Aligned Modern Health is great. I've been to two locations, met with 3 of their chiropractors, and a half-dozen therapists and support staff during my long recovery from an office job. Too much time sitting at a desk book-ended by active living created a debilitating condition in my lower back. While I did pair AMH's treatment with that of a pain management doctor, I believe AMH's ongoing therapy has been what helped me prevent a re-occurrence of issues and continue to my active lifestyle. Starting treatment, AMH was incredibly thorough. They took the time to understand what symptoms I suffered from, developed, and eventually revised both therapy and alignment plans to suit my progress through recovery. After finishing primary treatment with them and my PM doctor, AMH was able to put me on a management plan that was affordable and allowed me to work with them to manage my lower back, leg, and hand issues as my body continues to age and my profession continued to change. While Aligned cannot magically fix your ailments, if you're willing to put in the homework for physical therapy and frankly discuss your progress with the therapists and chiropractors, they can keep coaching you towards a healthier and better feeling body. Going to Aligned Modern Health has had such a significant impact on my health, and I could not recommend it enough! After suffering from chronic GI issues for several years without any real answers or treatment options from doctors, I decided to try a functional medicine approach. A woman who I was getting acupuncture from, recommended I try AMH, and I am so grateful that she did. I really can't begin to describe the amount of distress I was in due to the severity of my GI issues and not having answers. Even worse was that my GI issues led to additional problems, which depleted my overall mental and physical health. The treatment I received from the functional medicine team in Wicker Park (Dr. Butler) has been 100% effective, and nearly all of my initial GI complaints have completely subsided. In addition, they have helped me identify other areas of my health that I can improve with the use of vitamins and supplements. My only "con" is that treatment options can be pricey, however I continue to pay the cost because the results are worth it. It should also be noted that they are one of the most cost effective functional medicine options that I've found (many don't take any insurance). In addition, the doctors and office managers are very helpful and mindful when it comes to cost, and they will work with you to make treatment goals and plans that fit your budget. The office managers, Breezy and Molly, also make scheduling very easy, and automatically send you an email and calendar invites to your appointments so that you don't forget! I had the best experience at Aligned! I had never been to a Chiropractor before, and after several appointments at an orthopedic specialist and bouts of physical therapy, it was discovered I had a disc protrusion in my neck. Aligned came highly recommended from a couple of friends, so I figured it couldn't hurt to get a consult. The next 10 weeks were incredible - I had detailed attention, a plan of action that focused on education and exercises not just while I was in the clinic, and most importantly, encouragement that I didn't have to live with pain or have surgery as the only eventual alternative. I had a great experience at the Wicker Park Aligned Modern Health this past week. I was referred to their manager, Anne, after running the F^3 Half Marathon last weekend. She was very kind and accommodating, promptly scheduling my 30-minute sports massage via email accommodating for my busy weekday schedule. When I arrived, the front desk staff was warm and welcoming. My massage really hit the spot, pun intended! Izabella was very receptive and attentive to the areas I asked her to work on, specifically my neck, upper back, and hamstrings). She provided a good amount of pressure to my tender trigger points, working them out without leaving me in writhing pain. I walked out their front door literally feeling like I had grown a few inches and with my shoulders notably lower and more relaxed than when I had walked in. This was my first real massage experience and it was a seamlessly smooth one. I am OBSESSED with this place. I had been having shoulder problems for MONTHS and tried everything. Changed pillows, did yoga, tried acupuncture, cupping and a chiropractor (all at a different location) before landing here and FINALLY - this place fixed me! I came to AMH with hip bursitis and IT band issues in both legs. Super painful, affected my mobility and work schedule greatly; in other words devastating at the beginning. I have been working with the chiropractor, Dr. Priyanka Narkhede, her rehab associate Drew Werner, and Marianna Csaszar (acupuncture). I am not 100 percent after a little more than a month, but I am walking almost normally, working my regular schedule and would give it a 90% back to normal. I will never ever treat anywhere else if a future injury does pop up. In fact, I was out of town last weekend for a mini vacation and ended up walking a ton around Newport, RI, over the weekend. They are the best, and I love the front desk. I schedule all my appointments through them, they confirm the day ahead of time, and I don't have to drive to separate locations for my treatment. Aligned on Division changed my life. After the birth of my first child I struggled with a weak pelvic floor and diastasis recti, and just a general misalignment, especially in my hips. Doctor Kasten, Aaron, and Tyler got me on track to recovery with adjustments and exercises. I previously tried to exercise using moves from the internet for diastasis