I had an issue with my Ace Rewards. A big issue. After repeated attempts for resolution, I finally reached Aaron. It shouldn't have taken so long to get fixed but it did... and then some. In less than 24 hours, the issue was resolved and resolved far greater than my expectation. Customer service went above and beyond and those words, sadly, are rarely used these days. I've been going to this store, regularly, for decades. I am guessing that most items are less expensive elsewhere but I'm paying for stellar customer service and that's worth it. This place is way over priced. I bought something that was lined up on the shelf with the wrong price. When they rang it up, the price was double. Unbelievable. All the other stores sell items for half that. Everything is 40%-100% higher priced here. Menards, Lowes and home Depot are cheaper. At least all the other stores would honor the price that was shown on the shelf. They didn't. I will never go back here again. Some odd tht staff aren't friendly at all. I feel that they are annoyed with you being in the store. What really upsets me the most is that online it shows items that are in the store and a certain price when you go to the store they don't even carry that item. Unbelievable. This happened to at least 17 items that I saw online. How stupid is that. This place sucks! If you want to over spend go here. If not avoid this store. I am. My entire family stopped going there after yesterday's event. I don't trust them. read more

I've been laying pipe for decades now and every now and then, I find myself in need of replenishing my inventory. I prefer one inch PVC, and typically lay my pipe little by little and ever so meticulously. Now, where else in the world would I be able to cover my needs of a re up other than the Great Lakes Ace Hardware store. Nowhere. Ask any one of boys there, they'll tell you every detail about laying pipe, and the success rate of laying pipe. They've got data charts on all demographics of conduit, half inch, three quarter, hell industrial size pipe too. I will vouch any day of the year, that if your looking to substantially increase your ability to lay some thick, long, sturdy rod ducts, head no further than Great Lakes Ace Hardware. Moving into my new house, which of course comes with DIY projects, means I'm becoming quite familiar with the various hardware stores/paint suppliers around town. The staff at Rylee's ACE Hardware were helpful in getting my paint samples done quickly, while doing that they assisted me in finding the tools I needed for wallpaper removal, AND they made sure I got my rewards card. I do love a locally leaning Ace Hardware. And this one is massive! They really have a ton of stuff. I was impressed with their canning supply aisle...because of course I was. And they had lots of kitchen doo-dads in addition to tools, lawn maintenance, beaucoup tervis and all the other things. They also have a big gun shop within the store if you're in the market. You couldn't go 5 feet without someone offering assistance which was nice. No hunting for help here. And they were handing out calendars which contained a year's worth of coupons! read more

What a great local hardware store! When they advertise about providing better customer service compared to large megastores like Home Depot or Loews this is definitely one of the reasons that choosing Rylee's is more convenient. There is always a greeter at the front door who is happy to help you find or answer any questions about a project you are working on. The quality of products are also quite good and are reasonably priced. They have a fairly extensive painting and gardening section which is much appreciated. My home is undergoing chronic repair, we live in an old Victorian, so there are forever projects or updates happening in the house. Rylees always has seasonal displays up. I enjoy their robust kitchen supplies area, which also comes in handy when you are throwing a last minute party or have a random baking idea that you require certain kitchen equipment for... Overall Rylee's is well organized, has friendly well-trained staff, a convenient location, and reasonable prices -- proud to have a nice local hardware store in our neighborhood. read more

Whenever I want to feel better, I just walk into this store and my mood improves. Every single employee is so kind and sweet. They all want to help me. At every turn, a very sweet employee asks me if I need anything and are happy to walk me to an area and answer any questions. Everyone here is practically a professional handy-person. It's also just the right sized store to have everything I need, but not overwhelm me. I have a feeling that the manager is just really serious about providing great customer service. This review is only for the key making. I walked in and they had someone that would direct you to where you wanted go. Thought that was great. They told me exactly where I could find the place where they make keys. I arrived at the counter and another gentleman served me. He was very polite and very quick at making 5 keys. I decided that I wanted to go some place that would make them for me instead of me trying to use a machine and getting it wrong. I know me to well, and didn't trust myself doing it. Even if it was fool proof, I'd find a way to mess it up. Plus I would rather pay for a person to have a job than using a machine. read more

