While the doctor was excellent, the front desk experience--specifically with Mary--was extremely unprofessional and is the reason for this rating. I received a confirmation call at 3:59 p.m. for an 8:00 a.m. appointment the following morning. I initially confirmed, then immediately reviewed my schedule and realized I could not attend. I called back at 4:01 p.m., but the office was already closed, so I left a voicemail right away to cancel. The next morning around 8:20 a.m., I received a call from Mary, the secretary, that was confrontational and scolding in tone. I was told my actions were "unacceptable," repeatedly lectured about the 48-hour cancellation policy, and spoken to as though I were personally responsible for broader scheduling issues and other patients not showing up. When I asked why my only real-time communication about this appointment occurred one minute before closing, Mary responded dismissively that a reminder text had been sent weeks earlier. Given the timing, that text could have been sent during major holiday periods (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), winter break, or during recent weather closures--making it very easy to miss or forget. Relying on a single text weeks in advance and then reprimanding a patient is unreasonable. I understand office policies and operational stress, but patients should still be treated with professionalism and respect. Unfortunately, the front desk experience overshadowed an otherwise positive visit, and I doubt I will be returning. read more

My daughter had a dental appointment here this week, and it occurred to me that she has been a patient since 2019. This office has truly been the ideal dental home for her. Dr. Lopez and Mary have consistently created an experience that is welcoming, calm, and easy for the both of us. Mary has always felt like family. She greets my daughter with genuine warmth, keeps scheduling seamless, and makes sure our insurance information is always accurate and up to date. Her consistency and kindness have made every visit smooth. Dr. Lopez is wonderful to talk to and has a gift for making the dentist feel approachable--even fun. WARNING - PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU VISIT THIS OFFICE!!! This front desk staff is extremely rude and incompetent. Mary the office manager has a belligerent attitude towards customers. They surprise you with new fees and procedure costs on the same day of your appointment. It makes you feel like you have no choice but to accept the new costs or you will have to reschedule for another visit. My toddler son has a small cavity and had a visit to get it done. On the prior visit , we were informed by that this will be a non-anesthesia procedure for the cavity. Ten minutes our appointment, we were told they will bill our insurance for gas nitrite anesthesia. This was a BAIT & SWITCH ambush. As parents, were not comfortable going forward with the change in procedure and the deceptive practice. This is not he first time the office manager did this to us. On the first visit for routine dental cleaning, they tried to bill me the $30 MEDICAL co-pay for a DENTAL visit. I told her we have never pay a co-pay for a dental cleaning since it's fully covered on our plan which we have for the last 5 years. When I mentioned this to the office manager, she became irate. I immediately called my insurance company and handed the phone over to the office manager to have them tell her directly that she wrong to charge me the co-pay. She yelled at the insurance rep and hung up the phone DR Lopez, you need to change your admin staff if you want to keep your patients. WE ARE NOT GOING BACK TO YOUR PRACTICE and many others have also made this same decision!!! read more

I'm very proud to say that little baby Jia had her very first dental appointment on December 13th at 10 months old. After we were warmly and happily greeted by Dr. Lopez upon entering the office, then we joked about his very Jimmy Neutron-esque hairdo that day (Dr. Lopez is extremely likable and easy to talk to) and we took a quick tour around the premises. We approached the lime green and white dentist's chair, where Dr. Lopez reviewed what the infant dental exam process would entail. Comfortable and smiling, Jia seemed ready to go. (I was familiar with the process since Dr. Lopez met with me a couple months ago to discuss the topic of infant dental hygiene for my blog littlesproutings.com) I held my little sweetie on my lap as we both relaxed into the dentist's chair. She wasn't a fan of the electronic recliner moving for us (or was it the man approaching with gloved hands?) so that instantly brought on some tears. I'm sure that the task of keeping an infant calm and happy while you're examining her little tiny mouth is no easy feat, but Dr. Lopez was able to get in there, count and inspect her 6 little chompers and apply a quick sweep of fluoride treatment to her little gums in about 15 seconds. Maybe next time we'll do the "knee-to-knee" method while Jia remains in my lap, for the exam. Maybe less tears? A TV screen is mounted on the ceiling, though probably more to my benefit than to Jia's, and was showing Happy Feet (such a fun touch, I wish I had ceiling-mounted TV's at home) for distraction. After what was probably a 2 minute total exam, Dr. Lopez reviewed what our next steps were (checkup in 6 months), what to expect (Jia's quick turnout of 6 teeth in months 6-7 probably means she'll slow down in the teeth sprouting adventures), and gave Jia some encouraging words and a super fun goodie bag (which was a great distracion with while we ate lunch downstairs). As a parent, I am very impressed by this gem. The office's