recti, but having someone there to make sure I was doing the physical therapy exercises correctly and staying aligned motivated me to keep going and doing thhat moves at home too. In addition, the space is beautiful and everyone there is so nice and easy to talk to. Where do I even start... I love this office! As a first time mom (due in March :)), I have been dealing with horrible back pain since the start of my pregnancy. I also grind my teeth, so I was in definite need of some sort of relief. I knew the pain would only get worse with the baby growing so much. It is a very small staff, & they all work SO hard to make your visit the best it can be! From the moment you walk in, Shera greets you & always remembers your name. Then you go do some stretching & strengthening with Aaron. As much as I dread doing the work with Aaron, he always encourages me, makes me laugh, & I know the exercises he has me do are specialized for my problem areas. I always feel stronger when I leave! Dr. Maggie Kaston is the Chiropractor, & she has magic hands! She is extremely knowledgeable in every aspect of her field, & she is trained in dealing with all the aches & pains associated with pregnancy. I never feel rushed when I'm with her, she answers ALL my questions & always explains what she is doing in detail. She is truly a ray of sunshine! I have mixed experience at Aligned. They have a mixed team of two chiropractors and rehab specialists, plus other covering staff. The initial experience was confusing, at they had two chiropractors and they did not convey same treatment plan or which exercise to focus on. The time with chiropractor was limited to say the least- it was barely two adjustments and then your are off seeing rehab folks. After I complained, I requested to follow only a single chiropractor as I felt the other one was not particularly attentive. For a while treatment was good as Dr. Roberts was knowledgeable and I was able to make improvements. Unfortunately, transition of care got botched again when Dr. Roberts left his position as patient hand-off never occurred as agreed upon. At that time I decided to quit Aligned as the experience resembled disjointed care with transitional trainees in hospital clinic. The plus side would be front desk staff is probably the most organised and friendliest of the team. read more

After being injured during a race last year, I didn't have great luck with another treatment plan at a different place last winter. So I tried Aligned without much hope that it would help. Within my first visit, I felt like I had acquired some real tools to strengthen the areas where I was feeling pain. Dr. Kasten showed me an x-ray of my back and hips and helped explain what was out of whack, which was actually pretty invaluable for someone who's a visual learner. It contextualized the problem and demonstrated why I was doing specific exercises. I had never been "adjusted" before and now I look forward to it since it helps loosen everything up. I actually look forward to doing the group of exercises I learned at Aligned after workouts, against all odds. It also helps that Shera and Dr. Kasten have awesome attitudes and are focused about what's going on with you and how you're progressing. I was pretty shocked at how much they remembered about my situation after my first visit and how attentive they were about it. They're happy to tell you all about what they're doing and how it'll help. The office is bright, clean, and smells great-it definitely doesn't feel like a hole-in-the-wall where treatments are vague or unexplained, which is how I perceived many other offices before trying Aligned. It also seems like they have frequent public events and welcome people who walk in to find out about their place, which is definitely good for the neighborhood. If you're on the fence, just go check it out-it feels way less like a doctor's office than a place that'll help you develop skills to avoid the doctor's office. Great approach and awesome people. I discovered Aligned Modern Health in the summer of 2016. It's truly a neighborhood gem and I'm really thankful that I stopped by to meet the staff. I've been visiting Lisa Reichert for acupuncture treatments on a weekly to bi-weekly basis since then. It may seem unnatural to look forward to lying in a room on a table with needles sticking out of you for an hour but it is an amazing experience and has become my routine "escape" from the world outside. Lisa is great to talk to and she customizes each treatment based on your particular short-term needs as well as the longer term plan she has created for you. The needles don't hurt at all and actually provide a calming sensation that makes the entire hour seem like a relaxing spa visit. Today was my first time stepping into a chiropractors office, and after my great experience today, it will not be my last! I am a nurse and have low back pain from hours of lifting patients who can't lift themselves. I know, I shouldn't do it, but I do anyways. And I obviously don't lift from my legs or else I wouldn't be in this situation I find myself in, now would I? With a troublesome lower back spot for the last four months, I decided to make an appointment with Aligned Modern Health (just a few yards from my house). They were able to get me in same day. Sheera was my first encounter with the place and she was so nice and helpful. I called earlier in the day and she ran my insurance through and told me exactly what my benefits would be and exactly what I could expect to pay. My insurance (blue cross) does cover chiropractors, but only after I were to hit my high deductible. Sheera helped me through my payment options and made everything crystal clear. I really appreciated this because I hate being