I love Fontaine's! Every time I've gone the food blows me away. They have oyster Tuesdays where you can get a dozen raw oysters for just $15! I was tempted to order 48 (iykyk) ! EJ was our sever and he gave is great recommendations and very attentive service. The NOLA oysters are def my fave from the flavorful butter/lemon and garlic sauce to the melted cheese on top, these oysters are definitely a hit! There's not much parking since it sits on the corner of Virginia ave and North Highland dr so be mindful of that. It's great for an intimate dinner for 2-4 people because of the size. It's not too loud or boisterous so you really can enjoy great conversation with friends!

Came here on a Monday for a post work outing. It was half of peel and eat shrimp. I also got a drink. The server seemed uninterested but she was also the bartender (I think). The food was good. The New Orleans vibe is always a plus for me. I also had chargrilled oysters and they were delicious.

Bluepoint oysters. Love them.

My BFF and I went for dinner. I haven't been here in quite some time. But it's always good. I know that everything tastes the same as one of my favorite places they own Steamhouse Lounge, but I don't care, I like the atmosphere. I also miss living in the Highlands. I started off with a dirty martini. Delicious. The bartender was really nice and talked to us for quite a while since the place was not that busy. I ordered the grouper fingers. Now they taste like Steamhouse, but definitely don't look like it. Fontaines are larger pieces of grouper but just as good. I also ordered the bluepoint oysters. A little pricey, but they were worth it. They were so cold and really good. The oyster man was really nice and gave up 13. Love it. Of course I'll be back. I love the area and really like the restaurant.

Food was great atmosphere lively but our waitress was was not attentive. Had she been more attentive we definitely could have had more food & drinks. My daughter only ordered an appetizer and wanted to get something else but we had to get to a show at the Fox and didn't have time to wait for the waitress to finally come back. We'll be back but I will definitely not want to be in her section.

So everyone swears Fontaine's has legendary oysters, right? I cannot confirm or deny that because I don't eat them, but I hear it's true. This review is for the folks like me who get dragged along by oyster lovers or just want to explore the rest of the menu. I tried a little bit of everything and honestly, some hits were hitting. The spinach dip, lobster roll, fried shrimp and the cocktails all made me smile like "ok, this is what I came for." The Cajun shrimp pasta was almost there. Once I sprinkled a little seasoning magic on it... and the shrimp took the spotlight and saved the dish. I boxed it up and enjoyed the leftovers even more later. Now the seafood gumbo... that one had me double checking the bowl like "Campbell's? Is that you?" Great nostalgia if you're at home in your pajamas, but kind of disappointing in a restaurant setting. The red beans and rice and the crab cakes were fine, just not memorable enough to text your friends about. The vibe inside was a little more grunge bar than seafood house glam. Based on the photos online, I thought it would feel a bit more polished. Customer service did their part though and kept things running smoothly. Overall, Fontaine's isn't terrible by any means. There are definitely menu gems worth trying, especially if someone in your group is chasing oysters. Just go in with realistic expectations and you'll probably leave satisfied enough.

Fontaine's has been in the neighborhood as long as I could remember. They serve seafood and a lot of Cajun classics, like mufalleta, shrimp etoufee, red beans and rice, jambalaya, and of course, oysters. It was a busy Friday night, but we were seated right away. Most of their seating is located in their outdoor patio - they had tons of fan and misters, so it was comfortable sitting outside. I suppose we could have asked to be moved, but my first complaint was that our table was rickety and has gone through a lot - the paneling on the table was chipping of. Our server came to drop off our waters and did not mention any of their specials that day (both of the tables around us had their servers mention the special of the day). My husband ordered a cocktail (forgot which one) and the cold crab dip to start with. The crab dip tasted okay with tonssss of mayo and lacked flavor. It helped when we mixed in some hot sauce since it needed some sort of acid. I wish it was also served with saltines instead of pita chips. For entrees, I ordered the blackened grouper fingers but substituted my sides with zucchini/squash and red beans and rice with their homemade remoulade. My husband ordered the crab cake dinner with a side of broccoli, and the remoulade. I ended up half of my entree home since it was a lot of food! The grouper was nicely blackened and had a kick to it. I liked the simplicity of the zucchini and squash. I like my red beans and rice thick, but these were not it. My husband was served with good-size portion of crab cakes, but nothing memorable about it either. I'm not sure if I would come back here since I also do not like oysters, and that's their niche here. I thought service and food were okay, nothing to bode about.

We were visiting and wanted oysters. Wow what a great place. Huge fresh oysters. We ordered the oyster stew and it was fantastic. Blackened catfish and lobster bisque were some of the best I've ever had. This is a must go to when in Atlanta. 5* All day.

