Lovely café with super chill servers. We entered standing awkwardly by the entrance because it was busy, but they made us feel acknowledged right away, which was nice. Scott (if I remember his name correctly) took our drink orders quickly and answered all our questions. We've been eating here for many years when we come up to Payson and we've never had a bad meal. The hamburgers are absolutely crazy good no matter how you order them, and the carrot cake is to die for. We stopped in on our way in from Albuquerque today and arrived late because of traffic. Unbeknownst to us, they closed at four on Sundays and we walked through the door at 4:01. They seated us, took our order fed us and apologize for the plates because everything was being put away. We were served the typically delicious meal that Mackey's is known for and taken care of, even though they were actually closed. When the check came, we were told there was no rush, but of course we hurried because these nice people deserve to get home on time! read more

While visiting friends in Payson we tried Macky's Grill (our 1st time) it was wonderful. Our server Delaney was perfectly pleasant. She knew her menu & truly did a great job making sure our experience was enjoyable. We arrived at dinner time so it was kinda busy & the atmosphere was quiet making table conversations easy without yelling. The decor was western style with cute holiday window paintings throughout. Our meals were all delicious. Hubby had the ribeye (cooked to a perfect medium rare with delicious seasoning/flavor) with fries, I ordered the half sandwich (turkey) & soup (creamy chicken with peppers-I forgot what it was called but it was delicious) Ed had the chicken wings (spicy deliciousness) & Mary had the Reuben with potato salad (tasty deliciousness) Truly everything was perfect & delicious. It was good -- not great, but good. The food was decent and the place itself is really clean. It was such a beautiful day that we sat outside, but both the indoor and outdoor seating areas are very nice. The only real downside was the service at the end. We sat for quite a while waiting for our bill, and I finally had to walk up to the front to ask for it. And then... the weirdest part of the whole visit: one of the employees' boyfriends showed up with her dog. They stood right out front, the dog went to the bathroom right next to a parked car, and they just walked off without picking it up. Stopped here on a bus tour. Great place with lots of choices on a large menu. I had the Avocado BLT with a bowl of chile as my side. My wife ate the veggie wrap. All our food was great. First, I loved that Macky's had a dog-friendly patio! That was great so my pup could join us for lunch. It was the Saturday, two days before Labor Day and it was SO busy. We opted to sit at a large table on the patio that was partially covered by an umbrella, but it was hot. The restaurant was packed! It did take a while to get service, but our waitress apologized, and she was as attentive as she could be. I had a buffalo chicken wrap and a side of cottage cheese. It was good! The sauce to insides ratio was good, it was dry or tough. It was yummy and they had a pretty large menu and decent offerings! We recently stopped here again on our way to Greer. They are dog friendly, which we love and the reason we choose to have lunch here. They will bring water for the pups and they are more than accommodating in making a burger patty or chicken breast with no seasoning for the dogs! Today we ordered plain burger patties, one came and we had to wait for the second one but no worries!!! I decided this time around to go with a salad and chose the Crispy Farmhouse Chicken Salad with Ranch Dressing. The salad was fresh and crispy and the chicken strips were perfectly fried with a light breaded coating. I love their ranch dressing; fresh and tangy! Wife had the Macy's Burger with American cheese and loads of pickles! I had a bite and it was delicious! Their fries are so good too, with just the right amount of seasoning and she had asked for them crispy and they were! We both had ice tea as well. When we got the bill I noticed that they only charged us for one burger patty and when I mentioned it, our server (Stevie) said no worries...it was on them because the kitchen initially only made one when two were ordered. This place won me over by its home-y feel and welcoming crew, not to mention the food was phenomenal. Every single crew member greeted me with warmth and friendliness, like I was family, and remained consistent to every fellow customer I witnessed coming in. Probably my favorite burger I've ever had, and I do not say that lightly. I was hesitant to try this place because I am not a big "country food" gal, but this place is just different. We were in Payson at lunchtime and stopped in. I had the chicken pesto sandwich with potato salad, husband had the western burger with a side of cottage cheese. Both of us were unable to finish our meals. Our server Stevie was friendly and attentive without