This guy Nick is either really stupid or a snake! My husband took in sterling silver goblets to exchange for cash. After several minutes of Nick telling him how brilliant, educated, smart, and honest he was he took one of the goblets to analyze it with his fancy machine he has, only to come back with the disheartening news that they were "1000% FAKE". He claimed they were silver plated brass even though they were clearly marked Sterling. Knowing they were acid tested before hand I was able to sell them as sterling as they were marked at a different location. The analysis had the base at 95% silver and the top at 90% silver. The entire transaction was excellent and Nick actually invested time into me. He could not take me the first day as I was a walk in but he took a look at what I had regardless. After our meeting I decided to try another business down the street and this interaction was a disaster. They did not greet me at the door and met my interest of selling gold with zero customer service. Once I presented my pieces they immediately doubted the karat due to its country of origin. They tested my pieces using an acid which I didn't appreciate and actually tarnished the piece - they told me my piece was 22k not 24k which I know from my research was wrong, as my piece bends to the touch and the clasp is actually intended to bend open. Needless to say, Nick and I made an appointment for the next day and our business was so smooth, informative, and authentic. My in-laws house burned down during the recent Eaton Fire. My Father in law had a collection of Silver bars in various once's, silver coins and a coin collection. Quite simply ... Nick (owner, jewelry designer) is amazing! This was my first time selling jewelry .... much of it broken, old, handed-down or just not my style anymore. I had an artisan silver ring that I thought a friend of mine would love so I pulled it from the for sale pile. Nick loved it, said "don't sell that," noticed it was bent and polished and fixed it for free. That was within the first 10 minutes of meeting him. At the end, I decided to keep my grandmother's wedding band and asked if it would be easy to make it smaller to fit my pinkie. Although he usually doesn't do things "as you wait," he made and exception. And then didn't charge a penny for it, even though one of the diamonds fell out during the cleaning. A+++ Service. You can get a general idea of how much they will buy your gold for by using the calculator on their site. It has live prices of gold, super easy to use, just type in kind of gold and weight (I used my kitchen scale) and subtract any diamonds or stones (there is a diamond calculator as well, that gives you an estimate of how much the diamonds weigh). I ended up getting a little more than expected because I figured I wouldn't get anything for the diamonds in my jewelry (they were TINY pave) but they bought them for a reasonable amount, I was surprised. The location is clean, beautiful, and safe (you have to buzz in because the door is locked). I'm not even a fan of diamonds and bling (hence why I was selling my jewelry) I'm more of a crystals, and turquoise kind of gal, but I was definitely charmed by some of the pieces in the store. ;) Nick helped me out and he was awesome, he is very knowledgeable, answers questions, friendly, AND I found out he is a Jewelry Craftsmen as well. I saw some of the pieces he had made and they were gorgeous, detailed, and unique. He also said they have more of the unique pieces in the back, and do custom jewelry as well, so just ask if you don't see what you are looking for in the cases. I reviewed the L.A. Branch but I visited this branch. Pasadena. Visited 11/11. They're the only ones that are open later, and its totally safe. Until 7p but recommended. THey give you 70% of what ur gold is worth, and Nick and staff are super friendly. He even recommended to us a japanese place to eat since we made the trip to Pasadena. I would def go back again. I'm giving 5 stars because my experience overall was great. I brought in some gold pieces that I no longer had any use for, and sold them. The best part of the transaction was that they weren't pushy and were very friendly. I used to work with jewelers, but not in the gold business, so I was a definitely going in blind. I found 1 hour street parking on El Molino, and was in and out in 30-45 minutes. The security here is great too, you have to be buzzed in. Again, the people were very friendly, and answered all of my questions. As a general rule, I typically do not trust jewelers...in many ways I still don't. I don't like it when people try to sell things to me, and they didn't do that. Would I go back again? Sure! The jewelers from Downtown should take notes from this place. read more
