Wanted to try some broasted chicken so I made the drive to Alibi Bar & Grill. I was warmly greeted by Nathan, one of the bartenders on duty. I ordered an Old Fashioned to start while I looked over their menu. I did order the Chicken along with JoJo potatoes. The alibi is a lively local establishment with a lot of regulars. There was an NFL game in progress and the patrons were taking advantage of their multiple TVs. The chicken dinner arrived and I snacked on the jojos while waiting for the chicken to cool down a bit. Once I did bit into the chicken it was extremely tasty. The skin was crisp and the meat was moist and tender. I enjoyed the meal. This was a nice diversion from my regular bar & grill. We always eat here on Sunday mornings after church and sometimes one or two times during the week. It our place to go because of the staff, the atmosphere and the prices. At this point the staff knows us and sometimes has our drinks out before we even sit down. It is like family and we share good and bad times and a hug or two when needed. We even go down once a week to play games and reconnect after a busy week. When we have company in town this is our go to place for a meal. They are very accommodating in making changes to our food orders with additions or sometimes making something that is not on the menu. The prices are amazing and the food most of the time is excellent. There has been a time or two it has been cold but that is when they are exceptionally busy. The only reason I did not give them a 5 star is that recently there have been a lot of staff changes. Several of our favorite servers left because of the management. This has changed the whole environment, and it is has lost some of the family feeling. We still go with hopes that things will go back to normal but one of the new staff has already left. If management reads this, please realize that the staff is what makes the restaurant and keeps people coming back. read more

We have been going to the Alibi every Saturday for the last 6 to 9 months for prime rib, spending $70 to $90 each time. Most of the time the prime rib is good but other times not so much. The manager and one of the waitress's left a couple of months ago and they were great. The 2 waitress's working now could use some training on customer service...the last 2 times we have been there both of the main waitress' were rude and non attentive to requests. Won't respond to "thank you" and hardly ever smiles. We have decided to stop going there. read more

Very good food and specials. Saturday night is prime rib day after five and it great for the price. Service is fast and friendly and the atmosphere and customers are happy and fun. Mike has let it go downhill fast. A 4th server has quit in roughly 6 weeks. Tonight there was 1 server and 1 cook. The cook was actually serving plates to try to help the server, and 3 regular patrons were bussing tables. Check your cameras, Mike. Not 1 of his others servers were either called to help or refused to come in. Wouldn't the owners (Mike and Lynn) come help? Nope. According to one person, the 2 employees were told to tough it out. The Lottery pulled the plug on them over a year ago for not reporting what should have been reported and shut the lottery down. And now his best evening servers are fed up with him and quitting. What once was a great place to go has died. But you can go there during the day and see the owners drinking with their "friends." It's no longer a place to go. A great place has been turned into a last resort when the day servers leave. Taffer would have a field day with them and it would be humiliating. It's not just the employees who have been let down, it's also the faithful regulars who are are tired of it. read more

The first time I went I had their broasted chicken and it was phenomenal. It was so moist and juicy. I had been craving it. This time however, it was a completely different experience. It was extremely overcooked and when I bit into the edges, I thought for sure I would break a tooth. Also my son's bacon cheeseburger was not good at all and was served with floppy undercooked fries. My hubby had the cod with onion rings and he said his food was good, albeit the cod pieces are thin and small. As for service, the guy who took our to-go order was fine. But when my hubby tried taking a picture of their menu for me because the only menu I could find online were from more than three years ago, he questioned him as if he was doing something wrong and told him the menu was somewhere online. A customer shouldn't have to look online for a half an hour to find a menu and even then it was an old one that someone took a picture of. Your menu should be easily available for customers. But even more important, you should treat your customers better. What was the big deal of him taking a picture of the menu? So between the food and the service, we don't plan on being back anytime soon. There are much better places in Salem to get food. But if you insist on eating here and are willing to take a chance, try the broasted chicken. It truly was phenomenal the first time I had it. And if it wasn't for the service, I would have given them another chance. The ambiance is good for a bar that serves food and they have a nice outdoor patio with tables. read more

