I took a family member there after December. I knew they were in my network based on my own research with my insurance company, but the first point of contact insisted that they weren't. Then, coldly, she asked, "Do you still want to come? Here's the charge." After about four back-and-forth texts, they finally realized I was right--they are in network. This was after I showed them screenshots from my insurance company confirming it. The actual cleaning was fine, but the follow-up billing was a nightmare. The bill came back as "out of network," and I had to make several attempts with my insurance company to sort it out. Then I received two bills for the full amount of the cleaning because whoever handles billing didn't submit it correctly with the treating physician. I emailed the office (and got the wrong email address), then called and was told again that we were out of network. Another call... and another call... Finally, I got confirmation from my insurance company that the information was finally submitted correctly. What a hassle. Find somewhere else to go for your cleaning. read more

The office is near my new place. I would say the office is well maintained and the hygienists are great. I had a deep cleaning and it was less painful than the last time I had one. Dr. Kambiz Tavakkoli does fine dental work and experienced no pain. My only concern is I fear he is pushing treatments that I don't need. He keeps bringing up Invisalign. I have one tooth that is out of alignment and he wants me to spend $7,000 and wear something in my mouth for 9 months to a year. I already expressed that I am not interested and he keeps bringing it up. Today, my appointment co-pay was over $700. I think I was quoted something around $250-$300. I realize he gave me a crown (with temporary filing), but I was expected just a filling for a small cavity. I might need the crown, but usually when I get one, I know that I am getting one before the appointment. So I am feeling a bit like I am going to a used car lot with this dentist. read more

As a travel therapist living in cities for short periods of time, I have to find medical and dental providers on a whim sometimes. I have procrastinated fixing my front teeth for 3 years, but figured I'd at least benefit from getting a consult from another dentist as my primary back home had conflicting information. Dr. Choi was very professional and laid out a firm treatment plan and rationale go with it. Normally, I am super nervous and would have had to go home to think about it, google the procedure like a millennial and then procrastinate some more. Dr. Kamran and his associates are seriously the best dentists. Unwillingly I had to visit another dentist last year and it made me appreciate him so much more. He always takes the time to speak with you and explain everything throughly. It's very obvious that his patient's happiness and health is more important than making an extra buck. The staff was friendly and professional, all the instruments and equipment was either new out of the package or deeply cleaned with disinfectant right in front of me; they gave me information about my insurance about coverages that I didn't even know before I went. The cleaning was done by very friendly staff who paused whenever I got scared (which was often) or wanted to rinse. The only single reason I didn't hit 5 is because other attendants kept coming in and out of the room behind me- five different times. Not great for a person with anxiety and a fear of dentists in general. But even with that, they were great. I'd definitely go back. Thank you Dr Choi and team! read more

I have a phobia against dentist offices and anything relating to dentistry. I have avoided dental work I've needed done for years. This morning, I needed to have a wisdom tooth extracted that was infected and giving me awful pain. From the start of the day when I called to inquire if Dr. Tavakkoli was available, I was greeted kindly by the perky woman who answered the phone. She confirmed my insurance was accepted there and even gave an idea of what I'd pay for an extraction. Upon arriving, she nicely greeted me and proceeded to give me the paperwork to complete as a new patient. This is what was stunning to me-- I was actually seen at the time I was scheduled to be seen!! I went in, got my xrays and met the dentist, Kamran Tavakkoli, who was nice enough but very informative and honest. He told me things I needed done in addition to the extraction (scaling), but didnt pressure me to commit to it. My extraction surgery was easy and quick! The only thing that hurt was getting the anathesia in the roof of my mouth. I am typing now, ten hours later and have absolutely no pain. I will be back to this dentist. Everyone in the office was kind and professional and the prices are very reasonable. read more

I highly recommend this dental practice. I've been coming here and seeing Dr. Kamran Tavakkoli since I moved to Alexandria from Arlington a few years ago, and have been very pleased. I am somewhat skeptical of dentists and dental work, but I've come to completely trust Dr. Tavakkoli. He's very earnest and thoughtful, and I believe really cares about each patient's care. In my case, when i started seeing him, I had a crown (put in by another dentist) that was causing some irritation. Before making any drastic decisions about replacing the crown - which I think he could tell I wasn't crazy about - we worked on a series of steps to observe the problem and try to solve it. When those didn't work and it was clear that we needed to replace the crown, he did an excellent job. I've had my new crown for a few weeks now and the irritation has completely disappeared. In addition to the fact that Dr. Tavakkoli does really good work, the staff at this dental office is very professional and friendly. Making an appointment is always easy, and the front desk staff always provide a breakdown of expected insurance coverage of any procedures I need to have done (and these are always very close to exactly correct, so no surprises). And the dental hygienists are all very careful, professional and kind. I recommended this practice to my husband and he has been happy with his experiences here as well. read more

They focus on all the major stuff with passion, while surrounding themselves with really capable dental staff for the routine visits and preparation (numbing) for the rough stuff. I can't believe I am writing a review about a dentist. I have always had a dislike for the dentist and was nervous and anxious each time I had a dentist appointment. That has changed since going to Alexandria Dental Partners. After visiting several dentists and not being completely satisfied, I decided to look for yet another dentist. I went thru my insurance and got a call from 1.800.Dentist. They recommended Alexandria Dental Partners and offered to make an appointment for me. I declined because I wanted to do my own research. After reading the excellent yelp reviews, I made the appointment and was not disappointed. What a great first impression!! The office is immaculate, the staff is friendly, helpful and takes whatever time is needed to not only explain your benefits but they want to make sure you understand. So far, I have had a cleaning, filling for a deep cavity and a root canal. I cannot believe how painless everything was, even though I had not been to the dentist for a couple of years - I did not need to use any pain medication (Rx or over the counter). Dr. Kamran and Dr. Kambiz performed the dental work and both are great and very professional - they make you feel at ease, explain what they will be doing and what to expect while they are performing the procedure as well as for the following days at home.
