wasn't watching my every move. read more

There many high end labels from purses to shoes. Items include Prada, LV, Dooney & Bourke, etc. There inventory changes seasonally and daily. There are deals of the day and you have to log on to Facebook/email to get notices. Don't forget to check out the back of the store. The service is okay, but not always willing to help. Awesome way to free your closet up from things you don't want to see in there anymore, things that don't fit or never did, and get some cash for things you really need. I have had good experiences each time I have visited. Down side - things take a long time to get on the racks and sell, and while I took many items there about 10 months ago, I have yet to see a check or a tax receipt in the mail. read more

Saw a TV ad and thought I'd check it out. This really is designer only clothing and all of it looks brand new because it comes from the closets of buy it, wear it once, get rid of it women and it's usually from the last season. Like I'd know. You'll see all the famous names like Prada, Dolce & Gabanna, Armani, Jimmy Choo, Hermes, Gucci, Fendi and plenty of others an unstylish Northwest hick like me wouldn't know. They say everything is 70% to 90% off the normal retail price which staggers me when I do the math, 'cause none of this stuff could be called cheap by any stretch of the imagination. However, if you're into fashion but can't afford a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes at retail but still shop at places like Nordstrom anyway, this is a good place to go. I went to Alexandra's because a local magazine reviewed it as a great place to buy designer purses. I have to disagree. Sure, they have quite a few purses, but most are inaccessible behind a glass, so close together it is difficult to see the selection. Of course, you can ask the store clerk to open the lock and let you see a purse in particular (or two), but I wished I could browse and handle them at my heart's content. In any case: this store is not for me, but it is probably a piece of heaven to label lovers. They only have super fancy, upscale designer stuff. Not my style, not my price range, and not my size (tons of smalls and mediums, few larges, and ha ha ha! for extra -larges). read more

Must have caught her on a bad day, but the clerk at Alexandra's yesterday (when I went in to consign a designer item) was rude. I went in with a full-length Gallery raincoat, worn once and vintage I might add, a brand that sells today at Nordstrom for $200-$300 new. She looked at it for barely three seconds and made the decision that it wasn't appropriate for her store. Was it the Size 14 label? or the label that said Made in Taiwan. Ok, politically incorrect maybe, but proof that the garment was vintage. When I left she voiced a departing remark in a sarcastic tone. It left me with a bad taste in my mouth and confirmation that buying in consignment shops is generally more pleasant than consigning to them. I'm off to First Avenue in search of nicer people. read more

Visited recently for the first time - Was a little overwhelmed by the selection (good!) but after some perusal it seems as though the clothing here is geared more towards older women.. there aren't too many contemporary pieces. I appreciate that they're selective in the labels that they accept, but personally I think there could be a little more selectivity in the actual clothing, because some of it is SO outdated. There are some nice jeans there, but there's only one rack of them so you kind of have to get lucky to find a pair you like in your size. I was however REALLY impressed with the shoe selection - lots of beautiful designer shoes at relatively cheap prices. I tried on a pair of suede knee-high jimmy choo boots that were going for $150 - doesn't get much better than that. The shoes were by far my favorite thing about this shop, and that's what'll be bringing me back again. read more

I regularly shop at Alexandra's-anytime I need a certain item but don't want to pay full price. They may have what I want. They ALWAYS have something I was not looking for but leave the store wanting it. The staff are extremely nice and accessible. Yes, some things are behind counters for safety---it's necessary! Ask and they are glad to show and don't expect you to buy it. These are women who genuinely appreciate fine goods and they enjoy showing and talking about it. I have been shopping at Alexandra's for years and treasure this unique designer clothing boutique. When I look in my closet, my most favorite items, and most frequently wore are ones purchased at Alexandra's. From classic to very trendy, I can find that special piece, especially with the help of Renee and Molly. These women know their designer labels, and have a great eye for what looks good on me. I can always count on their honest opinions, and thoughtful suggestions. It is rare any longer to find such personal customer service. I think Alexandra's has been downtown for over 25 years providing beautiful, affordable designer clothing and accessories. Be known that if you consign items with this lady, you will most likely never see any $$. I brought in bunch of shoes, handbags and a few evening gown to consign and as they tell me, it take MONTHS to "register" in system. Do not know why, but ok, they tell me. But I received only ONE check over period of 1.5 YEARS. I keep calling and sending manager emails about my things and no one wants to get back to me. Will never get my things back because they tell me they donated them due to lack of sale. Dishonest. Best to bring your valuable items to another consignment store or sell on ebay. Several people in my family have sold clothing/jewelry for almost 25 years at Alexandra's. It is a very high quality, designer-ish type of consignment store - so they tend to reject labels like Banana Republic or Ann Taylor - all merchandise is top-notch, and your 'stuff' will be evaluated according to very high standards - this is no 'Buffalo Exchange', 'Crossroads' - the owner deals with mature women for quality designer products, period. It can honestly be a bit frustrating trying to sell stuff with them b/c they are very picky - but yet I respect their overall business philosophy - and my deceased mother, my older sister, and I have consigned with them for many years. Apparently they have some 'storage warehouse' - so they even accept out-of-season clothing as they can store it - quite a rarity in the consignment world. Went in for the first time this past week. There are a lot of things, and I have to agree that the styles are mostly conservative- a lot of blacks. Small sizes are hard to find. There are some nice dressy shoes for the summer, but fall/winter selection is more limited. I buy one-of-a-kind pieces there, the sort of pieces you always wanted to own, but wouldn't, or couldn't, pay full price for. Renee is the best at finding things for you that you didn't know you couldn't live without...until you try them on and realize that life had no meaning before the Alexander McQueen black&white checkerboard skirt with the great detailing in the back. Truly one of my favorite places to shop. The staff is always friendly, always greets with a smile, and takes a real interest in their customers. And the selection is FABULOUS! From 18 to 80 you will find great things here. Sometimes things do start off high, but they reduce in a timely way, and the staff has even offered to contact me if and when something reduced. I have been shopping here for a few years now and the ladies were as pleasant to me the first day I walked in as they are today. They have a great customer base and even though it might take a while, your items generally sell.