Table for 3 for lunch We initially stopped in just to take a look at the menu. After reviewing it, we spotted a few items that caught our attention and decided, "Yeah, let's grab lunch here." As we made our way to the host stand, a gentleman appeared from around the corner--not particularly warm or welcoming. I let him know we were a party of three and would like to sit outside. He grabbed three menus and guided us to the back patio. The outdoor seating area gave off a definite New Orleans vibe--inviting and relaxed. Shortly after, our server approached and asked if we'd dined there before. When we said it was our first time, she let us know she'd give us a few extra minutes to look over the menu, which we appreciated. Wifey ordered one of her old favorites, a Blue Moon. I went with "Juiced on Ponce," and our friend ordered "A Night on Ponce"--both of our beers from 3 Taverns Brewery. We placed our food orders at the same time. Wifey chose the lobster roll with tater tots, while I went with the fried grouper Baja Tacos, also with tots--extra crispy. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Presentation was solid, and everything tasted good overall. In fact, it looked so good that another guest stopped by our table to ask what we had ordered and commented on how amazing it looked. My grouper could've been a little crispier, but the flavor was good. Wifey really enjoyed her lobster roll and the portion was pretty big. After we finished eating, we ordered another round of drinks and continued catching up. Overall, it was a positive first experience at Fontaine's. I'd definitely return if I'm back in the area. 4 stars for the laid-back, New Orleans-style patio--it's a great vibe. While our server wasn't exactly warm and fuzzy (she came off a bit detached, maybe overwhelmed), it didn't take away too much from the experience.

Blacked pasta

The blacked pasta was so good, wish it had more tomatoes but it was creamy and seasoned well. I swapped out the scallions and added grilled chicken.

Ahhhh! so good. we ordered the oysters, cold peel and eat shrimp, lobster bisque, the lobster roll and the hotdog platter and everything was 10/10. the only thing i wasn't a fan of was the oyster shooter, but the rest of the experience really made up for it. i can see why she ordered 48 oysters. so good

This place is such a vibe, I had a really good time here. We came for dinner service and we got oysters, blackened fish with tater tots and some cocktails. Our waiter was really friendly and gave us some good recommendations. We sat out on the patio and it i felt like it was in New Orleans. This place would be such a cute date idea or dinner with the girls because the drinks and food were great, the ambiance was going and just over all had a great time.

After getting out of church, we wanted something that had a nice menu selection that would please all of us. Furthermore, yesterday was the perfect day for a patio setting and all roads led to Fontaine's Oyster House. Parking was a breeze as they have Valet parking behind the building. Once I parked I walked around and headed on in. The ambiance was very casual and upbeat. The temperature of the lighting was dim to give a mild tone to the overall feel, however, the natural light from the front windows and patio gave ample lighting. We decided to sit on the back patio to enjoy the weather being that it wasn't too hot or too cold. Upon taking a look at the menu, I was excited at all the finger options. I decided to get the Grouper Fingers with Tater Tots and a Sweet Tea! Sweet Tea - Fresh, Perfectly Sweet, Refreshing, and absolutely a must try for my sweet tea lovers. Grouper Fingers - Golden Battered, Crunchy on the outside, moist and meaty on the inside. Well seasoned, great portion size, good quality of grouper. Tater Tots - One Word, AMAZING. Perfectly deep fried, not greasy, seasoned to perfection, and paired very well with the grouper. The tarter sauce tasted homemade and was very good. It paired perfectly with the batter of the Grouper as well as the Tater Tots! Oh yes. This was a great lunch. The service provided by Reece was amazing. He was all smiles and ensured our cups were filled and the table had everything we needed. Overall, Fontaine's Oyster House was a great experience and I will be back to try more items on the menu.

Are reservations needed?

No. But since it's been warm the Highlands have been busy.

Is this the same place that's all over tik tok?? I need those oysters in my life!

Yes, it is.

How do you place a reserve?

I would say call the restaurant. But I also think you don't have to make one. Its never a long wait there.

Is there an ATM inside?

Yes!

Walking towards the venue, it was a small quaint establishment with a great amount of sunlight, great customer service and an open area that you can order food. I would definitely recommend that you pull up the menu to view upon ordering your food, that way it can go much smoother. I was able to order multiple items such as the mussels which were delicious, crab avocado salad, which was amazing and the Caesar salad with grouper added was even better. There are a variety of items that you can order on a daily basis. Being that this venue is small, I would recommend that you come a little bit earlier, especially if you have a group of friends. You could sit outside or inside but spacing is very limited so keep that in mind. If you have any food allergies, make sure you communicate that when you are ordering. The bathroom is available, but not as accessible for a customer. Lastly, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking for some great food, parking or customer service. When you're excited to try something new it doesn't matter how far away you have to park or how cold it is outside. I don't always check reviews when trying new things. Case in point with this location. Walking in you're introduced to a real nice vibe. Music selection is nice, it's not too loud, service was immediate, and the decor matched the vibe. Our orders were taken and brought out in a decent amount of time. Every thing was good. An order of calamari was returned because it was over cooked. No problem! Our server understood and it was removed from the bill. Everyone was full, enjoyed their meal, loved watching people being celebrated with flashing lights, had a nice time and would go back again; maybe. There were three in our party.
