After the drive over, sitting down and enjoying that Triple Crown before heading into the water absolutely hit the spot. It was one of those vacation moments that just feels right. Calling it "good" honestly doesn't do it justice. It was packed with flavor from start to finish. The best breakfast burrito I've ever had!!! We've gone to several locations throughout the island but the one in Waikiki is our favorite as it's walk g distance from our hotel off the beach. It's a little shack looking joint with great service. The girls who work there are fast and friendly. The bomber add avocado is my go to and each bite is perfection. This place looked kind of cool, and we liked that kalua pork was in the menu. There is no dining room--rather there is a collection of wooden tables under string lights. Being near the International Marketplace, there was quite a bit of bustle (even on a Tuesday night) and it was nice to sit and watch the people go by. We both ordered the pork plate. It came with rice and a salad. Unfortunately, I didn't love it. Kalua pork is usually juicy and succulent. This was dry shredded pork. The sauce was quite good though. I didn't care for the salad dressing, but hubby did. We also ordered a iced Hawaiian coffee, and that was quite good All in all, this place got us fed, but I probably would not go back. Super unassuming spot. I've driven by it several times before finally deciding to try it after reading a few things online, and I'm glad I did. Plenty of outdoor seating and a solid variety of food options, but I went with the Haleiwa Bomber breakfast burrito. Honestly, one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. No exaggeration. And the kalua pork inside it might be the best I've had - crispy but tender, flavorful, and so addictive. It's been a while, but I finally made my way back to Kono's Northshore Waikīkī for the Pig on the Grass and it did not disappoint. The pulled pork is smoky, tender, and full of flavor. Paired with fresh greens and topped with their guava BBQ sauce and papaya seed dressing, everything comes together really well. The combination is simple but seriously delicious. One of the most reasonably priced meals i had on the island. I had a great takeout experience here: Ordering: was able to order online and it was ready earlier than timed. Keiki Mini Burrito Bomber: rice, kalua pork, guava bbq sauce. My kid enjoyed this and from the taste that i got it was really good. The pork is soft and tender. they put just enough sauce so that it does not overpower the burrito. My child loved it and ate it all up. Sunrise Smoothie: OJ, strawberry, banana. This was just ok. its all the ingredients blended with ice. It ended up getting watered down really quickly where you have liquid on the bottom and everything else floating to the top. Not enough strawberry flavor and too sweet. this is a 2 star. i would not get it again. Dole Whip sample: They give out samples. The one i got was SOOO good and thicker and creamier than others i have had. i really wanted to order a whole cup but did not want to wait in line after getting my takeout. read more

If you're not a pork eater, skip it. The non-pork options at Kono's are really disappointing. I didn't detect any salt in the admittedly and tantalizingly fluffy scrambled eggs in my pupukea breakfast bomber. The promised potatoes were only in half of the giant burrito, also bland. The oily grilled onions and peppers had no flavor. The salsa added a critical sauce component, but they only gave me half a container of it. My tortilla was limp. There are also plenty of flies and some birds hanging around the place, making it hard to sit down there. The food looked so good from the pictures, but never again. read more

I wanted to try this breakfast spot after seeing people lining up in the morning, so I finally found the time to stop by. I'd recommend ordering your food and taking it over to International Mall to eat since the seating there is cleaner and shaded. I ordered two burritos: one Waimea burrito and one Kalua burrito. They were essentially the same, with the only difference being that one had bacon and the other did not. The Waimea burrito contained Kalua pork, eggs, potato, and cheese. It was a decent burrito. The tortilla was nicely toasted, and it was wrapped well. There was a good amount of eggs and cheese, scrambled together and placed inside, and you could definitely taste the Kalua pork. The pork was juicy and spread throughout the burrito. My only complaint was that there was barely any potato or large chunks of it in the burrito. The complimentary salsa was also disappointing. I felt like the burrito needed it to tie everything together, but it tasted more like store-bought or premade salsa. I would have preferred a thinner, more flavorful salsa that was easier to scoop onto the burrito. Stopped by Kona's Northshore in Waikiki, which is more of a casual grab-n-go spot and tried the Chun's Kalua Pork and Bacon Burrito Bomber. The burrito was solid and filling, with a good amount of kalua pork that paired really nicely with the housemade salsa they serve on the side. Wish the kalua pork was a bit more seasoned though, I felt like the burrito really needed the salsa on the side. Everything came together well and made for a satisfying meal otherwise. We also ordered the iced vanilla macadamia coffee, which was refreshing but very light in flavor. I could barely taste the macadamia note and was hoping for a bit more depth there. But, my sister and I were craving a breakfast burrito after eating poke for brunch many days in a row. They had an extensive menu including milkshakes and sandwiches / wraps. They also gave us free samples of dole whip #win. We got the Chuns Bomber and the option for it be fully loaded (sour cream, jalapeños, and avocado). The Kalua pork and bacon combo was delicious. Pork was definitely tender and had a subtle roasted flavor, but the bacon was more so like tiny bits. One thing I will note is that the burrito isn't super cohesive and I felt like most of the loaded items were at the bottom. Large serving size and perfect for sharing. read more

This place is right off of the main strip and has some interesting breakfast choices. I had the Queens breakfast burrito which was pretty simple. Some meats, eggs, and other ingredients. The location is really small, just a hut where you go in, order your food the sit outside at one of the nearby tables. You get a chance to see the hustle and bustle of the people in Hawaii. So great for people watching but beware of the little sparrows that roam around. They come from the nearby trees and snag little scraps of food when and where they can, so if you don't care to eat around animals then you might want to take it and go to your hotel. This place was convenient since it opened early at 7am and a no brainer pick as I needed to catch a flight later. Staff was friendly and food was quick. I got the Pigs on Grass and the kaluha pork was good; it wasn't my personal top but went well with all the greens and condiments. The sauces that it came with were good. I'd drizzle all the papaya seed dressing (yellow one) on top of all the greens. The guava bbq sauce was also a necessary add-on to the pork. The reviews were good so we decided to make this one of our lunch stops. It's just a little stand across the street from the International Marketplace on Kuhio Ave, which we were a little surprised by. There are a couple of tables but no other real place to sit. Seemed like they were known for the pork, so that's what we ordered! I got the Kalua pig nachos, wife got the pork plate lunch, and the kiddo got the mini pork burrito bomber.
