I've been going to Ali'i for years, and it's become one of my favorite spots whenever I'm craving fresh poke or food that reminds me of being back in Hawaii. The poke is outstanding. They always have a great variety of flavors, and I love that they're constantly introducing new ones. The kalua pork is some of the best you'll find this side of Honolulu, if you ask me, and the mac salad is just as good. One of the things that keeps me coming back, though, is the people. Bryson and his team always greet me like a friend, take the time to chat, and make everyone feel genuinely welcome. That kind of hospitality is hard to find. The Hawaiian music, relaxed atmosphere, and laid-back vibe make it easy to forget you're in Los Angeles and almost feel like you're sitting near the beach in Kailua. Can't recommend this place enough. Looking forward to being back next week... and probably the week after that, too. read more

TREE NUT OIL IN THE FISH If you have a nut allergy, please inform the staff. The menu did not list any nut ingredients. I had a severe allergic reaction due to 'kukui nut oil' which was mixed in. I did not know this until after I had finished the urgent care appt and called to see where it came from. The poke here is really good, and I love that they offer the option to get it seared. My husband and I travel to Hawaii about every other year, and I'd say the poke here comes pretty close to what you'd find there. We shared the torched salmon bowl and the Ali'i bowl with two options. We chose the Hawaii ahi and the garlic shrimp, along with the ocean seaweed salad. I like how the combo comes with a Hawaiian can drink. The only big downside for us was the very, very COLD rice. It honestly made the meal less enjoyable. I understand that hot rice could partially "cook" the poke when placed on top, but even lukewarm rice would be much better. Another idea could be instead of using the plastic bowl, use the take out box that can place the rice separately from the fish so you can combine them when eating. A sturdy paper plate would also suffice. I'd really love to come back, but cold rice is a dealbreaker for me. Also, I'd recommend skipping the huli chicken and the chicken and pork tacos, as they were on the dry side. read more

Always looking for a new poke spot. Sadly this disappointed. Was kind of expensive with not a lot of poke compared to how much rice. The poke was so much saltier than other places. Definitely a great neighborhood poke spot if you want to stay in the MB/Redondo/Hermosa area. I HIGHLY recommend the wonton chips (furikake-seasoned) with ahi dip! For poke, I really like the creamy garlic, not the biggest fan of the rice so I tend to get my bowls w/ salad. They have a window full of all their poke flavors, they have a lot but I wasn't interested in all of them because literally all of them had red chilli flakes. I get that's a popular spice to put in poke but I prefer to get poke without it. Out of all of their flavors I only found one flavor, onion limu I believe. Looking at Yelp there seems to be others but at that point I just wanted to eat. Poke was pretty good and fresh, my favorite side was their mac salad. It was really good. I also got broccoli as well. My husband and I only came here once or twice when they operated under Ali'i Poke in El Segundo. They changed the name to Ali'i Hawaiian Grill more recently and are now in Manhattan Beach. This is one of my favorite places to get poke locally. Their seafood is always fresh and flavorsome. The owner and staff here are always super friendly and welcoming. Ambiance here is casual and clean and would make for a good quick meal. One thing I do miss about the El Segundo location is that they had an outdoor seating area. There's a dedicated carpark behind the restaurant. While the carpark is shared with a few other restaurants, we've never had trouble getting a spot here. Highly recommend for poke or Hawaiian food in the South Bay. read more

I ordered a regular poke bowl (2 poke, 1 base, 1 side, 1 Hawaiian sun) with onion limu poke and creamy garlic poke, rice, and mac salad. My partner ordered the huli chicken plate with rice and salad, edamame and pickled cucumber, as well as ponzu sauce. That plate smacked just as good too. Really good poke. Reminds me of this Japanese place I tried poke at for the first time years ago. I got the onion limu and spicy ahi, both were flavorful and fresh. Stumbled across this spot trying to find some poke. So me and my daughter were in Manhattan Beach and I wanted something semi healthy, healthy-ish. The parking and the entrance I saw most people use are in the back. Super friendly staff that couldn't have been cooler. They gave us some samples that really guided us through the menu. So we got the Huli chicken combo. The Hulu chicken was special because of its smoky flavor. Highly recommend this dish. We also got the regular poke with rice, sea salad and edamame. My first time trying this place out and it was amazing! I ordered the small plate with 2 poke and a side. The side is either rice or a salad. The service was super personable. You are able to sample the poke which i loved! I ask for a recco and the guy told me onion limu was his personal fave so I ordered that and the ponzu salmon. Very flavorful and so tender. We popped in here for a quick weekday lunch. Overwhelmed by the poke selections, the super friendly guy at the counter just kept handing us samples until we made a decision. You can't go wrong, they are all good. I felt like something a little warmer so went for the Torched Hawaiian- which was literally seared on top then topped with sauces and seasonings. The restaurant is small, tucked in between Big Wok and Indias Tabdoori, but they're the only establishment with an outdoor patio on the parking lot, so plenty of seating. Been going to Ali'i for a while. I was sad when the El segundo location closed but hey they are in Manhattan beach now. Parking is in a lot behind the restaurant but out front is street parking and hectic since its in sepulveda. Friendly smiles, good food and nice inside seating. My go to poke place. read more

I came out here with my husband and mother in law because we heard Bachan's Shave Ice was having a pop up here. There is plenty of parking in the back and entrance is on the back side of the building. Inside the shave ice pop up was set up in a little nook in the hallway and the counter to order is a little further in. It's a cute place with some seating inside and another outdoor seating area as well. Your food comes in to-go containers so it would be easy to take and eat outside as well. The guy working today, I'm assuming one of the owners, was probably one of the nicest, most helpful workers I've encountered. He came out from behind the counter and explained everything on the menu. He even let us try some the different poke flavors before ordering. He said he was from the Big Island and spoke in some pidgin. We got one poke bowl which came with 2 different pokes, rice, salad, kalua pork, and two sides. The different pokes were delicious and all different. My favorite was the onion and crispy garlic. We also got the huli chicken plate. The plate came with a sauce on the side. We got a garlic aioli sauce which was so garlicky and delicious. They have happy hour every day except Tuesdays from 3-7 so we got two tacos from the happy hour menu and got one chicken and one pork. The pork was nice and juicy but not greasy or too salty. The fries were also nice and crispy and drizzled with two different spicy and savory sauces. The food was so delicious and we got to end our meal with refreshing and fruity Bachan's Shave Ice. I would absolutely recommend people check this place out especially poke lovers. read more

Friendly and welcoming atmosphere as I came in during lunch on a Wednesday, and the restaurant was a good amount of busy. Several tables filled and waited behind 2-3 customers before ordering at the counter. I saw the small poke bowl (1 base + 2 poke) and thought "$11 for eating out on a work lunch? What a deal!!" The guy taking my order was very nice, made me feel like he was glad I came to eat there. I was indecisive about which 2 kinds of poke to get, so he gave recommendations. Ordered the crunchy garlic and spicy ahi poke. As I was paying, he hands me a sample of the ponzu salmon poke I was considering but didn't go with - delicious! Order came out about 5 mins later.
