Had the local breakfast sandwich 3 or 4 times. I still think about it now that I'm home. YUM! The portuguese sausage they use isn't as sweet as the others I've had, and the croissant is all buttery and crispy and toasty (though I'm 99% sure it's just a Costco croissant - they heat it up just right!) They also offer sugar free coconut syrup. I got one pump in a cold brew and added some heavy cream and it was incredible!! I did get one of their specialty coffee drinks for my husband and he said it was really sweet so maybe ask for a reduction in syrup. read more

The internet recommended Ali'i Coffee to me when I was looking for pour overs in Waikiki. I've had Kona coffee multiple times, so I decided to try the Ka'ū beans since they're also local to Hawaii. The pour over was on the lighter side and pretty smooth. It leaned more mellow than bright or juicy, so it wasn't quite the fruit-forward cup I usually gravitate toward. This Ali'i Coffee location was the closest to me, and there are a few tables available for dine-in. They also have plenty of breakfast options. 2 stars for the coffee but the service was fast and the baristas were very sweet and helpful. My family and I got a few of their iced drinks (Queen Latte, Prince Latte, Banana Milk Float, and Kula Cold Brew) and we all drank a quarter of it and threw the rest away :( Drinks were overly sweet and VERY milky. I only came across Ali'i coffee on one of my last days in Oahu unfortunately. It's located in the Courtyard by Marriott, which I didn't realize so initially I walked right past it. I stopped by early in the morning, hoping to grab a quick breakfast and coffee. Unfortunately, there was a long line ahead of me already at ~6:30am. Most of their customers are probably people staying the the hotel or very close by, so it's easy and quick for them to just get out of bed and head over. I would have loved to try out more of their coffees, like the taro cube, but I went with the classic royal honey latte. For food, I got the breakfast sandwich, which had egg, ham, cheese, avocado, tomato, onion, and chili aioli on ciabatta bread. It also came with some chips. The sandwich was $18, so very steep, but it's also a lot of food, and it was really good. There's seating inside, but it's rather small and didn't feel so comfortable with a steady stream of people coming in and out. I ended up taking my latte and food out into the seating area of the hotel off of the lobby. There were a lot of people meeting up there before they headed off to their group's activities, so after eating a bit of my food, I actually took the rest to go. During my stay at the Courtyard, Ali'i became the de facto choice for the first morning's coffee due to its proximity. Located in the lobby, this place opens up early. We tried the Ube Latte the first day and man it was good. While there were so many other options in Waikiki for morning breakfast and coffee, we just went going back every day for the rest of our stay for our first caffeine of the day. Their caramel coconut latte was good too but not as great as the Ube latte. They use locally sourced Kona beans too. The staff were super polite and accommodating as well. While they do have a seating area, it's small but also never crowded. If you are in Waikīkī, this cafe is worth a try! read more

Was scoping out unique coffee spots while I was out in Waikiki on business and stumbled across this GEM. It's located inside the Courtyard Marriott, maybe about a 5-7 min walk from where I was staying at the Laylow. I passed a handful of coffee shops on the walk there and it was a good decision! This little spot offers up unique latte options and friendly service. I went with the taro ube latte and it was a complete dream! I love how they don't overpack with ice too. We had the: Taro Ube 3/5 I was hoping more for stronger notes for Ube and tasted more Taro. The Queen 4/5 Stronger and better flavors. Picked up hazelnut and the beans well. Less so on coconut. We ordered one Taro Ube and Ube Latte which came in to $15.24 for both, pricey for drinks but it was heard great things about the place! The servers were nice in helping us decide, it is strange that they don't display prices. The Ube itself is okay, was on the sweeter side and the coffee notes overpower. If you're hankering for a pure Ube latte, I highly recommend Yogurstory for their Ube latte, a 30 minute walk west of Waikiki but creamy rich and delicious. read more

Picked up a butter croissant, banana bread, and their chia seed pudding. All were really good. the chia seed pudding is very filling and delicious! The prince and ube latte were both delicious. So funny enough, this place was on my list to try during the couple days I was in Honolulu, specifically because I heard they had a taro-ube latte, I wrote that down in my travel notes and everything - and that does still sound really good, but I still haven't tried it. I did get a drink here - it was the morning of our flight out of Honolulu, and when I saw they also had a chocolate/coconut milk cold brew on draft, I figured that sounded at least as good, and instant, which it was. Ordered it and had it in my hand about 15 seconds later (the magic of "on draft"), and yeah - it was pretty delicious, and totally reasonably priced at $5. Sort of funny that such a quality local craft coffee place is inside an otherwise very mainstream hotel, but good for them - they probably get a ton of business from Sheraton guests, not to mention from other nearby hotels, like the Hyatt I had stayed at. If that Hyatt had had such a quality craft coffee place, I would probably have gone there instead! read more
