When I was in town I was helping my daughter do some repairs around the house. This became my go-to place for needed supplies and tools. I found the staff to be friendly, the store well laid-out and stocked, and the prices reasonable. Over 3 trips there they had what I needed each time. This is the best little hardware store! Somehow they always have what I am looking for, and their customer service there is SPOT ON! They are always willing to help you with what you are looking for, and they greet you as soon as you walk in the door. They are also a hub for UPS packages, which is really nice if you miss your package or are worried about packages getting stolen off of your porch. They also do RENTALS! Their rentals are relatively inexpensive and super convenient if you need to use something that you dont own. They also do repairs and tune-ups! You can take in your chainsaw, your lawnmower, whatever, and they will either fix it for you or tell you where you can take it if for whatever reason they cannot do it there. Joel answered the phone and walked me through a few things I could do myself to see if it would start working better. Their repairs are currently four weeks out, and he didn't want me to bring it in and wait all that time if it could be avoided. Alger Hardware is great! I go here for all the randomness that I need when I'm doing projects around the house. It has the small town hardware store feel which just can't be matched at the big box stores. I love how I can buy screws, bolts, nuts, etc. in the amount I need instead of having to buy a whole bag. Staff is very knowledgeable and have help me with finding exactly what I need and answering questions I have. I have also rented equipment and had my lawn mower worked on here. Prices are fair and the equipment/work was good quality. I will always go here first for all my home project needs. read more

Extremely happy with the customer service at Alger Hardware. Took my lawn mower in for repair, the guy happily looked at it and provided a fix on the spot!! Gave me the piece needed, showed me what was wrong with mine (always happy when I can learn a little something) and showed me how to install it and I only had to pay for the piece. Took my lawnmower here for a tune up. It has now been 3 weeks they told me 1 week to give me a quote then a week after for repairs or tuning. after two weeks I called "sorry we are busy haven't looked at it yet". At 3 weeks my wife called same story, they seem to be poorly managed. I will need to mow my lawn soon and my mower still hasn't even been looked at. I have no idea how much it will cost or how much longer it will take. It may be they are to popular. however I have shopped here they are helpful and friendly, prices seem ok. update: got my lawn mower total time 3 weeks 2 days apparently they didn't look at the area code as I do not have a home phone so they called the wrong people. Cost fifty three dollars plus twenty five dollar deposit. read more

Lowest price in town on power washer rental--for a reason. Piece of equipment quit working 5 times in the 6 hour rental period. Backfired and shot sparks out during the restarts. Could not get it restarted the 5th time. Not helpful over the phone as to possible reason. When returning it to the store, no one was authorized to make a significant adjustment to the price of rental. Total waste of time. read more
