The TL;DR is that the information she provided was horribly misguided and showed her lack of knowledge in weight loss issues with someone who is in their 50s struggling to lose weight. She was also incredibly rude and condescending. During our first meeting, she spent a ridiculous amount of time reviewing a confusing chart that she had difficulty explaining when she could have bottom-lined it in a few minutes. That left only a short amount of time to discuss calorie/macro goals, so we had to schedule a second apt. since we only had time to discuss breakfast. She REALLY needs coaching on time management, to not be able to discuss essential items like a food plan in an initial meeting is unacceptable. During the second apt, she sent me the zoom link after our starting time -- which is extremely frustrating since there were technical issues. I usually sign in a few minutes early when I have a link to work through any issues. I wanted to get straight to the calorie/macro information. She wasn't at all prepared for the meeting and asked if I was the wrong height and weight and then said, "oh, that's someone else" After giving her the correct weight and answering other questions, she took several minutes to calculate a calorie goal -- I could have done this by Googling a similar chart. My goal with working with a dietitian is to have someone with enough knowledge to put context and details around this information. She gave me ridiculous numbers for maintenance and weight loss calories. I had an overall idea of how much I should be eating due to going to a weight loss spa and losing 35 lbs based on the plan they gave me. When I told her this, instead of asking insightful questions, she was completely condescending, TELLING me that the calorie range I stated could lead to muscle loss and that there are more important things than just the numbers on the scale. Well, for me, right now the number on the scale IS the most important thing, I'd like to get 20-30 libs off and then I can start thinking about incorporating a muscle building plan -- She was soooo disrespectful of my goals. She's a bit cocky for someone with only a year out of school under her I'm so disappointed since I've had a great experience with Dr. Dever a chiropractor and with Dr. Toth - an integrative dr. I've been an Aligned customer for 15+ years and this is my first bad experience. Mikaela gives Aligned a bad name.

They test and prescribe you supplements based on the results. I saw results due to the dietary changes (low fodmap) but my symptoms came right back once I resumed a normal healthy diet, which tells me the supplements I was sold didn't help. The diagnosis and explanations felt a bit rushed and the nutritionist was a waste of time. I didn't get any improvement or new knowledge from my 6 months as a patient here. I had my bloodwork done through aligned in January to check my progress. They called me in the middle of the night and told me to go to the ER based on the results. Turns out the sample was tainted and I incurred $2k in medical bills as a result, which Aligned refused to take responsibility for.

It also must be said, their massage therapists are absolute sorcerers. Ken, JJ, & everyone do amazing work. I've had to sit in my car for a few minutes after to come back to earth after a session. Additionally, the experience at their facility was exceptional both with their billing services, customer support, and the Dr. who took care of me. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Monaco so he could speak to me a little bit more about his services as well as answer a few questions I had concerning the impact I was looking for (I came to him for a sudden limitation in mobility in my neck and spine). As a yoga instructor, I can happily say this guy was legit; his anatomical knowledge and ethical practices were incredible and he made me feel very comfortable from my first moment at the clinic. He also takes a trauma-informed approach, asking for permission and consent prior to contact which should be the norm across the board of all medical/wellness facilities but unfortunately is not always the case. His humor and kindness carried me through the more painful/uncomfortable portions of my adjustments which also made my visits that much more enjoyable! I purchased a package of sessions and they even offered to work with me on billing since my insurance covered nothing, which was very kind. At one point, it's worth noting I was double charged despite my knowledge but their billing department refunded me right away. With Covid-19, I was also a little nervous as I was only half vaccinated during the majority of my sessions. They were insanely clean and offered hand sanitizer, temperature checks, and all wore masks every time. Dr. Monaco had also mentioned to me that as a health and wellness facility, they had all already been vaccinated so that made me feel extra confident about attending. I found her on yelp when I was about 20 weeks pregnant and was starting to have persistent back pain. She got me in for a consult quickly and patiently worked with me to help relieve my pain. My back pain has been consistently better and nearly gone since I have been seeing her throughout this pregnancy. Whenever my pain starts to creep back, or I start to feel tight or just uncomfortable (which is frequently nowadays) a quick adjustment and stretching exercises with Dr. Steinys make me feel better in a matter of hours. I actually feel lighter. She is extremely knowledgeable, patient, kind, and willing to listen to all of your needs. Her office is great, and Ashley at the front desk always quickly responds to emails and phone calls and is really good at her job....always welcoming you in to your appointment. I admit to being remiss in not checking out staff credentials ahead of time. My referral order was for PT, so I assumed the staff might have informed me that no one I would be working with had an advanced degree in that area. I'm sure the staff is very well qualified for personal training, but I would not recommend this place for PT. My care was mainly directed by a former nurse practitioner/firefighter/EMT. After showing me an exercise, I was off-loaded to an admin person with no credentials at all in PT. The supervisor, who spent about 5 minutes with me per session, actually trained in chiropractic care and acupuncture. After 3 sessions, I did not feel I was receiving the care I needed. I also felt very out of place and uncomfortable in addition to not making any progress. I cancelled the rest of my appointments and started with an organization where each therapist has a doctorate in physical therapy. That person worked with me one-on-one for the full session. I immediately began to make real progress and benefitted enormously from the care I received. In summary I'd say before starting anywhere, check the qualifications of staff members and make sure they align with your needs. For me the only good part of this experience was being greeted each time by Adrean. He is an extraordinary customer service person and a kind, warm, and welcoming one. He was extremely efficient and the sole reason I gave Balanced Flow a two-star rating instead of one.
