Okay, okay-- now that I realized there isn't just ONE Sunrise Shack on the Northshore, I started to see them pop-up all over the place. Silly me. Anyway, as I said in my Kailua Sunrise Shack review, this was my favorite acai bowl on Oahu, and Kauai. Came back, a 2nd time, and even bought a hat! The smoothie bowls are great, vibes are good and we didn't eat at the location because at the time there was a homeless person sitting face down on the table. I know that's not totally in their control but there's lots of places to eat beyond the seating they provide, such as the beach. Just eat it quick! My I lava you bowl was really runny. Service is fast I'm taking a star away because it's expensive. A 3$ up charge on macadamia nut butter when you get maybe a tablespoon worth and it's locally grown on the island (despite everything else) is pretty crazy. It's about 30$ for two bowls. It's vacation though on the Waikiki strip! So expect those prices. Good smoothie bowls. read more

There was a lot of people and unfortunately the service had a hard time keeping up. The person at the register wasn't even making eye contact. This is not the place to order coffee. Order anything else but coffee. At 8:15am, I ordered an iced latte and it was insanely watered down. I ended up throwing it away. The açaí bowls looked amazing and the most popular items. Definitely go with that. There's extremely limited outdoor seating. You're better off walking and eating. read more

So happy to see this spot on this end of Waikiki. To note: I did not eat an acai bowl, I went straight smoothie 2 days in a row. And it was good? I wouldn't say the most robust smoothie for the price, but I appreciate healthy options when I can get it. I did add a few of the add-on's like protein, which added to the price, making my smoothie close to $16/$17+ which is steep for a smoothie that isn't the biggest. It is not only very pretty but it tastes fresh and delicious! -Blue Dream Smoothie was not too sweet, but the flavor was good. The straw provided crumbled and we could no longer use it. Having been to the original sunrise shack, it's nice walking in and it brings you right back to the side of the road off Kam Highway with all the colorful walls and bright yellow stand. read more

This is where paradise can be tasted! This Sunrise Shack was located right below our hotel at the Twin Fin, making it the perfect breakfast spot for us. Sunrise Shack, a vibrant grab-and-go cafe facing Waikiki Beach, specializes in delicious smoothie bowls. I went there twice. The first time, my girlfriend and I got the Acai Bowl, Tropical Bowl, and Almond Coconut Bowl. The second time I got the Blue Dream Bowl and Papaya Bowl. I first came here because the place that I usually get my avocado toast closed without any notice. I decided to walk around to see what was open at 6 AM and discovered Sunrise Shack. I was surprised at the size of the bread they use. It was huge! It is very tasty and filling. So I've returned 2 more times and always satisfied. The ladies working there are cheerful and friendly, always smiling. They have açaí bowls and smoothies as well as coffee. It is clean and oh- it's the Waikīkī location, across from the beach. They have outdoor seating. I hope they don't close. It's hard to find places open early to eat. read more

Okay so you need to know Sunrise Shack has two locations on both ends of the Waikiki strip. This one is located on the southern part of the strip. I was thankful for this place because instead of walking 15 minutes to the other side it was only a 5 minute walk from my hotel. The space and decor is well decorated and the cashiers are all very pleasant. There are a few tables in the front if you get there early enough, but if you don't the beach is just right across the street. Let's talk about food. Strangely their açaí bowl was the most disappointing part of this review and even then it was still really good. Their acai is perfectly sweetened and they give a nice amount of granola. I was very happy about that. My only feedback was please add more fruits to your açaí! I only got a banana and was so disappointed that there weren't blueberries and strawberries. BUT their tropical bowl definitely makes up for that. With a mango instead of an acai base, its the perfect level of sweetness to fruit ratio. Its topped off with pineapples as well. Highly recommend this one. LAST but not least DO NOT SLEEP ON THEIR TOAST. Probably one of the best smoked salmons Ive had. Whatever spread they put on their toast it was basically perfection and the toppings were well thought out. Overall definitely recommend for your acai fix with fast service and clean space to eat. read more

