The smoothie bowls are great, vibes are good and we didn't eat at the location because at the time there was a homeless person sitting face down on the table. I know that's not totally in their control but there's lots of places to eat beyond the seating they provide, such as the beach. Just eat it quick! My I lava you bowl was really runny. Service is fast I'm taking a star away because it's expensive. A 3$ up charge on macadamia nut butter when you get maybe a tablespoon worth and it's locally grown on the island (despite everything else) is pretty crazy. It's about 30$ for two bowls. It's vacation though on the Waikiki strip! So expect those prices. Good smoothie bowls. read more

So happy to see this spot on this end of Waikiki. To note: I did not eat an acai bowl, I went straight smoothie 2 days in a row. And it was good? I wouldn't say the most robust smoothie for the price, but I appreciate healthy options when I can get it. I did add a few of the add-on's like protein, which added to the price, making my smoothie close to $16/$17+ which is steep for a smoothie that isn't the biggest. It is not only very pretty but it tastes fresh and delicious! -Blue Dream Smoothie was not too sweet, but the flavor was good. I still liked the tropical one best. -Monkey Bowl has a good amount of peanut butter. The bowl is delicious and flavorful. I thought it had a lot of different fruits. I first came here because the place that I usually get my avocado toast closed without any notice. I decided to walk around to see what was open at 6 AM and discovered Sunrise Shack. I was surprised at the size of the bread they use. It was huge! It is very tasty and filling. So I've returned 2 more times and always satisfied. The ladies working there are cheerful and friendly, always smiling. They have açaí bowls and smoothies as well as coffee. It is clean and oh- it's the Waikīkī location, across from the beach. They have outdoor seating. I hope they don't close. It's hard to find places open early to eat. read more

Sunrise Shack, a vibrant grab-and-go cafe facing Waikiki Beach, specializes in delicious smoothie bowls. I went there twice. The first time, my girlfriend and I got the Acai Bowl, Tropical Bowl, and Almond Coconut Bowl. The second time I got the Blue Dream Bowl and Papaya Bowl. Okay so you need to know Sunrise Shack has two locations on both ends of the Waikiki strip. This one is located on the southern part of the strip. I was thankful for this place because instead of walking 15 minutes to the other side it was only a 5 minute walk from my hotel. The space and decor is well decorated and the cashiers are all very pleasant. There are a few tables in the front if you get there early enough, but if you don't the beach is just right across the street. Let's talk about food. Strangely their açaí bowl was the most disappointing part of this review and even then it was still really good. Their acai is perfectly sweetened and they give a nice amount of granola. I was very happy about that. My only feedback was please add more fruits to your açaí! I only got a banana and was so disappointed that there weren't blueberries and strawberries. BUT their tropical bowl definitely makes up for that. With a mango instead of an acai base, its the perfect level of sweetness to fruit ratio. Its topped off with pineapples as well. Highly recommend this one. LAST but not least DO NOT SLEEP ON THEIR TOAST. Probably one of the best smoked salmons Ive had. Whatever spread they put on their toast it was basically perfection and the toppings were well thought out. Overall definitely recommend for your acai fix with fast service and clean space to eat. read more

I had such a fantastic acai bowl at Alo in Waikiki that I was already craving another. So, when we stumbled upon Sunrise, even though I'd just had a bowl an hour prior, I decided to go for it. I was totally skeptical it could be anywhere near as good... boy, was I wrong! This acai bowl was incredible. It had a smooth, dense, and perfectly icy texture, and wasn't too sweet at all - a huge win in my book. Unlike other spots, Sunrise swirled layers of granola throughout the bowl. Maybe a bit too much for my personal preference (I'd ask for less next time), and I wish there were more toppings by default, but you can always add more for a fee. Let's just say, we ordered a large, which was absolutely enormous, and we not only finished it but legitimately wanted seconds. I really hope their other locations are just as good as this one, because we're definitely coming back! (Note: They have plenty of other delicious-looking smoothies and bowls, but only one option features the acai base.) read more

This particular location was nice because it had a lot more options for outdoor seating, it's right across from the beach, and if you finish the marathon it's literally walking distance from the finish so you can grab a yummy bowl to treat yourself. I stopped by the Sunrise Shack on a walk to get a coffee to go. The store is really cute and a fun aesthetic, which is what drew me in. I ordered the Mac nut bullet iced, they are mainly a smoothie and bowl shop but I was just feeling a coffee. The store was pretty busy but my coffee came out quick. Sadly, I was really disappointed with the Mac Nut Bullet drink. I didn't think it had a much flavor but the main thing I disliked was the gritty texture, and I couldn't taste any coffee. Id suggest that they incorporate more coffee (for flavor) and blend for a while longer. Additionally, I hate when places upcharge for an iced drink. blue dream smoothie tasted alright. nothing special or great. it didn't taste that cold either. it's very thick and creamy with a slight hint of banana. pitaya bowl tasted much better. the pitaya was flavorful with the goji berries, blueberries and all the other toppings. it all combined together well. great as a breakfast or snack. very convenient because it was right next to our hotel. service was normal and the inside is small with a few seating tables outside. read more

Everytime we walked past the shop they had a good crowd outside dining which is usually a good sign. We really enjoyed the smoothie bowls though they were a little more runny than what we're used to for true 'acai bowls' but maybe that's just their style. I enjoyed that they also put granola at the bottom of the cup so that you're not just eating the fruit mix at the end (nice job!). The peanut butter bowl also had peanut butter at the bottom which was a good idea but can leave your mouth full of PB and dry at the end.
