She was knowledgeable of the menu and offered our group suggestions. We started with east coast oysters, bread & butter, truffle fries, calamari, and spicy cucumbers. Mark and I decided to treat ourselves to lunch here after attending church service nearby. I found this place on the Yelp app and saw that they have oysters and other seafood that appeals to us. Food was just okay. We didn't taste anything that was so tasty that we would have to come back just for it. We tried the gnocchi and it tasted like soggy unseasoned cotton balls in crab sauce. The crab and artichoke dip was okay. There wasn't anything spectacular about it. The fish and chips was probably the best dish that we had with the fries doing the heavy lifting. The staff members were nice and professional; however, we did wait a minute to be seated with reservations and a nearly empty restaurant. The calamari was more on the drier side but the sauce for the calamari was fantastic. I ordered a drink that had a bourbon base and it was a little too "grown" for me. For an oyster bar, I wish there was more knowledge on the oysters from the servers but the menu does have more detail than I have seen at other oyster bars. I've tried so hard to like this place. I've come back after mediocre experiences hoping for a better outcome, but unfortunately, this place just isn't worth it. We made a reservation for their new cocktail bar, Bar Pilar, but when we walked in, Bar Pilar was closed for a private event, so they sat us in the main restaurant. Not only was this a different experience, different menu, different pricepoint that we made a reservation for, but this change was not communicated prior, and the hostess didn't acknowledge the change and when addressed, brushed it off and asked if we wanted to stay still. The waitress then came by, knocked my purse onto the ground & took our drink order. Nearly twenty minutes went by before we received water much less our drinks. The food was mediocre and over priced, and the service team was slow. We spent much of our night waiting for refills. They don't accept cash. They automatically apply tip, but don't communicate the extra charge hoping you tip twice. It goes without saying that oyster selection here is vast and they are very fresh. The team working here that the chef and manager curated is amazing, with everyone being very attentive despite being extremely busy. One of the gems is also the wine list, where bottles are reasonably priced at a 2x multiplier to retail. Plentiful under the radar Italian selections that one might not find in a lot of places. The main area where Alici could improve is the patio, which is a direct equivalent of sitting directly in the parking lot. The fix would require some effort, but building a line of tall evergreen shrubs to isolate it completely from the big parking lot would be a great start. Despite that, the design of the interior itself is quintessential oyster bar, with beautiful tile and a wide door that stays open during the summer months, allowing a patio-like experience, while sitting inside. read more

First off, absolutely amazing service from my waitress Brittney! Very knowledgeable in the menu as this was my first time here and made my experience enjoyable :) So I came to Alici strictly for their happy hour. I was a little disappointed in seeing that their happy hour oyster was only limited to just one type but I ended up trying 3 different types anyway. They were all super fresh and came very quickly because of the little oyster bar area in the middle where they shucked and prepared the oysters. I also opted to try the crudo which was my first time trying crudo. Brittney suggested the copia crudo which I was skeptical about because peach and fish didn't sound that good to me but it was surprisingly decent. It was a lot more saltier than I had expected, but it was nice and it was a good experience. Next time tho, I think I'd stick with just the oysters hahahaha. Finally, ordered the Al Limon pasta. Came out super fresh and was very good. VERY lemony, so if you're not a fan of lemon flavored dishes I'd skip out on this one. There was no denying the LIMON in its name. Overall super casual but upscale environment. I ended up spending $53 during happy hour which is a bit pricey in my opinion but I did get a few oysters that weren't on the HH menu, oysters, and crudo. Previously, there were several options as a part of the HH but now there's an oyster of the day. The price is $1.50 per oyster. My partner and I visited this restaurant at 7:30PM last night and was incredibly disappointed by the overall experience. From the start, the front-of-house staff seemed disinterested and we felt ignored for much of the evening. We ordered 12 oysters, 2 cocktails, 1 gnudi, and 1 PEI mussels. The food quality was underwhelming with the mussels arriving tepid, the fries soggy, and the bread charred. In addition, only 10 of the 12 oysters were served. Despite notifying the staff of their counting error, the missing two were never brought out. Well after we placed our order, we were told the gnudi was 86ed and had to pivot to the fried cod sandwich instead. Our food didn't arrive until 8:45PM, well over an hour after we were seated. It is likely that the food came out lukewarm-cold due to the cod which was the only component that was served hot. The overall experience suggested that problems in both front- and back-of-house operations were responsible for this amateurish performance. We were never offered to have our food come out separately with sharing plates nor were we notified in a timely manner about any of the 86ed items. This was my third visit over the past three years, and it's clear that the quality has significantly declined in this time span. To our server's credit, she did offer to void the charge of the cod sandwich and did apologize for the cold food. It seems that the issues plaguing this establishment lie with the management group rather than any individual. To add some additional context, this restaurant was the site of our first date and we decided to come back for our anniversary. For this reason, we really wanted to like this restaurant. This fact makes last night's experience all the more bitter. read more

The interior is really open with a lot of natural light and they also have a patio so you really can't go wrong wherever you sit. I would honestly recommend Alici even just for the ambiance. We ordered some oysters of course, that were not really up to par with the restaurants that I'd been to up north and along the mid Atlantic coast, but for a land locked city I thought they were pretty good! (Idk maybe I'm being snobby, oysters might be flash frozen for all I know and really there's no actual taste difference, just a perceived difference on my part. Either way, I'll definitely be going back for some oyster happy hour next time!)
