Same fine food, unexciting atmosphere, but some doggone great food! I always read the reliable Yelp reviews. One of them said she ordered a double macaroni salad. I stopped by Wiki Hawaiian Barbecue after visiting another business a few doors down and decided to give it a try. The photos of the food looked great, and to be fair, the food itself did look and taste good once I finally got it. I ordered the chicken katsu, and the portion and presentation were solid. Where the experience really fell short for me was the service. When I first walked in, no one came out to greet me. The woman working in the back (I later learned her name is Linda) just kept cooking, and it wasn't until another employee asked her to come out that I was actually helped. When she did come out, her demeanor was very short, inflexible, and not particularly kind. It didn't feel welcoming at all. I went ahead and placed my order anyway. It took a while for the food to be prepared, and during that time another customer came in and also waited. Again, the interaction felt more like an obligation than genuine customer service. Overall: Food: Good I'd give the chicken katsu itself about 3.5-4 stars Service: Disappointing - I'd give it closer to 2 stars Because there are several other restaurants up and down this same street serving similar food, I'll be trying those out (probably more than once) before I consider coming back here. Was passing through LAX and stopped here for lunch. This place is great for grab & go. I ordered the mini chicken katsu curry place lunch. The regular size plate lunches are for those who got big appetites. Love it, because it's not too salty compared to other Hawaiian bbq spots. I also tried the teriyaki chicken plate lunch in the past. This place can get really busy especially during lunch hours because customers either are on lunch break or are heading to LAX. It's not a dine-in place. I do recommend their food. But watch out for the food coma after. Plate lunches are heavy meals. The lady at the counter very friendly and quick with my order. I've also had their other dishes like the regular grilled chicken, and so far, everything has been great! Price range is around $20, they also offer mini versions too. Drink are available and they have fountain drinks, and canned drinks including Hawaiian canned drinks! The restaurant itself is a small store so it's mostly takeout only, with the ordering in the front and kitchen in the back. Theres a few small seats available, though there seems to be some outside seating available in the plaza. I was torn between WikiWiki and L&L but... wikiwki won my heart and my wallet. The customer service for both were awesome when retrieving quotes. Just wikiwiki is a bit more affordable. Linda is awesome and helped quote based on my party I was catering for a colleague farewell party. Everyone was so happy with this decision and the food was fresh yummy and filling. Been coming here for years will never come back again. I let two customers go in the door before me because my daughter is walking slow we all get inside the latino guys have a coworker waiting for them they are looking at the menu figuring out what they want so I step to the register and try to order and the lady stops and asks if I'm with the men looking at the menu I said no and she says they're going to order I said they aren't ready and the men says they are not ready I can go ahead and order but she said they were there 1st I take my daughter and start to leave and the men say it's okay order I said it's okay and the lady said no it's okay and shoo's my daughter and I away. Delicious Hawaiian food. My bf used to work nearby and would bring the food from here and I loved it. Now he longer work in the South Bay Area so I'll swing by and grab food to take home. Our go to is the Portuguese sausage and loco moco plate. The portion is large and the patty for the loco moco is plump! The macaroni salad is tasty and I steamed veggies are tasty dipped in their teriyaki sauce. The eggs are perfectly cooked, over easy. One of the many places that I have as a lunch option when I work out at the El Segundo office. I've only been here once so far. And since I'm trying to cut back on the meat I got the tropical chicken salad. Yes I know it's chicken but I want something. It's a little pricey for lunch but you definitely get what you pay for. The portions are huge. The salad itself had a great taste and everything tasted fresh. I couldn't even finish the entire salad and ate almost half of it for dinner that night. No frills and no nonsense. I walked in placed my order and waited for 10 minutes to pick up my food. Both in store, and phone or online orders, food was just flying out of that door left and right. The staff were moving like lightning, it was incredible to see. The establishment is small...a general outdoor dining area is provided for several Eateries that are side by side at the end of this outdoor strip mall. The Menu board lists the varied offerings as #'d plates...just make a choice and order. Fountain Drinks and a Beverage Cooler make your choice of beverage fairy simple. The wait time from ordering to eating was relatively short, 5-8 minutes, so no problem for our lunch meal. Our order consisted of the Chinese Chicken Salad (didn't have this myself, but it looked very appealing), I was told it was DELICIOUS 5/5, and my own order of the Hawaiian BBQ Mix (BBQ Chicken, BBQ Beef and Kalbi Short Ribs w/sides of Cabbage, Rice and Macaroni Salad) 5/5. I used to love this place and used to order the chicken and beef combo. When we came back that and almost everything in the menu increased in price by about $4.00. This has to be reflected in the review because in my opinion this place no longer holds that great value that it used to and there are certainly other Hawaiian bbq options in the immediate vicinity. I thought the flavor and crispiness was delicious and the food coma hit me pretty soon afterwards. WikiWiki is a no frills place, very limited seating inside (maybe 4-5 seats). Typical hawaiian restaurants similar to L&L's. I've tried their BBQ combo set and loco moco. Usually the beef/short rib at hawaiian restaurant tends to be dry and tough to chew, which was the same for WikiWiki. Chicken was on the juicier side but nothing special. However, I really liked their loco moco! I never had loco moco until I tried WikiWiki but I thought it was pretty good. On off days the gravy comes out a bit too salty but usually it's pretty good. I really like the patty which is packed with flavor. :) I don't have any loco moco standards since Wiki is the only place I tried locomoco but I'm assuming it's on the better side cause it surely is pretty darn tasty! Now I don't venture to try other dishes since loco moco has become my staple dish. Parking is HORRIBLE in this small plaza during lunch time.
