I found a fish bone in my poke bowl, and unfortunately it got stuck in my throat. It was extremely painful and honestly pretty alarming. I brought it to the attention of the staff at the counter, expecting at least some concern or acknowledgment. Instead, I was told, "Deal with it, it's fish." That response was incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. I've eaten at plenty of poke restaurants and have never encountered a piece of fish bone in my food. I understand that mistakes can happen, but properly preparing and checking the fish is part of basic food preparation. This felt like a careless oversight that could have been avoided. Went in to get a quick poke bowl. The poke signs were upside down, okay portions and reasonable price. 3 scoops of protein for about $17 I think. The server also scrapped food that wasn't in the container back into the appropriate container. I guess it's okay, but just thought it was weird to do right in front of the customer. I am so happy a poke place opened up walking distance from my house! Came in this evening with a friend and was greeted with hellos and smiles from every employee there. Being our first time there the staff went over how to order. They even asked if we wanted to sample things! How great is that! The lava tuna is incredible, and actually has a kick to it. There are a great variety of sides and you can add as many sides as you want. They have a great variety of garnishes too! The restaurant is definitely takeout bias, but they have a great amount of seating. Their grand opening is on the 15th and I will definitely be back! read more

Came at 2:30 PM with my sister to try this new spot by my apartment. Upon entering we asked questions since it was our first time and the associate was fairly rude when asking her if the crab was counting as a protein or a topping since every poke place is different. Then as my sister orders she asked for extra seaweed and the same associate says it'll be a extra charge and then grabs a scoop and then puts the smallest amount so I speak up and tell her if she's charging us extra to actually give us a portion scoop please. The experience left us feeling uncomfortable and won't be returning or sharing to others to try the location due to customer service and small portion sizing for price. read more

I had noticed that Ahipoki opened recently and gave it a try this week--I really liked it. In fact, I went two nights later and got it again. Both times I got the three scoop poke bowl--the first time with tuna, salmon and eel; the second with two scoops of salmon and one of tuna. I added assorted vegetables and toppings, and got miso soup (which was very good) both times. The food was very fresh and tasted really good. The staff were very friendly and answered my questions about the various toppings and sauces. Both times I got the food to go, but there are tables and chairs if you want to eat inside. I was really excited to find a new poke place and had an amazing experience on my first visit which was only 2 nights ago.I ordered the 3 scoops, but since I wanted double salmon and couldn't select salmon twice, I had to choose 2 scoops (tuna & salmon) and add extra salmon. The portion on the first time was huge so much food that I couldn't even finish it. Everything tasted fresh and it left a great first impression. Unfortunately, my second visit was completely different. I ordered again and paid for 3 scoops, but the portion was very small compared to the first time, and they didn't even include the third scoop that I paid for. The bowl looked bare and nothing like my first order. I understand portions can vary, but this was a drastic difference and disappointing, especially since I paid for the same thing. Consistency really matters, and I hope this was just an off day because my first experience set the bar really high. I ordered a 2 scoop poke bowl last night with a scoop of salmon and a scoop of the avocado tuna and consumed it immediately. The avocado tuna tasted different than what I expected and after consuming realized that it was not fresh. I woke up last night in the middle of the night with sharp stomach pains and had diarrhea. I had another bout this morning. Suffice it to say that the restaurant needs to do a better job keeping the raw fish fresh. Portions small, fish was barely mediocre- texture wasn't great, like fibrous, taste was ok. Sauces were like thick and weird. They had to remake mine because they put a ton of sauce right after I said "a little bit." It doesn't come close to being 1/10th of Jus Poke just a few miles away, or Alihi. read more
