After service my curls looked yellow and I was disappointed . Thank God I met Angelika who did a great job! I have been visiting Angelka for over 10 years! During this long time, I experimented a lot with colors, hair lengths and hairstyles. During this time, the salon has changed its address several times. But I always come only to Angelika because she's a really good specialist, always gives me good tips and suggestions for my hairstyle, she's responsible, and she's just a good person. Dana, the owner, who is also so sweet and fun, cut almost 8" off my hair my first time seeing her, and it looked amazing! I have lots of hair and it ranges from kind of wavy in the front to full on S waves in the back, so it's not the easiest to work with. Dana just knew exactly how to shape it so that it lays right, but still has lots of swing and movement. This salon is such a great find for me. Compared to what other salons charge, it is so reasonable to leave with hair you love!

I moved back to my hometown Chicago from NY after 10 years so I was looking for a hair stylist to stick with. shortly after I moved back in spring of 2013, I had a bday party to attend and needed a cut badly. on short notice I stopped by the nearest chain hair cuttery. it's wasn't a bad cut necessarily but it wasn't a good one either. she missed trimming at least one layer. and she scolded me for having dry hair, doing keratin, and not cutting my hair every 6-8 weeks. fast forward to this past Friday. I read a few reviews and also wanted to stay within driving distance of Jefferson Park. so Aiyu peaked my interest. I was super nervous but as soon as I walked in Dana was so warm and inviting. the place is small but very neat and modern. she mentioned her training and education which did put me a little at ease. conversation flowed with Dana, but I never felt pressure to converse (sometimes I just want to read a magazine or play with my phone and not necessarily have an hour long convo while my hair is being done) (FYI: I'm an introvert). but I felt really comfortable. the wash was great, she conditioned my hair more because it was dry and needed lots of dead hair cut off. but she never once scolded me. she asked and actually listened for what I wanted. and I too asked her opinion on length to cut but she didn't go crazy cutting my hair all short. I wanted a cut but I still wanted my long hair. when she was done I admit I was a little surprised, it was probably the best cut I've had. all the dead hair was gone. my hair was still long, and it was shiny and soft and so flowy. my boss complemented me as soon as I walked in to the office yesterday. Also the color is absolutely GORGEOUS not too ashy but the perfect warm shade that I strive for. I expressed that I want my hair to be able to grow longer and healthier for the next few months. And Julia did exactly that! It turned out to be so natural, and not to mention it is always difficult to find someone who knows how to style/ cut asian hair.