I had such a fantastic acai bowl at Alo in Waikiki that I was already craving another. So, when we stumbled upon Sunrise, even though I'd just had a bowl an hour prior, I decided to go for it. I was totally skeptical it could be anywhere near as good... boy, was I wrong! This acai bowl was incredible. It had a smooth, dense, and perfectly icy texture, and wasn't too sweet at all - a huge win in my book. Unlike other spots, Sunrise swirled layers of granola throughout the bowl. Maybe a bit too much for my personal preference (I'd ask for less next time), and I wish there were more toppings by default, but you can always add more for a fee. Let's just say, we ordered a large, which was absolutely enormous, and we not only finished it but legitimately wanted seconds. I really hope their other locations are just as good as this one, because we're definitely coming back! (Note: They have plenty of other delicious-looking smoothies and bowls, but only one option features the acai base.) read more

Loved the sunrise shack down the street, so we thought why not? Coffee was so good and açaí bowl hit the spot every time. Visiting sunrise shack became a staple in our trip. This particular location was nice because it had a lot more options for outdoor seating, it's right across from the beach, and if you finish the marathon it's literally walking distance from the finish so you can grab a yummy bowl to treat yourself. I stopped by the Sunrise Shack on a walk to get a coffee to go. The store is really cute and a fun aesthetic, which is what drew me in. I ordered the Mac nut bullet iced, they are mainly a smoothie and bowl shop but I was just feeling a coffee. The store was pretty busy but my coffee came out quick. Sadly, I was really disappointed with the Mac Nut Bullet drink. I didn't think it had a much flavor but the main thing I disliked was the gritty texture, and I couldn't taste any coffee. Id suggest that they incorporate more coffee (for flavor) and blend for a while longer. Additionally, I hate when places upcharge for an iced drink. The dough was light and fluffy and the filling had a great flavor. As for my coffee, I have to agree with other reviews that the syrup made it overly sweet. I still drank it, but I definitely would have preferred something less sweet. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again for the malasadas. As for the coffee, I would probably pass unless you prefer your drinks on the sweeter side.

I rarely venture to Waikiki, and if I do make the dreaded drive to "town", this place and Kan Sushi will be the only regular places where I will make my stop(s), because its so worth it. I've had a long-standing love-affair with Kulu Kulu from the Shirokiya Food Court location with it's waffle bears and Hello Kitty waffles, the takeout Nama Chocolate cups stocked at Mitsuwa Marketplace and now here, in town. The Ube Coconut Mousse $6.95 blew our minds, it was THE best tasting thing, ever. Both the ube and the coconut were not cloying, and as with all of their treats, not overly sweet either. That's why I love Japanese pastries, they get the sweetness just perfect and I have no idea how they mastermind that ratio! Strawberry Panna Cotta $5.95 was creamy, flavorful, delicious and surprisingly light and refreshing for such a creamy dessert. I normally don't get this kind of combination of flavors, and it tasted like something you'd get in a Michellin-rated establishment. Looking back at the photos, I see vanilla bean seeds in the panna cotta, so every loving detail and nuance shows through with each mouthful. Nama Chocolate $5.75 is my go-to chocolate LOVE. It's cut into cool creamy semi-sweet squares dusted with cocoa and it melts in your mouth! This is my favorite of all things that Kulu Kulu makes. I actually enjoy this better than the famous Royce Chocolates from Japan. We ordered another seasonal Strawberry dessert slice cake but it was eaten before I could review (and/or taste it); I've heard it was very very delicious. This place is so good that I plan to bring my friends who will be visiting from Virginia here to try their pastries. I also plan to support this business for as long as I can and make more frequent trips to town just to get these amazing desserts.

The SUNNIEST place to be in Waikiki! This is the best location yet! (And the most precious cafe in the whole world; okay, you can tell I love it!) We all need sunshine in our lives. A long time Sunrise fan, I didn't think it could get any cuter, friendlier, happier -- then this store came along! I'm sooo Happy it did! Great service! I originally said I did not want dates on my bowl as I don't normally like them and my server explained that she's normally the same way but it's just a sweetener so she doesn't even notice the flavor! The environment is so welcoming and provides a great place for people to sit and chill, especially with live music being played right outside. The food itself is amazing! I got the Blue Dream Bowl, and I don't normally love smoothie bowls but it tasted amazing! Would highly recommend coming out to give it a try! read more

He then proceeded to set the cup down, and wipe his tray, not registering that the bottom of the cup would also be dripping from the spillage. We were also provided with creamer that had a noticeable black dot in it. May have been a small fly, but we weren't planning on needing it anyways. The complimentary breakfast (courtesy of CSR) was more limited than I remember it being. We only stayed two nights, which was perfect because I would have gotten bored of the breakfast options if we stayed longer.
