They give the most upmost respectable spot spread then any other and once you establish yourself as a friend, they will definitely take care of you. I also called in on a rare gold coin, and they gave me that price when I called in looking for it, even though the price has gone up. Hi! I just visited the coin center today for the very first time. There was this lady, who immediately off the bat after barely looking at what coin booklets I had made a disappointed sound. Soon after just glancing at a few, she walked away. After, a nice gentleman came up and was actually looking through them. I appreciate how he took the time to chat a little and look through the booklets. Later when we were packing up our booklets to leave, this gentleman who I assume was security, held open the door looking at us expectantly to leave as soon as possible. My father, asked the gentleman about an item in the glass case and he was ignored. Then after my father asked about it again, he was met with a poor attitude. My experience was not good. I responded to a tv commercial saying they are looking to buy. Kinda looking to take the most and give the least. A woman offered me $13.50 For Kennedy halves that i owned since new. Beautifully toned and she could not have cared less. The Melt is over $20 per coin and she offered me $13.50. It's a free country I suppose. If your selling, Shark infested waters for sure. If your buying, things are quite a bit more than Many Silver and gold stores thoughtout the SoCal area. Don't know why they call it a coin center? ? I came in with a collection of coins, never did they give me any information on the coins!!instead this Asian woman just stared going through all my coins, while she was eating her lunch by the way! and started writing me a receipt for them, did not even tell me anything' about them. They just want take them of your hands. Even if they might be worth something. That doesn't matter! They just buy coins for their metal value ONLY! never even acknowledge me as a person who might have some sentimental connection to those coins. I just felt like a dumb as**. The lack of humanity makes you feel pressured and uneasy when you visit, as the people running this place will perceive you as someone with ill intentions. I always smiled at the employees whenever I reached the security door and waited to be buzzed in, but all I could see were their contemptuous looks. They love to speak to you with condescending tones, and they don't like dealing with colored customers unless there are other white customers around, so they have to act nice to keep up with their "professionalism." Furthermore, don't fall for their sweet talk. Their act of hospitality is all a facade. After you finish the transactions with them, they will tell you how much they appreciate your business and want you to come back. However, on the contrary, they are careless and will act like they are unfamiliar with you whatsoever whenever you revisit their shop. Beggars can't be choosers. This shop is not a great place to conduct business when you desperately need cash for a rainy day or as a novice trader. If you ever show any signs of weakness, they will lowball or straight lie to you to take advantage of you. They are aggressive and ruthless on pricing, and they would only pay you the cost of the metal content of the coins, even if they were graded. You can expect a shift in their attitude, becoming impatient and unfriendly, if you plan to engage in haggling. In summary, I don't recommend this shop unless you really need cash and are willing to accept the deficit. read more

I came here today to sell a gold coin. While that transaction went well, I figured I had them appraise my 24k gold bracelet to see how much I could sell it for if I were to sell it. When I was given the price, I was shocked how low they offered. That's when I was told it was 18k, not 24k. They used their $30k gold test X-Ray gun thing, and again it shows 17.8 or something. I found that really odd. I left and went to two other jewelry shops and they both test and confirmed its pure 24k gold. One shop using same X-ray gun and another using a different X-ray tester machine. I only have two stars because the staffs there were nice and good deal with the coin. However, BEWARE if you're trying to sell other gold pieces. read more

Had some random coins from my grandpa and wanted to know what their value is. I know nothing about coin collecting or valuation. Kevin was very straightforward and honest. I thought they were worth nothing but there was a fair amount of silver coins in there. If I could leave zero stars I would. My mom recently came in to see if her coins had any value after doing research on misprints. Instead of politely letting my mom know that they don't take coins like this, educating her on their policies and/or referring her to another place that could help her, they refused to look at what she brought, told her rudely that it was just money and she can take her coins to the bank. There's a way to treat people and politely decline service. I would not recommend their business if they don't have the patience to deal with any potential customers. My grandparents left me some jewelry when they passed. I needed some money for emergency purposes and had to find somewhere to sell my gold. Being a 19 year old, I had no knowledge of how much gold is really worth but I needed money. So I came to Alhambra coin center and put my trust in them to give me fair deal. I had a 14k yellow gold chain about 140 grams and a 24k pure gold women's bracelet that's about 60 grams. A Caucasian middle age lady helped me out. She acted very friendly in a way that she was all trying to help me out. Telling me she will put her neck out on the line to help me out and give me as much as she can. I can remember it clearly as she turned around with my items and asked the person behind her that she's gonna give me that price. A kid that's 19 year old, I believed her and really thought she was nice......... I don't know how much gold was in the year 2001 but for the 14k gold chain, she gave me $800. For the 24k pure gold bracelet, she gave me $250. At that time I didn't even know what was going on but I agreed so as on paper, it was a fair deal. That's 100% my fault. I understand businesses's gotta make money but that's totally taking advantage of customers. It's been such a long time and it took me now to write a negative review for the first time in my life. I just hope for all you people out there that don't have any knowledge of gold prices to just do some research first. They have a nice selection of coins. The only problem is, they don't know where they keep them, and don't seem interested in selling them. I've never had an experience where I actually felt like a bother before, when buying coins. The place is run by an older man who seems bothered to have to leave his office. There's a slender blond woman who only seems to respond to anything when someone brings in gold coins. The young Asian girl who tried to help me normally deals with jewelry, and didn't know where to locate the kind of coins I was looking for. The older man minimally directed her to where they are, and she still had to search for a while. I almost gave up and left. She was the Only helpful person there who seemed to care I was a customer, and she didn't know where the coins were located. Oh, and unless you are spending a lot of money, they take cash only. So bring cash, or be disappointed. I had to leave and pay a $4.00 atm fee at Bank of America, (and Another ATM fee charged to me by my bank), to get $60 out of the bank. So approximately 10% of the money I spent was just on ATM fees! I also had to park two blocks away, as their very small parking lot is always full. Be prepared for the same. The whole experience was more trouble than it was worth. If I had more time, I would have just driven over to Pasadena or another coin shop. They don't seem to care if they have customers or not. read more
