The five hour kayak and hike was great. Our guide, Ryan, was not only patient with us, but very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna on the trail. Ryan is a professional chef and knows a lot about all of the plants and trees that are growing in abundance along the trail. He also knows the history of the islands, being Born and raised here on Kauai. We got incredibly muddy on the trail, due to recent rains, but had ample time in the falls to rinse off before heading back and getting muddy all over again. The day was awesome and I highly recommend the trip. Ask for Ryan as your guide. He's great! read more

Hands down - the best tour I've ever been at! This place is a prime example on how the first impression could be so wrong. We booked the trip through Expedia and we got email confirmation stating that our tour starts at 9:30am. Cool. When pulling in Uber closer to the location, we saw this green cabin that certainly has seen better years in the middle of nowhere. Got there at 9:20am and as soon as we got in our tour guide passively-aggressively told us that check in starts at 9am and they almost left without us. Great. After this interaction we went for safety meeting and were told that so many people have broken their wrists and ankles during this hike. At that moment my friend looked at me like, "oh God, what did we get ourselves into?" BUT as soon as the adventure began, we'd shortly forgotten about the rocky start - kayaking along the river was marvelous and very peaceful. We had people in our group with zero kayaking experience and nobody had difficulties with it for 2.5 miles each way. Our guide, Erick, ended up being a very fun person, who was followed by his co-guide, a cute Chihuahua named Liko. So many people was concerned how this little dog will make it to the end of the hike, but Liko walked through water, rocks and mud freely and even attacked a wild peacock at the end of the hike. Not so cute dog anymore During the hike Erick walked barefoot and effortlessly whereas we all struggled to step in a way that would not cause an injury. He also gifted all females in the group with roses personally made out of coconut leaves while hiking and played ukulele along the way! I saved my rose and now it lives in my room as a little souvenir and memory from such an awesome trip. Lastly, Erick always made sure that all of us got great picture and nobody was left behind without his selfies on their phones. What we loved the most about Erick is how passionate he is about saving nature the way it is. I've never thought how drastically tourist traffic could affect an area but Erick gave graphic examples of how the place looked when he was young and what it became now. He also had a great recommendation for an after tour bar for cheap mai tai The most importantly - we reached the waterfall. Oh my, it's indescribably beautiful. Not only we were able to observe it from far but also got a chance to swim in it (and wash off all the mud that we accumulated along the way) If I ever save enough money to come back to Hawaii, I promise you, I will go for the same trip again because it was THAT MUCH worth every cent we spent. The least I can do for now is to recommend to anyone else who would like to listen to my recommendations. read more

One of the best adventure tours we had while on the island! Izzy was our tour guide, and she went above and beyond (literally! into hills, bushes, everywhere!) to show us about the Hawaiian culture while trekking to secret falls. She even make flowers from palm leaves and bracelets for everyone from the Hau bush. We loved every minute, couldn't ask for any other way to end our trip. This was an amazing experience. We had Kai as our guide and his dog. They were both amazing. He showed us how to make rope from a tree, cut off awapuhi flowers to take home. He also taught us a lot about the Hawaiian culture as we were hiking. He also let two of us feed a wild bird out of our hands on the trail. We had an amazing time with our tour guide Don. The scenery was incredible and he was so knowledgeable about the plants, animals, and island. He made the trip fun for our young daughters (ages 5 and 8), and made sure our parents (late 60s) enjoyed the trip as well. Tips for the trail, water shoes are a must as there are multiple streams you cross on the hike, and they are all very rocky. Be sure to pack a hearty snack or lunch for when you reach the waterfall, it's beautiful, but can be a longer trip back with the wind in your face. I would absolutely recommend this tour, and go back in a heartbeat. read more

Came here on a Friday. Our tour guides were Erick and Kai who were both awesome! We did the kayak and hike to the waterfall. Don't worry about losing your keys or getting your stuff wet, they hold your keys and provide a water proof bag for you to put your items in. The kayak boat holds two people and can put a child in between two adults. Beware: if you do the hike, do plan on getting dirty, do not wear white, and wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty. Also, when starting your hike, try to find a walking stick, you will definitely need one. During this hike, you will walk in mud and muddy puddles. Your best bet is to just walk through the puddles and mud vs. looking for dry or not so muddy part because you will definitely slip and fall. At first I thought, "This sucks"... but you end up getting used to walking through the mud. You will be focusing on where you walk but don't forget to stop and enjoy the scenery. The muddy hike was definitely worth seeing the waterfall. I totally enjoyed this trip and Kai made me a cool bracelet and Erick made me a walking stick. Thank you Kai and Erick =). If you do the hike, bring bug spray, a towel, and change of clothing/shoes. I used water shoes and they worked fine. read more

What an amazing experience. The 2 mile kayak trip up the river is spectacular, and many scenes from movies can be spotted along the river path. It's relaxing, but also a good workout (especially the 2 miles back). Water shoes or shoes you don't care about are a must. Bring plenty of water and food for when you rest. Our tour guide, TC is a great guide and his dog is such a great pet. After kayaking, there's a .75 mile hike (mostly flat surfaces) to the Secret Falls. It's named such because it is only accessible via the river. However, the secrets out because there were 30 people there when we stopped for a dip and lunch. It's a gorgeous place. TC does a great job telling the native history of the island, making jokes and keeping pace. He even plays ukulele! The best tour guide we had on the island of all the activities we did. This is a top 3 thing to do. read more

You will get wet, you will get muddy, you will be sore the day after, but the trip down the river by kayak and the hike into the "secret" falls is worth all of it. Our guide, Ko'ana was pleasant and fun. There were quite a few kayakers and paddle borders on the river and the hike has many people on it. The hike to falls is fairly muddy, I recommend closed toe water shoes with grip. The waterfall area was pretty busy once we reached it but most groups headed out shortly after we got there which gave us time with less crowd to swim around. Erick was our guide and he was great! He explained Hawaiian history and culture through out the tour and you could tell he was passionate about it. The excursion itself is a lot of fun. The hike through the thick mud is well worth it once you get to the Secret Falls. Highly recommend the tour. Don't forget your water shoes and a waterproof bag (if you don't have a bag they provide one) Be prepared to be here at least 5-6 hours. Our tour was at 10:30 am and arrived back at 4:30pm.