hovering. Food was excellent, chicken tender and flavorful. Our server was Jocelyn, she is such a sweetheart. She was speaking to an elderly gentleman and he mentioned he had been married to his wife for 57 years, he is a widower now. I am not very picky with that but if you like medium rare burgers- I would specify that because it came out well done. The cowboy melt was really delicious. We drove up from Queen Creek, Arizona to check out Payson and the surrounding area. We found Macky's on yelp and it looked just like what we were looking for. They have a nice menu with quite a few burgers and sandwiches along with some salads. My husband got the Mackie burger with fries abd I chose the Arizona Caprese salad so we could split the food. The burger was delicious and the meat very flavorful. I like that they grill the buns. We asked for the fries to be crispy and they were. They give you enough french fries for a group of people! Next time, we will ask for half the fries. The salad is very nice and has lots of good flavors. The pico de gallo has a slight kick so I might leave that out next time since I'm a wimp. But it does add a nice additional flavor as does the pesto. We will definitely come back here again the next time we are in Payson. read more

Was heading back to the Valley through Payson Tuesday after a long fishing trip up north in the White Mountains and stopped for some food. Macky's was recommended so we hit it up before leaving the pines. This is a sit down and order type place. The place was clean and everyone had a smile. We were greeted quickly and given a booth. The service was super friendly and the staff were amazing. Food came out hot and quickly. I got the Macky's Burger and it was really good!! The meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly as I ordered it. Her salad came w/ a generous piece of salmon AND two big pieces of Texas Toast. I ordered the Chili & Cornbread. Chili had a good flavor w/ ample pieces of meat, beans, onions in a tomato base. The only thing I didn't like about it? It had CELERY. Eek - not a good idea, even if it's cooked. So yes, I picked all the celery out! I loved the homemade cornbread - delicious & moist w/ a dash of sugar in it. Huge debate in the South (where I grew up) about whether sugar belongs in cornbread or not. Hardcore Southerners who make it in a skillet on top of stove say absolutely not. I bake mine in a pan in the oven & say "hells yeah!" Appreciate the real butter that cornbread came with. Stopped here on our way thru Payson while on a camping trip. We were pulling our trailer and had our dogs so needed a place to accommodate parking and dog friendly. Macky's was a good choice for that. The patio was good size and very nice. Service was very good. We ordered the cheese curds to share. A burger and the tilapia. The cheese curds were good but swimming in grease. The burger was pretty good, nothing special. The fish was lacking much flavor and a bit on the mushy side. Really great stop for lunch as we traveled from Phoenix to Woods Canyon Lake. We had our pooch with us and this place advertised as "dog friendly" - and their patio definitely is. Service was on us as soon as we sat down with a tray full of water for all of us and a nice water bowl for our dog. Food was excellent. I had the Angus burger with pastrami and fries. Loved both the burger and the crispy fries. My wife split the turkey avocado Supreme sandwich with sweet potato tots with my daughter. First time visiting Macky's. This place has a huge parking lot and is adjacent to the movie theatre. Primarily a burger place but the menu has other choices, but the burgers are their specialty! Everyone in our groups got burgers and not one person was disappointed. Even though everyone ordered their own burger, I think I would have actually done better sharing one. We decided to eat lunch here and it was the best choice we made. We were sat almost immediately and ordered some waters and the new Loaded Tater Kegs. It took us awhile to decide what to eat and once we did the tots came out. Those things were HUGE we got 6 tots and it came with ranch dipping sauce and one baby carrot and one celery stick. We ordered the Mega Ooey Gooey burger, Curly Joe Burger, and just a plain ole hamburger. They came with a massive amount of fries (which were delicious) and we also ordered a side of cornbread. The cornbread came with a sweet honey butter and ong, it was absolutely delicious! I had the Mega Ooey Gooey, it was really good, a little too big for me so I had to get a to-go box, but the other two people ate all of theirs and we all agreed it was delicious. I totally understand why they keep winning awards. We wanted to try their carrot cake, but we were way too stuffed... next time! The ambiance was nice it was kinda like a diner vibe but western flair, we really loved the ambiance of the place. The bathrooms were nice, there were two stalls with floor to ceiling doors (in the woman's bathroom) and one sink. They were clean and had toilet paper so that's a plus.
