A bit more detail: Best dental experience I've had. What warm & lovely people. They felt more like new friends I wanted to get to know than new medical providers. If you are concerned about PPE & clean air, this is a good fit (with one caveat, explained below, related to insurance). I'm medically vulnerable learned about them in a group others practicing a higher level of covid competence. The practice has a one patient policy, so I was the only patient in office. They leave time between patients to filter air before the next person arrives. Once inside, I was offered a brief but thoughtful tour. They both wore PPE, including n95's (3M Aura) + surgical masks over the n95, a face shield, gown, & gloves as needed. The office was shiny, spotless. The actual treatment room had a HEPA filter immediately next to the patient chair. I think Lelah said that they have other HEPA's in the office. This practice is the only medical or dental practice I've been to that considers past medical trauma, fear of dental work, & how to intentionally engage the nervous system so that the experience is less stressful. I don't really have a problem w/ dental work, but the attention to keeping stress down was really great for other concerns I had. As an OT with an interest in mental health and sensory processing, I was impressed. (A few examples: 1) a weighted blanket, 2) Lelah tapped my arm inviting me to keep my attention on the tapping sensation as the needle was placed for anesthesia...as an OT with sensory training, I considered what was happening in the nervous system with this & was delighted that they'd even consider it, 3) monitor to watch Netflix which I didn't use but was available, 4) just an overall presence of warmth, caring, kindness, & undivided attention...which makes a big difference to the nervous system.) As someone who is medically fragile and has been really harmed by the covid pandemic (and the lack of public response to it), I've felt unsafe seeing many of my providers. Most just don't seem to be keeping up to date with the silent damage even a super mild covid infection can and has done to many of us. Dr. Samsavar & Lelah were aware that our community has experienced this & offered a space that felt very safe for me, & in the process, I received a better oral health edu than I have in the past. Having Lelah, a pharmacist, was a notable bonus. When businesses are a family affair, it seems quite natural that they're run w/ more heart and this was apparent. And, with her pharmacy background, she could easily answer questions about my meds impact on oral health. In terms of physical accessibility, the building was almost immediately off the highway and has its own lot with very easy parking. I walked up a small hill with a fairly short distance to get to the door of their building, but I'm almost 100% that I saw elevators in the parking area that can assist someone who needs to avoid that hill. The walk from the building door to their office was short as well, at least from where I entered (less than a 30s walk). The one caveat I have is both a pro and a con, depending on each persons life circumstances. They are a "pay out-of-pocket" provider and are not in-network as contracted with insurance. They will, however, send your claim in for partial reimbursement of eligible expenses directly to you, after you pay for their services in full. (Call your insurance first, as different policies will allow for varying reimbursement levels of eligible expenses.) The reality is, if they were contracted to be in-network, they would have an insurance company dictating to them how they can practice & likely have much lower reimbursement which wouldn't allow them to offer such attentive and compassionate care. So, while I did end up paying quite a bit more than I would have had I gone in-network, I had a far more positive experience. An increasing number of providers are heading this way as insurance becomes more impossible to work with, frequently putting providers in painful ethical dilemmas about how they treat their clients/patients, wasting non-reimbursed hours with their errors & endless phone trees that loop in circles, & a whole slew of other unnecessary complexities. We have in our own business for the same reasons. This approach isn't the right fit for everyone, but it's an option that allows for far more personalized and attentive care that is quite opposite from the all too frequent "assembly line" kind of care we often get as we're rushed in and out with a frenzied provider. I'm really not surprised at all by the stellar reviews here. Bravo Dr. Samasavar and Lelah. Thank you both for looking after your patients so compassionately and for your good, kind hearts. He is a perfectionist, which is a highly desirable quality in any medical professional I see! 3) He will not break the bank. His charges are reasonable and he will attempt to do his work in a cost-effective (but excellent) manner. 4) He is obsessive. My first visit was an hour an a half, and most of the time was spent with him inspecting my teeth in detail (see #2) 5) Staff are all incredibly personable, helpful, and competent. Most of them have worked with him for many years, which is also telling. 