Sorry but not impressed. Stopped for a deli sandwich, not a bagel. Maybe that was my first mistake... See pics of my roast beef sandwich. After trying to simply chew the first half, I just had to throw it out. Completely inedible. Gristle, nasty chew beef. The roll was a chewy skinned store made roll that almost seems like a piece of paper is mixed in there somewhere and not really chewable among the fluffy middle. You have Anthony & Son's a block down the road. Just buy their rolls! How could someone who takes pride in the food they serve, send out a sandwich like this?? After now having breakfast at most of the bagel places in the Randolph/Roxbury area, I feel I'm a pretty good judge of them. Here are some pro's and cons of Roxbury Bagel: Pro's - The price! Weekday breakfast specials will save about $2. Breakfast sandwich and large coffee only $5.15. Only other place I've found these specials was Kenvil Bagel. Parking is easy, right in front (parking at Alfa can be huge problem). The staff at the register was very friendly, which is not always the case in these local bagel shops. Cons - The seating area is pretty dingy. The owner should take a trip to Brooklyn Bagel to see how it should be done. Customers also need to prepare their own coffee, which for me is always a negative in these places. As for the sandwich itself, I thought it was fine. The bagels are a little smaller than other places, but that's not always a bad thing. All in all, if you're in the area and looking for a decent sandwich, stop in here. After trying several bagel places in the area I stumbled upon Roxbury Bagels and Deli. I'm glad I did because they make a decent bagel and have a nice variety to choose from. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a friendly gentleman behind the counter. He asked what I wanted and I placed my order. I decided to try one of their breakfast specials, Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese on an everything bagel to go.( you can choose what type of bagel you want.) I got salt, pepper, and ketchup on mine. I was happy he asked. Most places that make that sandwich don't ask and you always have to tell them. I watched them make my sandwich and while I waited I walked around . The bagels in the case were a decent size and a nice variety.. They didn't skimp on any of the toppings. Everyone who came in was also treated to a friendly hello. On the other side of store was a sitting area. There were tables and chairs and lots of Roxbury High School memorabilia on the walls. In the front of the store were multiple coffee machines and creamers. I saw a bunch of homemade spreads for the bagels, and because this place is also a deli they make all kinds of sandwiches. My Taylor ham, egg n cheese bagel was delicious...Three pieces of Taylor ham , fried egg and melty cheese It was a good ratio of meat to cheese all for$2.95 plus tax. If you want it on a hard roll it was $3.20 Monday - Friday 5a-11a... My bagel was crispy on the outside and soft but not doughy on the inside. I didn't try their coffee but next time I go to the doctor and I'm in the area I will definitely stop in.. This place is very easy to find and right on Rt 10 East Roxbury. You can just pull up and park grab a sandwich and be right back on Rt 10. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. read more

Really great bagel and great service... I was surprised. They 'hollowed it out' as I asked (and didn't give me a weird for the request), I had lox cream cheese and the bagel was toasted it to crispy perfection. There are so many little variables that come into play with making a tasty bagel and this place seems to get them all lined up perfectly. Crispy shell with a light and airy interior is what makes a true Brooklyn style bagel and Roxbury Bagels really gets this just right. For comparison, the worst kind of bagel is What you might expect to find in the supermarket. You know, spongy and 'bread like', you won't find that crap here. The coffee was also excellent. As far as the customer service, the young lady behind the counter really seem to have a lot of pride in her job. A lot of times younger people especially "millennial's" had a job like that will slack off. There was definitely a lot of pride going on behind the counter. Somebody really knows how to hire at this place. I'm sure they do everything else just as well, I believe also they cater parties, I would certainly give them a try for a platter(s) in that situation as well. read more

Not my favorite spot!!! There's a new place in town....I think it's called Kenvil Bagel, my boyfriend always gets me the French Toast bagel with honey walnut cream cheese..,...ohhh it's one of the best I have had. This was a last minute decision to stop in, as we were in a bit of a rush....and with only 3 or 4 customers in front of us....it took almost 20 minutes to get out order (I got a cinnamon raisin with plain cream cheese, the boy friend got a Taylor Ham egg and cheese.....) Yeah, his egg was so over cooked it was brown, and hard and just yucky...with wayyyy too much salt and pepper and ketchup (he only likes a tiny little smoosh of ketchup, and specified this to the counter guy....) LOADED with ketchup, so his sandwich was a mess, and they promised their cinnamon raisin was fresh -- yeah, no, it was pretty stale. Only had like three bites, and let the boyfriend try a bite. He returned both of our orders, and they re made them....but I asked for a poppy bagel this time, and they gave me a THE SAME cinnamon raisin bagel!!! Wtf?! To their benefit, however, they apologized and gave us a half dozen bagels on the house.....so wasn't a total fail. Plus the coffee was semi fresh. Maybe just an off day on their part, but I am hesitant to try again....wah. read more

The owner seems to always be there and he is on top of things. The service is friendly and usually pretty quick. They have longer hours than some of their competition which is a plus. The owner is trying to do everything he can to be successful, it's nice to be able to notice the effort. The space is large and clean. They now have pizza too. Not the best pizza, but a decent pizza worth trying. The bagels are not giant, but they are good. I usually wind up getting a some kind of bagel sandwich and I'm never disappointment. If you haven't checked out this business and you live in the area, you should definitely give it a try. read more

Gave this place a try again as I was in the area. Bagel sandwich was made as requested. Food was cooked to order and they actually added extra ketchup. Waited 20 minutes for two bagels with Taylor ham, egg, and cheese. The place wasn't busy, in fact, two customers who ordered after us got their food first. When you have 15 and 16 year olds working for you, you should make sure your customers are satisfied instead of cutting pork rolls without a care in the world. The three very young workers seemed to be having a hard time, constantly unwrapping bagels and removing the content and redoing it. We were never offered an apology and if we hadn't paid before hand we would have left after 10 minutes of waiting. Not very good. Received a few ads in the mail and a few people recommended this place. Went on a Saturday around 10 to get breakfast sandwiches, but it was a mess. They have a counter and a sit down area. The young women working behind the counter were visibly flustered as they brought incorrect orders to tables and the line at the counter continued to build. When we finally got our breakfast sandwiches, I had bits of tin foil in mine. The bagel are petite and the sandwich has just one egg. Smaller portions are okay, but not with the price tag they attach to it. Took a chance, cant always win. read more

This place was legit. I would recommend the "pork roll" egg and cheese on a bagel for a little local flavor. The slices of pie were not my favorite, as they sit under the heater for a while and then just add your toppings and warm it up. read more

I enjoy the food and the atmosphere the staff and owner are friendly! However I ordered a plain bagel with egg, ham, and cheese today I don't know if it was a new employee but the cashier handled money and immediately went to cut the deli meat for my bagel without washing her hands or wearing gloves. Maybe I'm being extreme here but that is completely unsanitary and doesn't speak well of the establishment. I'd like to assume this was just a brief moment of forgetting basic food industry hygiene. The owner immediately told her to wear gloves after the matter however failed to ask her to cut new deli meat. This was usually my go to place for bagels in Roxbury I'll have to find a new one. They also forgot the cheese in my bagel and my cream cheese on the side . read more
