It was a questionable feat so they asked to hold the pants until Ali could examine them and would update me the next day. Not only did the team accept the job, they kept the designer manufactured zipper intact and completed the job within 24 hours even though there was no rush. Brought a pair of jeans to be hemmed on a Monday. The Alitailors team was friendly and helpful. Indicated jeans would be ready on Friday but ended up being ready Wednesday morning. They texted updates and were very communicative and easy to work with. Additionally, they were able to hem the jeans using the original hem so you can't even tell they were altered. I got a dress altered about a year ago (and came out fine) and I suspect bias in the ownership/ management/employees towards customers of a certain 'complexion.' I was told I had to pay before the dress was done, which was fine and I had no complaints. The man helping me behind the desk was also using his phone at the same time, but I didn't judge. However, while I waiting for the man assisting to finish processing my payment, a girl who was of a pale complexion (a different color from me) came in to pay for a service as well. The same man that was processing my payment tells her that she doesn't have to pay until after.......I won't forget that. I had better things to do so I went about my day and told myself that the day I come back for my dress will be my last. That was wrong and I hope management reflects on this and treats customers fairly. I now need another dress altered and this is the closest tailor to my home, but I won't be coming here again because of that incident. I've visited Alitailors twice now! The first time I brought in a dress that I was hoping to add pockets to. While they are very responsive via messaging and texting, they insisted on seeing the dress in person to provide an estimate - they wanted to be sure they understood the material of the clothing, the placement of the pockets, etc. I appreciate their thoroughness, and the estimate ended up being higher than I was willing to pay. But I had a great experience communicating with them, so I was back a few months later to add elbow patches on a cashmere cardigan. They were very communicative about timeline and texted when the work was done. It looks like it was always a part of the original garment. The quality of work and service were well worth the price. I procrastinated on getting my bridesmaid dress hemmed and needed it done within a week. After requesting quotes on Yelp, Alitailors came through with the quick response and even better, a quick turnaround time. I put in a request on Yelp on Thursday morning, went in to measure/drop off my dress on Thursday afternoon, and got a text that it was ready on Saturday afternoon. My dress was made of chiffon, so a tricky fabric to cut and hem, I've heard. I paid ~ $80 for the hem and a cut to open the slit a bit more. I was expecting the rate to be less to be honest and was hoping to get a quote before I got there. But I understand they needed to see it first. Plus after learning more about the fabric I understood why it was priced higher than I thought. Either way, it was a great experience across the board. Really great and kind staff, quick service, and great tailoring. It's located on a busy cross section of Hayward on Jackson street. The parking lot is small and could be difficult to access if there's a lot of traffic on Jackson (usually during the rush hour times). Plan ahead and visit outside those busy hours! read more