The atmosphere here is instantly calming. Extremely intuitive bartenders do a great job letting the introverts exist quietly while engaging actively with the more social types. The food is good value (I recommend the clam strips!) and the drinks are generously poured with precision. If slots are your thing, the video lottery terminals are mostly of the newer models, and extremely well maintained. The whole (rather large) place is extremely clean, and has a strangely nostalgic scent about it. $20.50 buys a meal large enough to share and 2 drinks. Plenty of specials and a broad menu mean you can keep coming back without getting bored. Highly recommend alibi. read more

Newish to West Salem and stopped in fr a couple of beers. Nice clean place plenty tables, also a couple pool tables and a Golden Tee game. Sat at the bar and was served immediatlly..got the fantastic micro beer and burger for $6.95.than another RPM for $4. Great prices the burger took a while but it looked like they had a huge table of a dozen folks just ordered before me. Came here for the first time because I read a review that stated they have the best wings in salem. They definitely have great wings - I would suggest getting the sauce on the side so the wings stay crispy. The service is hit or miss but generally good. Their food is alright, my fave off the whole menu is the hush puppies to be honest. The soups tend to be salty and other fried foods greasy and not so crispy. Service is alright but can use some work last time I was picking up food as a regular at this point for somebody else the dude at the bar handing me my meal tried to keep the dollar change in hand and it wasn't even mine to give which resulted in an awkward stare down until he gave me the buck back and I was on my way..weird. Not the way you make tips. My friends girlfriend owns this place and my friends always calling to complain about the quality of food time and time again but they have a close relationship so who knows. We've slowly started adding the Alibi into our regular rotation of local places. The food is always hot and tasty, the prime rib dip and the club are my go to orders. Usually with "munchers", jalapeno cheese tots as the side. I get a side salad as well, and have 2 meals. The hubs likes their western burger and regular tots. Drinks are well poured, and the patio is great in warmer weather. Sunday breakfast and Bloody's hit the spot for Sunday Football. Would recommend trying them read more

I know servers have a tough gig, I try not to be too hard on them, but seriously you guys just gotta check on people every so often. I've gotten good service here before but it's a game of chance hoping you'll get a good server and not a terrible one. We were left alone for a very long time, never checked on, the same story in the other reviews. Owners if you're reading this, have your servers check on the people at the tables to ask if they need anything every once in a while. Super basic. I recently moved here from Nashville TN . So this it not a bad spot...it's close to my apartment and I can come here for a drink (reasonably priced). I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg on top. It was good, not amazing or disgusting but good. If you're looking for a chill spot to enjoy food and drinks this is a good place. Every time I have been to the Alibi I witness over-serving of alcohol to customers. I have seen people stumbling out of the bar and getting into their cars. Customers picking fights at the bar, bartenders continuing to serve them as they clearly appear to be intoxicated. read more

Went there last night with a group of friends. What decent sized bar has only three people (that I could tell) working on a Friday night? There were probably 100+ people there and it appeared no one was getting served in any semblance of a timely manner. Our service was just bad, not only did it take 20 minutes to even order, but another 45 minutes to get food and it came out backwards, The people who ordered first got there stuff 10 minutes AFTER the last person to order got their food. The food was decent, if basic, Nothing that should have taken that long to get. It is a nice, clean bar, with a good atmosphere (the music was a tad loud to allow for conversations), I just wish the service matched. I RARELY give less than 20% tip, but felt like I had no choice this time, The 10% I did give was probably too much... :( Probably won't go back unless I hear it gets better... read more

I have been coming here for 15 years and always enjoyed great service and good bar food. Tonight was a real disappointed. When I first walked in I was greated by a smiling young man who's service was as good as always. He promptly brought my menu and took my order of a beer and appetizer. I received my order in a timely manner and my server answered my question about a menu item. From that point on my experience went bad. After a half hour or so, I never saw my server again. I finished my appetizer and beer and waited at least 20 minutes for server to come take my order for dinner. By the time he checked back with me I was so frustrated I just asked for my check. The only reason for 2 stars on this review is because appetizer was good. Otherwise I would only give 1 star because of the poor service. read more
