Small world! This is my favorite Mexican food joint in Payson hands down. When I was eating there today I took a good look at their logo and felt like it looked kinda familiar in a nostalgic way.... So I did some digging. Turns out, this is the same chain that got its start in my California hometown! I grew up with Alibertos! Totally makes sense why I choose this place above all others in town. Tastes just like home. If you're from SoCal and need your street taco fix, Alibertos has your back. 10/10 no notes, I LOVE this place. Authentic thick and flavorful salsas, perfectly cooked carnitas, proper corn tortillas doubled up to support the toppings Just the best. This isn't your typical Sonoran desert or Tex-Mex Mexican food. This is definitely a taste of that Baja-style Mexican food found close to the TJ border - this chain literally got its start in San Diego California - and I'm not surprised they're still my favorite all these years and miles later. I never leave bad reviews, but i have to inform the public on this one Came here Jume 6th, 2026 at 1045 am. Between taking orders at the counter, the employee was using the mop bucket. No gloves and no washing hands between. The employee also likes to hand you your soda cup buy inserting her hand in the inside of the cup, right after mopping. There are other food code. Violations clearly visible but am leaving it up to the state inspector to do his job. The employee seemed fine touching cups on the inside, food and food trays and cleaning supplies simultaneously with no care. I am sure her food handlers card is up to date. I did try to inform her politely, but she waved her hand at me like she was batting away a fly. Very professional. A walking health code violation works the front counter. Beware. read more

Driving back from Show Low and we were craving comida Mexicana something crazy. I hand-picked Aliberto's based on the reviews on Yelp. Service was great. Food delivery very quick. My Arizona burrito? Not as great as I wanted it to be. It's my own fault I suppose - the meat to filler ratio wasn't fantastic, but my biggest gripe was the very fatty meat - almost gristle in places. I was disappointed. But you know, it won't deter future visits in pass throughs, and will definitely look to more regular menu choices read more

Meeeeh it's okay. Being from San Diego, some iteration of the Roberto's Taco Shops are everywhere. Some are better than others and a few are quite good. This one is just okay, the crane asada was dry and grisly, so I really was not impressed at all. Usually the Roberto's places are good for carme asada and rolled tacos. read more

We ordered delivery from there and when the food arrived, the order was all wrong. We called them back to see if they would make it right and they wouldn't. They placated me with "we'll call doordash and have them deliver it to you right away." but the delivery never came so they just straight up lied to me. In the end they stole over 20$ from us. read more

I've eaten here and the food is good. Best in town? Not in my opinion... definitely not worth the hassle required to be a customer here. They also ran a faux feel good marketing campaign earlier this fall, offering free breakfast burritos to PUSD teachers (initially, was all PUSD employees but they changed it mid morning to only teachers). Seems nice except redemption had to be done in person & was only valid during school hours. My most recent interaction was attempting to purchase gift cards. They have a minimum for a gift card purchase. It makes no sense... it's like they don't want your business. At this point, I'll be over at Alfonso's. read more

Pam, and the staff at Alibertos', provided excellent Customer Service when I thought I might have left my CC at their restaurant ...they searched their cctv, and gave a follow up call to say they were still searching. They were so glad when I called to tell them the CC had been located. Also, having lived in Central America for a decade, I can honestly say their Shrimp Burrito is The Best I have ever had! They have so many food options. We got the carne asada fries meal and the 2 burritos (pollo asado and carne asada). Everything was so delicious and the portions are huge!! Don't forget to try the salsa bar...Various levels of spicy and all good!! The service was great too...Very friendly, personable, and fast. The dining area was clean and spacious. Also side note, the bathrooms were very clean too. Highly recommend stopping by...and we will be returning bc we heard the breakfast burritos are on point!! read more

We are here visiting our daughter and she said we had to try Alibertos. We had the #7 combo of 5 rolled tacos with rice and beans and a drink for $12.95. The flavor was great. The beans had good seasoning and texture (not soupy) and the rice was cooked with the right amount of moisture. The tacos tasted really good and there was a good amount of guacamole on each one. You're door dash service sucks. I couldn't even order 2 cokes because all it offered was alcoholic beverages. The staff couldn't even talk to me about it so, I had to have my door dasher get the non alcoholic beverages I wanted and paid for that separately. Stopped for some breakfast burritos after a night in the woods. They were very hearty and filling. Perfect for the ride back home. Salsa bar was stocked with all sorts of salsa along with carrots and jalapeños. We will stop again on our way through Payson. read more

This has become my go-to dinner destination when I'm in Payson, and I don't think I've been disappointed by anything I've had - including burritos, chimichangas and their quesabirrias. Carne Asada is tasty, carnitas the same though in a burrito it's more than a little drippy by the time you get to the end. The shredded beef that they use as their normal beef in burritos and chimis also doesn't disappoint. The quesabirrias are very good and could probably be a fine n meal for 2 all by themselves, but warning: they are not neat to eat. Now reading through that I think I'll go try something with chicken instead. Note: this is a location in a small multi state chain, so you may find them elsewhere as well. read more

This is not Filiberto's! I have eaten here three times and got #26 all three times because it was so delicious! Today I also had a tamale in red sauce and it was amazing! The staff is super friendly. Needed to get some lunch after spending some time hiking in the woods so hit the Yelp app to look around and found Alibertos, and you really can never go wrong with tacos right? Alibertos in the same parking lot as Safeway, there are few tables outside as well as inside, its casual and what I was looking for since sometimes I get dirty while hiking lol. After checking out the menu I went with the 5 street taco plate. They were carne asada tacos with meat, onions, cilantro and guacamole. I grabbed some salsa at the salsa bar and dolled them up with some heat and made history out of them. My mix burrito was good, but nothing irks me more than a restaurant that lists some of the ingredients in their food, but not all. The description said, shredded beef, beans, and cheese. Their food is fresh, has great flavor, and the burritos are huge with plenty of meat. The employee that helped us was super nice and friendly. When we got home and opened the bag, we noticed they gave us 2 free sides of sour cream and guacamole. The green salsa is sooooo good, they gave us 6 sides of it and we used it for other food until it was gone. I'd buy a jar of it if I could, it was that good. We also tried the veggie burrito and it was one of the most delicious no meat/no dairy burritos I've ever had. Wide variety of menu options and they gladly accommodate requests (I wanted my tacos without tortillas, just on a plate and it was no problem). Worst food has ever eaten. My husband is Hispanic and know what Mexican food should look like. Alibertos does not have Mexican food. We don't even want to feed it to the dog. Afraid the dog would die. My husband spent an hour trying to get what he ordered, camarones de ranchero. You would have to shoot and drag my body back before I will ever go there again. As far as flavor goes: I say their red salsa was the best part of my burrito. They have a lighter salsa but it doesnr pack as much oomf as the darker colored salsa does. Guacamole was liquid consistency which I am not a fan of. Tortillas have a dry consistency which makes me sad. Size of the Super Burrito exceeded expectations. Was able to split with my husband and baby got to have a piece too. Carne asada was not FULL of flavor. But appreciated the diced meat. Some places do not do a great job with chopping. Coming from Richmond/San Pablo California.... This would not be a place I would return to. But considering the fact that this town is tiny and not full of many options..? I will return for my craving. Horchata was the highlight of this place (on the sweeter side) but authentic nonetheless. read more
