The studio is relaxing, well equipped and very comfortable! Abby did a fantastic job of listening to my needs and giving the perfect level of "firm" during my massage. It's a shame I don't live locally, because I would honestly take the 4-hour flight just to see him again. Wow! What an amazing massage with GiGi. This place is tucked in to a second floor space in a building on Clinton. There's a touch screen to your right to be buzzed into the building. A quick elevator ride to the second floor and you walk straight into the lobby. I was early so they actually took me in early right after I signed some quick paperwork. Gigi asked me a few questions about my massage and let me know everything from the music loudness to the firmness of the massage was my choice. This was 90 minutes of bliss. I asked for extra time on my feet, hands and forearms and she listened. I have had more massages than I could possibly count and this was in the top I have ever had based on Gigi's care. My husband booked couples massages for us here and we had a great time! To be honest, the entrance to the building is a bit wierd. A little creepy or eerie. But once you walk into the actual spa, it feels like an oasis! The waiting area and reception area is so lovely. I love all the decor and finishing touches of this area. The twinkle lights, the diffuser, the framed images--all of it is so well done. They also had mimosas waiting for us while we waited, PERFECT! We arrived at around 1:45/1:50 for our 2pm appointments. They started on us a bit late, the couple before us were chatting with the therapists a bunch before they could get the room ready for us. No big deal, luckily we didn't have anywhere we needed to be immediately following our massage. The couples massages were so relaxing. I like that they have you fill out a questionnaire at the beginning and then you can indicate problem areas you want them to focus on. I am visiting from out of state and the hotel I'm at didn't have a spa like I thought, so I searched for someone in the area. I was having issues using their online booking, so called and was able to get booked for the very next morning. I received a 90-minute warm stone massage from Susana, with medium-firm pressure. The location was easy to find and the reception staff was friendly. The space is clean and tranquil. There are showers, but I wasn't invited to use the facilities to shower pre- nor post service. Which was fine, as I always shower thoroughly prior to arriving for any massage. However, given that it's an advertised amenity I thought the invitation would have been extended. Especially as I arrived about 30 minutes early and was not taken back until my exact appointment time. The room itself was very nice, I liked the decor elements. The one thing I would have changed was the temperature, but I didn't bother to say anything because I didn't want to take away any more time from my service. My usual massage therapist has a table warmer and will turn it on if I ask. But I figured since it's summer and hot out, they forewent it. You are draped the entire time, so if you are squeamish about modesty, there's no need to worry here. Susana was thorough and went over my areas of concern with me prior to starting and when she was finished I felt much better. I have a recurring problem area in my shoulder/neck area, and when she was done I couldn't feel any tension there after always feeling it for weeks at a time. Had a fantastic experience this weekend getting a couples massage with my husband. We were in town for a wedding but wanted to pamper ourselves as we don't go out too often. My guy was getting a message while I waited a few mins before the lady that was massaging me walked in speaking in her regular toned voiced interrupting what my guy could have had was quiet and peace. Although the lady started on me a few mins after my guy she finished me first like I know that it was not 60mins. My guy also mentioned the woman that massaged him seem like she didn't want to and was totally uncomfortable with the way she lightly touched him. We both didn't have a good experience to be up front as we attend couple's messages often at other locations we feel the only thing we liked was your receptionist and the mimosas. Terrible experience. Left in more pain than I entered, to just find out that my masseuse was brand new. This is a very expensive massage to get someone new that doesn't know what they are doing. I should've atleast been given a heads up that the masseuse was new and not had to pay full price when I am coming here to relax but leaving in pain because the person doesn't have experience and is using me as training. This has happened twice now(back to back times). I do not plan to return and would not recommend to others unless you have gone often and know exactly who is giving you a massage. I've gone to have both a facial and massage. I'm pretty satisfied with the massage and it seems most clients were coming for that. But I do not recommend this face for facial as it's the worst facial I've gotten in my entire life. The person who thinks facial should be offered at this quality most definitely never gotten a good facial him/herself. Wouldn't surprise me if she/he never had one. Disclaimer: I grew up in asia so I'm used to pretty high facial standards but the following hopefully will make you think twice of going there for facials using standards from any country. The deep cleansing facial I wanted is about deep cleaning but deep cleaning is not washing and scrubbing your face 3 times and apply a cooling gel and call it a day. I have both the electric face washer and the beauty roller they used which means I know how they should be properly used. I was first shocked that a face washer is used at all because facials are about healing power of hands and good massaging cleaning can do wonders. But skipping passed that, imagine having a brush on your face brushing for a good 5 mins (ladies who have the brush know that's long) and immediately followed by a harsh scrubbing face wash with massaging pressure. I think the esthetician lacks basic training judging by her moves. I don't mean this as a personal insult rather honest opinion. Because not only was the total amount of time of her actual hands on my actual face area be maybe 10 mins tops but also for example most people (probably everyone) tend to need deepest cleansing around the t zone (forehead and nose). No one that I know needs to have their cheek bone area scratched the hardest. But the 1/3 of the facial, my right cheek has been scratched up by several times of washing and towel wiping (get beauty wipes please!) to the point when she put on what I think was toner with high alcohol concentration, my face was actually hurting. But nose area was slightly stroked each time during this process. I should say there was work around the nose. The following Extraction portion was her using two beauty swabs trying to get black heads out. I didn't even think that kind of maneuver can be done. The most appalling part was the use of beauty roller, which if you didn't know, is a vibrating, metal bar or sometimes ball thing. Imagine not having any moisture on your face and have a piece of metal trying to stretch across it. I mean most people's common sense is probably making them think hmm maybe some moisturizer would help with this process. I do expect some level of drying with any facial so I brought my own Lamer moisturizer and eye concentrate just in case. I'm glad I did cuz immediately after the facial, I went to the bathroom and used twice the amount I'd normally use. Funny I felt I had to recover from a facial. I'm not interested in getting anyone in trouble. Just thought to share my experience so you guys can judge for yourselves. (Again I recommend this place for massages and may go back for that. Update: just saw the response from the business. 1) I did not use my actual name in my yelp account as I do not believe that is a requirement. 2) Using he/she is to mean that anyone would find the service not acceptable (if you read my comments carefully, you should be able to get why I said that instead of pointing out this technicality. And I also think you (owner and employees)) can actually tell based on what I've outlined whether I've actually been a customer or not so there's no point playing that game). Bottom line: I just saw this post so I never nor would I ever reach out to get the refund because I do believe those offered service deserve to get paid/ getting out of payment was not the goal of my post. But I feel it is my duty as a customer to share my actual experience so others can have all the information they need. If others have positive experience, that's great! I even mentioned I would go back for massages because the lady did a great job. But I do feel I have the right to outline what happened. Suggesting I'm some sort of spam / wrote my post out of other will is unfair and inaccurate. read more
