I would pass this place up if you're looking for a good bagel. Sure, the bagels are ok, but there is nothing spectacular about them. While I love my NYC bagels, I have found some places in Jersey that are as good as NYC; Alfa is not one of them. My main issues with this place are the staff and cleanliness. The bagels alone could get 3 stars if I'm stretching. I went to Alfa 3 times and finally gave up. There are better bagel places around. Each time I went there, the two girls (yes, girls, they looked to be about 14 or 15) working behind the counter never greeted me or made eye contact. They just didn't interact with me as a customer at all. The other issue, and this is the big one for me, is neither girl wore gloves when preparing my bagel. So their hands, which have been who knows where, were touching my bagel. I personally saw them touching their cell phones (which everyone knows is one of the dirtiest things) and also touching money (another item that is extremely dirty). Those are very poor standards and unacceptable in food preparation. Skip this place if you prefer the staff to be clean. read more

Special orders do upset them, I asked for less cooked bagles and the cook got offended and made a nasty comment. When I asked to speak to the owner he was nasty, I will never go in this place again, too bad I always ordered platters and sent people there no I rather give my business a someone who treats customers with respect. read more

This is THE place place to get your bagels in western Morris County. I passed it for years and one day stopped in to see if they were any good-they were excellent! Always hot and fresh, they put other bagel shops to shame. The service is fast and friendly, but be prepared to wait for your favorite kind on a weekend. 100% worth the wait. Cash only, and their ATM is not very reliable so be sure to have cash before you go. My family's favorites: cinnamon raisin and everything. They also make great sandwiches for lunch. Best bagels to ever exist. They always come out fresh and warm. The bagels are very large but very delicious. If you go, make sure to try out the Taylor ham and cheese! They don't accept credit cards which is slightly annoying but they do have an ATM inside the place. They also have a very nice little sit down area if you want to sit down and eat. This store is unbelievable. Their food is sooooooo good from the bagels to the sandwiches. Best in Randolph by far. I don't even understand why Brooklyn bagel opened down the road. All of the bagels are HUGE, hot and super fluffy. Specialty cream cheeses are exceptional especially the walnut raisin and scallion. Deli sandwiches are loaded with fresh sliced meat and the breakfast sandwiches are better than anything else. Always go out of my way to get things there and never regret it. This is a great little gem right on RT 10! Even if you have them plain, I promise you this will bet he best bagel you'll ever have! Their eggs are SO fresh, I crave a egg and cheese on an everything bagel every weekend morning! For being so busy, the line isn't really that bad either. I frequent this place when I'm passing by they do have really good bagels I can honestly say I've never had a bad one. They are reasonably priced and the staff is very nice. However as of recently they have hired this one girl that is absolutely a miserable person I deal with miserable people day in day out with my job the last thing I need to see is one more miserable face when I stop somewhere to grab something to eat my suggestion to the owner of this bagel place get rid of her she's hurting your business. I find that I have a relatively thick skin so if I'm picking up on this that I'm sure other people are as well. The rest of the staff is very nice and get an A+ on service. I did see one post about them not handling the food properly I find that I'm a bit of a germaphobe if I'm not running for the hills by things I see in a deli than everybody else should be fine trust me. I've eaten there many of times and have never gotten sick from it. read more
