    Club sandwich and onion rings.
    Lori R.

We went here with a group of old friends to catch up since we haven't seen them in many years and they live near by and have not tried this place. When we walked in we did notice that the sign on the door did say no one under 21 so immediately we knew it was a bar. The were a few patrons at the bar and we were greeted by the bartender with a warm welcome and given menus the she promptly told us all the items that they were out of and what was the special of the day. My husband had the Chili burger and I thought he was going to lick his plate, it was served open faced with a large portion of chili on top with cheese and he opted for no onions and it was served with a side of fries. I shared a club sandwich with onion rings with my friend, it was a usual club sandwich but was really tasty and not skimpy, and the onion rings were especially tasty. One of our other guests had the special of pastrami on rye and fries which he said was very good and looked to be a good size sandwich. The Mountain Dew I ordered had a funky taste and they were out of Dr Pepper I thought that was strange but don't miss this great spot when passing through.

The burgers are pretty good. This place is a small town dive bar. I am sure the locals love it.

The space was huge - way bigger than expected. I was bummed there was only one IPA and the keg blew on my order. She replaced it with a hazy IPA which I didn't love, but ordered anyway because I felt awkward standing up there. The way the bar is arranged isn't great - the bartender was positioned to stand right in front of the beer list, so I had to move around to see. I felt uncomfortable.

But when I heard Matt Spenner was going to be the brew master, excitement crept in. Because if anyone should be able to make good beer, it would be a Spenner. (This is generations of research manifesting itself here, folks). I was not disappointed. To start with, they have some funky names: Citra Lee Ale (named after Matt's wife Crystal, who's a brew mistress (is that even a term?) with Matt), Eukanot Do That on Television IPA (pretty awesome name considering the stuff on TV nowadays), and my favorite to drink, the Schmokin Porter. Their selection is limited, but they have guest beers (and wines), and they'll be coming up with new stuff so stay tuned. The place is open and airy and comfortable. No TVs or one arm bandits here, so you're gonna have to socialize, which is a good thing in my book. Add a dose of country music in the background, and voila, you're soaking in a cool vibe and sucking down some yummy suds. If you want grub, there's a food truck around when you need it. Plus, with the bay doors open, it's like you're chillin' in your bud's new backyard brewery, which is uber cool.

They are just that committed to taking care of people, and it shows. The negative reviews here are hilarious! You can walk in wearing a tuxedo if you want to (if you do, definitely lead with that in your review because it definitely helps... uhhhh... set "context"). They'll still make you a great burger, but don't blame the locals if you feel out of place, or it drips yummy deliciousness on your Armani, or you had to wait a few minutes before they realized you don't know how to respect the busy staff of one enough to place your order at the bar if you're in a hurry. I think they have a staff of 30 or so, a Tesla Supercharger, and your "The Metropolitan" cocktail waiting at Red Robin back in town if you're into that sort of thing. If you're expecting heat lamp fast-food or a tour of the wine cellar, you might... ...you know what, fuck it, this review is getting way too long, you already got the idea, and I'd rather be at the Red Barn.

There are not a lot of other dining options in the area, so Fireside is a pretty easy choice. The food is just OK. Definitely stuff that is mass-produced and heated on-site. Prices are mercifully low, so one doesn't feel as though they've been ripped off. There is a big selection of non-alcoholic beverages, which I appreciated. The real standout here was the friendliness of the staff. Everybody I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. There was a band playing during my visit, and they seemed to be as "bar band" as bar bands get. I was the only person who applauded after each song, which was weird to me. I'd have hoped that staff, at least, would have applauded as well.

In the last couple of visits, though, it's different. My past history here prevents me from giving it a 2-star review. I know there has been a management change, and it shows. Some of my favorite staff have departed, seeking greener pastures. The reason for this review now is my most recent purchase ... a $17 glass of Pudding River Pinot Gris. When I found out the price as I cashed out, I felt robbed. I can drive less than 9 miles away and buy a whole bottle for $25. My previous glass of wine that evening was an $8 chardonnay from another local winery. I figured the Pinot Gris couldn't be much more than the Chard, especially one from Pudding River, which I've personally visited so I know their bottle prices. So, before you buy anything at the Fireside Lounge, ask the price. Don't be surprised (aka robbed) as I was.

The owners, Kyla and Mac, have left no stone unturned when it came to detail. The tap lines are clean and insulated, the layout is cool (with an upstairs for console games), and the overall game selection is very good, especially for vintage games. There's even a room devoted to pinball and an outside area, both covered and open. The Big Buck Hunter shooting game is one of my addictions. I have the high score at Game On for Elk Adventure (as of this writing). Mac has the guns calibrated regularly for accuracy. And in a shooting game, that is paramount to a fun time and a reason for my success. It's also rare for a bar to take the time to do maintain properly-calibrated equipment for this particular game. Game On has beer and cider on tap, wine, and a nice selection of liquor and some great cocktails. In fact, the Huckleberry Margarita (Kyla's personal recipe) is stellar (although I must confess that me and tequila don't play well together, so I substitute vodka). I'll be returning there soon to see if I can get a new high score on Big Buck Hunter; there is an impending upgrade, which includes Caribou that I have to try. Plus, those Huckleberry Margarita's are calling my name.