Still my all time favorite hardware store. I have been going to this store since 1984 and they will continue to be my first stop. Hard to stump the staff with my questions and projects and they always patient and helpful. Product selection usually is good and it is rare that they don't have what I need. Product quality is usually great. A bit on the pricey side but sometimes you get what you pay for and I am more often than not really pleased. read more

I really love Rylee's Ace Hardware. Sure, they have tools and supplies for home and garden projects, but they also have kitchen appliances, home goods, Christmas decorations, novelty sodas, toys, candy, etc.--so many fun things to look at! We stop in about once a month for some project or another and I'm always amazed at the things they have. They have won the Celebrated Service award in the past and it's easy to see why--there is almost always someone at the counter when you walk in asking if they can help you find anything. There are always lots of people in the store who are happy to help! I've always been able to find what I was looking for when I come to Rylee's. It's great to have this local shop nearby and we love stopping in. They do fun events throughout the year too, including giveaways, home decorating classes, workshops on basic home maintenance, and women's workshops. I highly recommend Rylee's! read more

After the market I like to stop over to Rylee's so I can shop their endless kitchen department. I will browse the aisles forever and find 17 things I didn't know I needed. I love Rylee's! I don't typically review chains, or hardware stores, but Rylee's Ace is a truly great spot. It is chock-full of nearly everything you would find at a Lowe's or Home Depot (cleaning supplies, hardware, tools, grilling and outdoor equipment, bird feeders, plumbing and electric needs) but also has fun aisles of kitchenware, including sections devoted to Corksicle, Fiesta Ware, Lodge cast-iron, YETI, Tervis, and other brands of the moment. Yesterday I went and got Comet cleaner (old school!), weird light bulbs, and a muffin tin. The people working there are super friendly and truly helpful, and an errand here always takes half the time of a trip to one of the aforementioned big-box stores. The line can be long from time to time, but it always moves fast, and the trip is still worth it. Also: They recently removed their gun store out of the back. (Apparently they just "weren't selling enough," it wasn't a crisis of conscience, but it's appreciated all the same.) read more

Love this store! It is so much more than just hardware. The kitchen department is as much fun to shop in as a 'designer' kitchen store. They have a nice selection of 'made in Michigan' gifts, Fiesta ware, kitchen gadgets, so many great things! Over the past few years, my husband has purchased a lawn mower, snow blower, leaf blower and various other lawn equipment from Rylee's. The staff is always so helpful and knowledgable. And the service department is the best! If your lawn mower needs repair there are mowers you can take out on loan. Just visited Great Lakes Ace on Michigan in Grand Rapids. had placed an online order for pick-up. order not ready four hours later, so headed to store to just buy product off the shelf and cancel online order. person in charge of online orders extremely unhelpful and extremely rude. i ended up buying item and having to trust that my pending credit card transaction for the online order would not go through. I used to prefer visiting this store when it was Riley's. not sure what happened. after this experience, I'll try my best not to return. read more

We love being able to shop online with curbside pickup while still being able to support a local business. We ordered birdseed (since these days, the birds are the only visitors we have), top soil, mulch, organic fertilizer and a spreader. Prices were comparable to the big stores. Good selection of items, clean store. I spent some time in the bug spray aisle looking for spider traps. At least two employees were in the area alongside me chatting and stocking shelves while I was perusing items and not once did they look my way or ask me if I needed any help. It was early morning too so it's not like it was super busy with customers. As one of them was walking behind me going towards some doors leading outside I could hear her ask another customer if he needed any help and she proceeded to give him her full attention. While I was able to find what I needed, i too would have appreciated a friendly "good morning" or "are you finding what you need ok?" I felt like I was invisible to them.