bright colorful and cheerful vibe really sets a positive atmosphere. There is a little kiddie activity table with tiny chairs and a bucket of routinely-cleaned toys to keep busy toddlers occupied, and a waiting room TV that shows cartoons and other kiddie programs. The place has that "wow they must sanitize really well" feeling and everything seems super spotless. Dr. Lopez is currently a one-man show in his practice, working to focus on its growth starting in 2015. He's very involved with the families he serves, with a fun blog and a very active Facebook page that keeps lines of communication open with his families and addresses dental health in fun interesting ways. Even non-dental topics are featured, like a breast cancer awareness challenge for how many "likes" on Facebook his post would receive, which resulted in him wearing a bright pink tutu all day at the office! He also held a pumpkin carving contest, with photo submissions and prizes. I don't know of any (adult) dentist that does this, but I'm sure if they did, we wouldn't begrudgingly go to OUR appointments! Thanks Dr. Lopez, what your practice is doing is spot-on!!! This is a great place I love it. Have been talking my 2 older kids her for about 6 years even now that I have moved to Woodbridge. They also do such an amazing job with babies 1st time visit. They are Very gentle. The only reason why I gave them a four star.Is because I have been coming here for years. And I missed my sons appointment in April of 2021. And I had just recently moved and with the pandemic and everything there was a lot going on that I forgot his appointment. So they did contact me and when they did they seem very upset and frustrated that I missed the appointment and it seemed like there was a slight bit of an attitude about it and then along with that they said next time you guys are gonna have to find somebody else to go to. I didn't want to give 1 star because this is not the Dr. Lopez's fault at all, but his office manager has a bad attitude. I called to make an appointment for my son (new patient) because he needed a night guard, and I saw that they do pediatric Invisalign. Dr. Lopez answered the phone and was super helpful and sweet, he asked for my son's insurance ID# but then said his manager came back and passed the phone to her, she did NOT say hello or announce herself. So I'm sitting there for 5 minutes then she speaks(with attitude the entire way) HER: Ma'am, do you have the ID ME: yes, sorry I didn't hear you say hello or anything Her: Yea, we been here, I see he just had an exam so what do you need to bring him in for Me: a night guard and possibly orthodontics Her: do you plan on going to any other dentists Me: um? Not if you can do everything there Her: what's everything? What couldn't they do at the other place you went to? Me: well the night guard for starters and then orthodontics, don't you do Invisalign for kids? Her: Invisalign isn't orthodontics - we refer out Me: okay but you do Invisalign right? Unfortunately I did not have a great experience with my two young boys. One dental tech seemed ok, but still didn't take the time to understand my youngest was in a new environment and didn't make much of an effort to make him feel comfortable. And my youngest dental literally saw my kid as another number, and I'm sure I didn't even see her crack a smile at him. The dentist was ok, I feel like we were just another number of patients to add to the list. Dr. López is an amazing doctor but his office manager (Mary) is incompetent and rude to everybody. Mary called me and the first thing she said was that my insurance didn't want to accept the claims and that I have more than $500 in fees. She didn't explain the issue but I quickly called my insurance and dental office didn't even submit a claim!!! Anyway, I was able to solve the issue. At the appointment today, the other nice lady working there was talking to me and Mary interrupted her just to say that I didn't understand and that she shouldn't even try to explain to me...Hey, just because I look Latina doesn't mean I don't understand English!!! Mary constantly interrupted her just to make her point. Never said thank you when done with transaction and then looked at me like what are u waiting for... I am so annoyed that I will be looking another dentist for my kids! Dr. López, let us know whenever you let go Mary. I will be happy to go back. I would loved to have written a review of the actual experience I had but I have never been able to get past the receptionist. I can't even get an email form responded to. I'm just trying to make an appointment. I stopped in to ask questions about insurance and rates and possibly booking an appointment and the receptionist talked to me like I had a learning disability. She talked VERY slow and condescending. She took my information for her office manager to get back to me. No response. So I filled in an online form to try to get information on rates and make an appointment but NO ONE has responded. I am at my wits end with this dental office. The person who answers the phone is rude and wants to talk before understanding my reasons for calling. My wife uses my FSA debit card to cover visits. This place overcharges her each time and I constantly have to repay charges out of pocket to my FSA, since they don't have an invoice or Explanation of Benefits to reference. When I called moments ago, I found myself getting cut off while speaking by this rude receptionist. We didn't get anything resolved and she hung up on me. I know I have a credit but the credit doesn't help if I have to find that I have a credit by calling them. My FSA card is now cut off until I repay the FSA account.
