    My humble breakfast.
    Steven G.

VERY low key, family owned breakfast & lunch joint located in the strip mall at Pima and Craycroft, ate breakfast at the counter, 6/22/2024. Ambiance/Cleanliness-BIG Americana/Coca Cola vibe. Very clean. I liked it. 4 stars. Service-adequate, awkward. I asked for gravy on side....but they put it on biscuit. They were not bad. 3 stars Food- Had a chicken fried steak, eggs over medium, hash browns and a biscuit. Gravy was basic, steak was bloody red and chewy, but tasty. Eggs and taters were good. Would not order this dish again. Price was very reasonable. 3 stars

    Early bird special

This place is no frills and old school: solid food, good prices, and friendly service. Hubby got the early bird with 2 eggs, potatos and toasts. I got the hungry baby with eggs, potatoes, bacons, sausages, and 2 biscuits and gravy. We washed it down with hot coffee. Yummy. Service was friendly and super efficient. Cash only. 100% anti-hipster. This place is awesome.

Before I leave reviews, I read other folks reviews to see if maybe I missed something during my visit(s). I went to leave a review on this place, read a review that bugged me so I had to go back to eat there to see if the negative reviewer was right. I didn't see the issues I read about. Alice's Restaurant is a little hole in the wall, greasy spoon type place. Started in late 1970's by 3 folks who later sold it. About 10/12 booths/tables and a small counter you can sit at. Food is good and tasty, place always looks relatively clean. Prices are average for a breakfast place. Parking in the front and side of the building. Only thing, Sometimes the service is slow.... Even when they aren't busy, but they eventually come around. We really like Samm... fast, efficient, makes sure our order is right, smiles, and seems to enjoy her job. If you haven't already, you must try Alice's Restaurant... S/W corner of Pima & Craycroft, tucked away next to Ace Hardware.

Open face Turkey ( lunch meat )

Big big menu , in this midtown diner west of ace hardware sw corner of Pima & Craycroft. I took friend to lunch there on their suggestion loves Coca Cola memorabilia . Very clean restaurant , no employees wearing masks fyi . Very friendly ,fun server Vera". They enjoyed green chili cheeseburger & fries . My hot Turkey open face traditional meal w mashed potatoes & gravy disappointedly had folded Turkey lunch meat on it . Most prices 7-10$ range . Funny.... With all the Coke memorabilia they only serve Pepsi products? Plenty of parking including west side of restaurant. " Coke , Coke no Pepsi , Pepsi !"

Service was good too, I was never in need of anything, and my coffee was filled when I needed it! It was also very clean and wasn't overly expensive. The donuts and pop tarts in the case looked amazing, but we didn't try them. Next time! What a gem you have here! Highly recommend!

The line was the usual long line and with my dog, was much better as people talk and pet dogs in line and it went fairly fast. The line was in shade with the nearby tree so it made it that much better. The ambiance is the misters around that are welcomed by all, the pretty tree and greenery and fencing and signage they have used to decorate this small outdoor place so well. The shaded and covered tables outside had various chairs and enough space for people to rotate in and out- esp with our dogs that love the cool brick to lie on:) Now, the absolute best part is the food- still amazingly worth waiting for and delicious!! I got the burrito( basic has potato, egg, beans , cheese) and the protein I added was bacon and extra was guac. Also got the 16oz Dirty Chai. My friend came for first time and was surprised to open her order and find two burritos- I knew and wanted to see her face- she loved the taste and the fact she had lunch or dinner later as one truly is so full of deliciousness- it fills you up! We each had one we took home ! This place- just a treat for anyone wanting fantastic and pure local service and food! Highly recommend!!!

I wouldn't say that it is top of the line cooking, but it is very delicious and definitely worth a visit this side of town. Parking can be a little challenging, they do share a parking lot with other businesses, but close in, there are not that many spots. Service is always friendly and makes you feel comfortable. Interesting atmosphere with flamingos galore and other things decorating the inside. Gives it somewhat of a party and fun feel. Food comes out in a timely manner even when they are very busy. Prices are reasonable. Give it a try, I think you'll like it. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

(well once in taste, but I'll get to that) They have great in-house made items. Like the Challa bread, the preserves, their pesto. They most certainly know what they're doing. I had unseasoned filet mignon once, I believe it was the omelette. I talked to the manager. Now I wasnt upset, didn't send it back, I just told them what I experienced and mused that I found it odd the cook forgot a simple thing like salt. The manager acknowledged my complaint and that was all; or at least I was fine. Nope, she came back with a to-go box of croissants topped with cream and berries as an apology. They were tremendous by the way. She didn't have to do that. The ambiance is it's only weak point, but even that is minor. Simple black is fine. It's modern feeling and doesn't stand out loudly. They have outdoor seating, which early in the morning is fine, but id avoid in the summer, which will likely mean you'll be waiting, depending on the time. Oh! I forgot to mention, they have very good drinks. They really are intentional about the blend of flavors, they have a little something for everyone. All in all, I cannot recommend this place enough. It's been a shining star amongst Tucson restaurants and I am grateful they exist. Even to how they organize their menu partly by flavor profiles shows they genuinely LOVE food. Pancakes, german pancakes, french toast, eggs benedict(s) monte cristo, omelets, croque madame, country chicken with biscuits and sausage gravy, chilaquiles con pollo, avocado toast, savory crepe, and even a breakfast pizza. Oh and they offer a few skillet options too-southwest, loaded baked potato, and sausage and peppers skillet. So many options!! I can't speak too much for lunch but I did see burgers on the menu. Not too helpful in that arena sorry. The eggs Benedict with ham was awesome. Side of potatoes with a bit of all seasoning and a side salad with awesome light dressing comes with it. We came during May, when it starts to get warm, but he did well since there is a good amount of shade out on their patio and they provided a nice big water bowl for our special boy. The staff also were kind enough to move one of our chairs out of the way so our dog had lots of room to lay down. Staff were all very kind and never seemed annoyed with the dog (you can always tell at a restaurant if they are, and they were very happy to accommodate him). Very dog friendly!! The food: We gotta talk about their French onion soup. It was pretty dang delicious! The broth itself is quite nice, a nice cheese portion, and the baguette was divine. I also had their French Connection sandwich (with a side of fries), and it had a great combo of ooey, gooey cheese, firm and flavorful ham, and served on a really delicious loaf. Really solid fries, too. We didn't end up getting any drinks but saw several people ordering yummy looking bites.
