A great time to dine outside at Fontaine's. Zay was our server. Very personable and professional. The food is always hot and fresh. A great place for having drinks with friends and family friendly

I love Fontaines, but today was so good I had to leave a review. I typically get the appetizer shrimp and a fried catfish basket - which is always delicious! But today I tried the Jambalaya.... I'm so glad I did. It was loaded with shrimp, sausage, and scallops and so flavorful. My daughter had the blackened alfredo and it was also delicious! Service was great too! I wish I could remember her name but she was super attentive and sweet.

I have been wanting to check Fontaines out ever since is saw the 48 oyster lady on TikTok (IYKYK). We went on a Thursday evening and were able to be immediately seated. We opted to sit on the patio, it was covered and we had a perfect pre-rain breeze out there. I ordered the blueberry lemontini, oysters sampler (included two each of their broiled oysters, crab and bacon, Nola and Rockefeller), crab cake dinner with red beans and rice and a house salad with ranch . The house salad was HUGE!! I had them add bacon. Our waitress, Shea, was the sweetest, she took our pictures for us, had a specialty drink made for my friend ( a hibiscus lemon drop)and even gave her a complimentary dessert for her birthday . The crab cakes were delicious , full of crab, the remoulade it came was just ok, needed more flavor. The red beans and rice were delicious and seasoned really well, I wish it had a little more sausage . My oysters were delectable I think my favorites were the crab and bacon followed by the Nola. Fontaine's did not disappoint!

I love Fontaine's! Every time I've gone the food blows me away. They have oyster Tuesdays where you can get a dozen raw oysters for just $15! I was tempted to order 48 (iykyk) ! EJ was our sever and he gave is great recommendations and very attentive service. The NOLA oysters are def my fave from the flavorful butter/lemon and garlic sauce to the melted cheese on top, these oysters are definitely a hit! There's not much parking since it sits on the corner of Virginia ave and North Highland dr so be mindful of that. It's great for an intimate dinner for 2-4 people because of the size. It's not too loud or boisterous so you really can enjoy great conversation with friends!

Came here on a Monday for a post work outing. It was half of peel and eat shrimp. I also got a drink. The server seemed uninterested but she was also the bartender (I think). The food was good. The New Orleans vibe is always a plus for me. I also had chargrilled oysters and they were delicious.

    Bluepoint oysters. Love them.

My BFF and I went for dinner. I haven't been here in quite some time. But it's always good. I know that everything tastes the same as one of my favorite places they own Steamhouse Lounge, but I don't care, I like the atmosphere. I also miss living in the Highlands. I started off with a dirty martini. Delicious. The bartender was really nice and talked to us for quite a while since the place was not that busy. I ordered the grouper fingers. Now they taste like Steamhouse, but definitely don't look like it. Fontaines are larger pieces of grouper but just as good. I also ordered the bluepoint oysters. A little pricey, but they were worth it. They were so cold and really good. The oyster man was really nice and gave up 13. Love it. Of course I'll be back. I love the area and really like the restaurant.

So everyone swears Fontaine's has legendary oysters, right? I cannot confirm or deny that because I don't eat them, but I hear it's true. This review is for the folks like me who get dragged along by oyster lovers or just want to explore the rest of the menu. I tried a little bit of everything and honestly, some hits were hitting. The spinach dip, lobster roll, fried shrimp and the cocktails all made me smile like "ok, this is what I came for." The Cajun shrimp pasta was almost there. Once I sprinkled a little seasoning magic on it... and the shrimp took the spotlight and saved the dish. I boxed it up and enjoyed the leftovers even more later. Now the seafood gumbo... that one had me double checking the bowl like "Campbell's? Is that you?" Great nostalgia if you're at home in your pajamas, but kind of disappointing in a restaurant setting. The red beans and rice and the crab cakes were fine, just not memorable enough to text your friends about. The vibe inside was a little more grunge bar than seafood house glam. Based on the photos online, I thought it would feel a bit more polished. Customer service did their part though and kept things running smoothly. Overall, Fontaine's isn't terrible by any means. There are definitely menu gems worth trying, especially if someone in your group is chasing oysters. Just go in with realistic expectations and you'll probably leave satisfied enough.

Fontaine's has been in the neighborhood as long as I could remember. They serve seafood and a lot of Cajun classics, like mufalleta, shrimp etoufee, red beans and rice, jambalaya, and of course, oysters. It was a busy Friday night, but we were seated right away. Most of their seating is located in their outdoor patio - they had tons of fan and misters, so it was comfortable sitting outside. I suppose we could have asked to be moved, but my first complaint was that our table was rickety and has gone through a lot - the paneling on the table was chipping of. Our server came to drop off our waters and did not mention any of their specials that day (both of the tables around us had their servers mention the special of the day). My husband ordered a cocktail (forgot which one) and the cold crab dip to start with. The crab dip tasted okay with tonssss of mayo and lacked flavor. It helped when we mixed in some hot sauce since it needed some sort of acid. I wish it was also served with saltines instead of pita chips. For entrees, I ordered the blackened grouper fingers but substituted my sides with zucchini/squash and red beans and rice with their homemade remoulade. My husband ordered the crab cake dinner with a side of broccoli, and the remoulade. I ended up half of my entree home since it was a lot of food! The grouper was nicely blackened and had a kick to it. I liked the simplicity of the zucchini and squash. I like my red beans and rice thick, but these were not it. My husband was served with good-size portion of crab cakes, but nothing memorable about it either. I'm not sure if I would come back here since I also do not like oysters, and that's their niche here. I thought service and food were okay, nothing to bode about.