hit with a big and unexpected bill after the appointment. It was SO nice knowing what was coming! When I walked in, Sheera greeted me and Tyler, the therapist, gave me a great tour of the facility and answered some questions. He was super friendly and is great at explaining exercises and helping me through them. It's a serious workout to work with him! Dr. Maggie Kasten was phenomenal. She started with me in the exam/consultation room and really listened to what was bothering me. She did appropriate neurological and orthopedic assessments to rule out any major dysfunction or serious concern (which I appreciate with my nursing background) and then walked me through what she thinks is going on and how she can help me. Even the areas of my back she was touching I felt like she was really listening to me and was really understanding where my pain was. After my adjustment, I really was able to move so much better. And, she's friendly and kind to boot. Although I know this tightness is likely to come back, I look forward to working with Dr. Kasten and the team and look forward to my next appointment. read more

I have had several prenatal massages from here in the past but was unfortunately very disappointed by the one I had today :( the previous ones I had were during covid and I was laying on my side with a pregnancy pillow and a lot of pressure/stretching was involved to help tight/sore muscles. The price was also $80 at that time. Today, I was told this was a full massage on a table and assumed there was a belly cutout given it was a pregnancy massage. It was the same situation where I laid on my side with a pregnancy pillow but the price was $140- the only difference was I had taken off some of my clothes! My masseuse was a nice person so this is not directed at her, I just wish I had some relief from my symptoms but felt very disappointed when I left the facility after the massage was completed. I filled out the forms beforehand indicating my problem areas and had asked for moderate pressure, but there was almost no focus on said problem areas and the pressure was barely over light for most of the massage. Like I said, the past experiences at this facility were fantastic but today's just wasn't and was absolutely not worth almost double what I've paid in the past few years! read more

Dr. Dorough is wonderful and has been a huge help with improving my health. However, I would strongly recommend seeing him at the South Loop location over the West Loop. I have had a couple of less than positive experiences with the front desk at the West Loop location, including travelling for an hour to an appointment only to be told that appointment did not exist. I made the appointment in person at my last visit. Mistakes do happen, but she was pretty dismissive about it, and this was not the first frustrating experience. Can't recommend Dr. D enough but see him at the South Loop. read more

I showed up at AMH Wicker Park with back and neck pain, and was reluctant to get an X-ray, but I am so glad I went because they diagnosed me with scoliosis, taught me why I was having pain and gave me exercises to strengthen my back and increase mobility. This place is unique in so many ways it's hard to describe em all. No. 1 best place to go to for chiropractic care. I had never been to a chiropractor before but Tanya listened to my issues and made a plan tailored to my needs, she did a wonderful job. They also have acupuncture....say what?!! Yes you heard me. Kim was fantastic! I had never had that before either but she also made me feel comfortable and the pain of the needles wasn't so bad after all. But if you're a wimp don't do it. Lol. This review is LONG overdue. I developed some back pain during my pregnancy and found out that my insurance covered massage therapy--under the guidance of a chiropractor. I have always been EXTREMELY skeptical of chiropractic medicine and was wary of even going just for my referral to massage therapy. But from the moment I met Dr. Kasten, my entire outlook changed and she completely transformed my pregnancy. After my very first adjustment, I felt a million times better and I continued to see the entire Aligned team throughout my pregnancy. I truly believe I had such an incredible unmedicated birth because of this team. They helped me prepare my mind and my body. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the entire team. Aaron always makes me laugh and gave me lots of great stretches and exercises to do on my own to help alleviate pain. What brought me in to Aligned in the first place goes back to mid December 2016 a week before the holidays. I always had what I considered an annoying discomfort in my lower back and never thought much of it. It wasn't until one day after a weekend of moving furniture and then running on the snowy side walks to catch a bus that my lower back pain really started to grow worse. The pain grew from an annoyance to an unbearable pain that affected my posture in a matter of hours throughout that day. It affected me so much that I had to call off work the following morning. That morning, my fiancé at the time now my wife suggested I go to Aligned after reading all the reviews and how great they were helping patients with similar situations I was experiencing. Megan at the front desk was great and was able to get me in that afternoon. Dr. Kasten was able to do an X-Ray of my spine and really dig into what the root cause of my lower back pain. Dr. Kasten was great at explaining the causes of my pain and was able to make a plan of action to help get me back to my life without any back pain! She set me up to work with her physical therapy team, Aaron and Jasmine. It was honestly a lot fun working with them during my PT sessions.