6) His hygienist, Deb, is equally thorough, compulsive, and personable. You will never have a dental cleaning that is as deep and extensive, which is wonderful because it optimally prevents gum and tooth disease. The hygienist Anna was rough when she took photos of my teeth and performed the cleaning. When I made "ouch" sounds and clearly signaled her that she had hurt my gum, she didn't even apologize or try to be more careful. Then the hygienist told me that I had more than 10 cavities even before the dentist showed up to look at my X ray. I was surprised because I have not had any cavities for over 10 years and during this time I have seen 3 different dentists. When the dentist came, Anna told him I had 10 cavities and he confirmed it. I questioned how could I develop 10 cavities within a year since my last exam. He explained the X ray can detect more cavities than what we can see with bare eyes, but he didn't show me where the 10 cavities were on the X ray. At the end of my visit, the hygienist Anna printed me a "treatment plan" of 5 appointments for fillings, and $1,040 out of pocket after insurance payment. I didn't trust this dentistry and decided to switch. I visited a dentist office in Edmonds today and had an exam and cleaning. The dentist office received my last X ray image from Bright 32 and took additional x ray images. They reviewed both with me and said I had very healthy teeth. The hygienist said I do a good job cleaning my teeth and my dental clean appointment was short and easy. I found the "Treatment Plan Estimate" from Bright 32 last year and I wonder how much money they made from patients and insurance companies when no treatment was needed. Stay away!

I did not feel the cleaning I got here was done very well, and a follow up six months later seemed to confirm that, because the second hygienist felt that there was tartar that was old that should have been removed previously. The hygienist here outlined an extensive treatment plan without explaining anything at all about what was actually wrong. I had gone for what I expected to be a routine appointment with no symptoms. I asked a lot of questions and got better information, but they should have provided the diagnostic information first. You shouldn't have to ask for that and then have to continue to ask questions to drag the information out of them. The treatment plan was very aggressive, and of course, very expensive - nearly $10,000, and that was only "Phase 1." I was told there would be a phase 2 and that it would be even more expensive, but we didn't get far enough for an actual quote on that. I was given a lot of push back when asking about more conservative approaches. I saw two other dentists for additional opinions and they both felt that I could do nothing and the risk of the problems getting worse would be very small. One of them felt that Dr. Brenner's plan was reasonable but more aggressive than necessary and the other felt that it was inappropriately aggressive. If you're someone who likes to take the most aggressive option and is not concerned about costs, this guy might be ok. I acknowledge that there is an upside to aggressive treatment - there is a small risk my situation could get worse with more conservative measures. Aggressive treatment would mean spending a lot of money up front but eliminating that risk. Also, he does not do even simple extractions - he has his brother do them, which seems kind of weird. I've never had a general dentist who couldn't do simple non-surgical extractions. And the brother has had DOH disciplinary action taken against him. Overall impression is that this practice is excessively profit-driven.

Everyone fears the awkwardness and the lack of comfort you get from sitting on the chair for a good hour or two, but he's always tried to minimize both of these. Some dentists are pretty rough on the gums when it comes to the picking and the flossing (which can be especially uncomfortable if you haven't been flossing regularly), but he is pretty understandable of this and was very gentle. This was what it was like when I went to my first cleaning, but he recommended that if I increased my flossing to thee or four times a week, he guaranteed that the process next time would be less painful. And he was right! The second cleaning was quick because of his tips! When I got my filling replaced, I thought he did a wonderful and thorough job. He made sure I was numb around the area he was going to work on so that I wouldn't feel any pain. And after he replaced the filling, he made sure that my bite was good and smooth. I think the only strange thing was that his office is located at the bottom of a private home. His office only has one chair and it's really just him and his assistant, who helps with the billing and scheduling. So if you think you're lost when you're trying to find his office, no worries - it's just a little different from what you'd expect from a dental clinic. I know that I'm the first to write a review about him on Yelp, but I've read reviews from others on other sites and there are people who have been seeing him for years just because he does such a wonderful job! The only thing is that his work might be a little pricey, but if you have insurance, it should be all good!