Food was great atmosphere lively but our waitress was was not attentive. Had she been more attentive we definitely could have had more food & drinks. My daughter only ordered an appetizer and wanted to get something else but we had to get to a show at the Fox and didn't have time to wait for the waitress to finally come back. We'll be back but I will definitely not want to be in her section.

We were visiting and wanted oysters. Wow what a great place. Huge fresh oysters. We ordered the oyster stew and it was fantastic. Blackened catfish and lobster bisque were some of the best I've ever had. This is a must go to when in Atlanta. 5* All day.

Table for 3 for lunch We initially stopped in just to take a look at the menu. After reviewing it, we spotted a few items that caught our attention and decided, "Yeah, let's grab lunch here." As we made our way to the host stand, a gentleman appeared from around the corner--not particularly warm or welcoming. I let him know we were a party of three and would like to sit outside. He grabbed three menus and guided us to the back patio. The outdoor seating area gave off a definite New Orleans vibe--inviting and relaxed. Shortly after, our server approached and asked if we'd dined there before. When we said it was our first time, she let us know she'd give us a few extra minutes to look over the menu, which we appreciated. Wifey ordered one of her old favorites, a Blue Moon. I went with "Juiced on Ponce," and our friend ordered "A Night on Ponce"--both of our beers from 3 Taverns Brewery. We placed our food orders at the same time. Wifey chose the lobster roll with tater tots, while I went with the fried grouper Baja Tacos, also with tots--extra crispy. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Presentation was solid, and everything tasted good overall. In fact, it looked so good that another guest stopped by our table to ask what we had ordered and commented on how amazing it looked. My grouper could've been a little crispier, but the flavor was good. Wifey really enjoyed her lobster roll and the portion was pretty big. After we finished eating, we ordered another round of drinks and continued catching up. Overall, it was a positive first experience at Fontaine's. I'd definitely return if I'm back in the area. 4 stars for the laid-back, New Orleans-style patio--it's a great vibe. While our server wasn't exactly warm and fuzzy (she came off a bit detached, maybe overwhelmed), it didn't take away too much from the experience.

Oysters are fresh and tasty.Service is petfect, we were very satisfied. The whole environment is pleasant and cozy.

    Blacked pasta

The blacked pasta was so good, wish it had more tomatoes but it was creamy and seasoned well. I swapped out the scallions and added grilled chicken.

Ask the Community - Fontaine's Oyster House

    Are reservations needed?

No. But since it's been warm the Highlands have been busy.

Is this the same place that's all over tik tok?? I need those oysters in my life!

    Yes, it is.

How do you place a reserve?

I would say call the restaurant. But I also think you don't have to make one. Its never a long wait there.

    Is there an ATM inside?

    Yes!

As for the drinks, I tried the Zombie. I loved it so much, I ordered a second one instead of trying a different one! It tasted sweet and slightly tropical with the rum and spiced liqueur. The bartender named Jack was sweet and entertaining considering it was a slow night. He flirted a lot with my friend and it was a silly moment. We went back to enjoy a night out again before heading home the next day and Jack was there again. Because my friend had had such a good time chatting with him before she flirted back a little bit and was just enjoying the night. We ordered food and drinks and things were going well. Throughout the night Jack and my friend would sneak off and talk and make out while he was on the clock. None of this mattered to me because who cares, it's a bar, we're young and just having a bit of fun. However after we left the bar he texted my friend that it was "messed up" we only tipped 15% on our $193 bill claiming he "took care of so much" for us. I'm not even sure what that means because again - our bill for that night was almost $200. The food was amazing - I need the salsa recipe STAT - but overall the bartender ended up being kind of a jerk that seemed like he was just doing all this to get laid. Earlier this week (mind you it's July) I went back to give this place a second chance and the bartender mentioned before - JACK - was asked by one of my friends if we could get green tea shots and he felt it appropriate to confront me about this review. I apologized if my math was wrong because he claimed i only tipped 13% & not 15% was constantly saying "20% is standard" (not true but whatever) and then when i said he claimed to take care of so much HE claimed the bill should've been $250 and then said "but i understand your white entitlement lets you think you can do whatever" (idk i blacked out with rage after "white entitlement") MIND YOU you i'm half chinese not that it matters, jack - cause i know you're reading this - & i of course got heated because HES ALSO WHITE so clearly HIS white entitlement lets him think he can be hateful to patrons for reviews regardless of wether or not they try to take ownership of their faults. Needless to say the staff here is awful and I will NEVER come back to this bar so enjoy that win, Jack.

He specifically wanted to take advantage of their Monday prime rib special, which is just $20. I'm not much of a prime rib person, but I decided to tag along--and I'm really glad I did. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. It wasn't overly loud or crowded, and the décor created a relaxed, comfortable vibe that made for a great dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food. My friend ordered the prime rib and requested it Pittsburgh-style seared. I ordered the steak burger cooked medium-well. Unfortunately, my burger came out a little more well-done than I prefer, so it wasn't as juicy as I had hoped. My friend also felt his prime rib was a bit more undercooked than expected. Neither dish was bad, but they both missed the mark just enough that I'd give the food a 3 out of 5. One thing that absolutely deserves a shoutout was the tomato jelly that came with my burger. It was incredible! It tasted like the perfect blend of ketchup and jelly--slightly sweet but not overly sweet, with just the right balance of flavor. I ended up dipping my fries in it, and it was so good that I'd gladly order it again. It was easily one of the most memorable parts of the meal. What truly elevated the experience was the service. Our server, Sam, was outstanding. He was personable, attentive, friendly, and genuinely enjoyable to interact with. Great service can completely change a dining experience, and Sam did exactly that. Overall, while the food had room for improvement, the atmosphere and exceptional customer service more than made up for it.
